Chapter 945: Volume 30 Emerging Empire Chapter 16 Rift

The vast beach was deserted, and Komer silently watched the elf girl as she walked along, the sea breeze caressing her pleated skirt, which undulated gracefully. The spiritual essence of the Elf Clan seemed to be fully displayed at that moment.

"Mr. Xerob has arrived."

"Oh? He’s come so early?"

"Should we make him wait a bit?"

"No need to bother with him; he’s very patient," Komer said, his lips curling into a slight smile.

The close gaze seemed to penetrate the elf girl’s pleated skirt, the scent of laurel permeating the air. Finitz didn’t know what had happened, how she had suddenly found herself standing in front of Komer, not knowing how to leave. Was she expecting something? Was it Komer’s insidious gaze that lured her, or had her sensitive soul suddenly sprouted a sinister bud?

The elf girl just stood silently before Komer. Komer took a deep breath, aware that he had inadvertently released the ploys of the heart, which had entwined with the delicate emotions of the girl’s soul, causing the current scene to unfold.

Komer lifted his head to gaze up at the girl. The elf girl’s eyes were closed, her lips slightly parted, as if searching for something. A light crimson graced her face, sparkling vividly under the morning sun.

Komer slowly stood up, then squatted down. He could no longer control his actions, knowing it was playing with fire, yet he felt a thrill akin to a moth drawn to flames.

Grasping the skirt swaying in the sea breeze, Komer slowly lifted the pleated long skirt from the ankles, the fragrance of laurel mixed with the unique vegetal scent of the elf girl wafting to his nose.

The Sara Long Skirt was lifted bit by bit, revealing the girl’s long beautiful legs. No gap was visible between her tightly pressed legs; her leg muscles, fine and even, resembled a sculpture perfectly crafted to the golden ratio.

The girl, following Komer’s movements, raised her arms. The pleated skirt fluttered in the sea breeze, drifting toward the sea as she lifted her proud head, supporting it with her hands from behind.

Komer kneeled on the beach to enjoy the scene.

Komer had already stood up and moved behind the girl, her plump yet delicate body standing out starkly on the spacious beach. Her delicate shoulder bones and the beautiful curve of her back formed a unique landscape, while her less plump but more proportional thighs were like an artwork crafted by the heavens, harmonious and perfect, making Komer’s gaze linger unforgettably.

Truly a divine artwork! Komer inwardly sighed, the Elf Clan meeting every aspect of the goddess of beauty’s creation, no wonder they were said to be the illegitimate children of the beauty goddess.

What exactly am I doing? What do I want to do?

Komer silently embraced the elf girl from behind. He needed time for the girl to calm down. Now was not the moment, or perhaps he was not really in the right frame of mind, merely attributing the unusual circumstances to the weather and sunshine. Komer could only deceive himself with such a trivial excuse.

"Go, let Xerob wait in the reception room for me." Komer kneeled on the beach, took a deep breath, and picked up the white towel from his recliner to wrap around her.

Finitz had already recovered her senses, standing still with her hands covering her face.

After gently touching her tousled hair tips, Komer left without a word; indeed, he had nothing to say at the moment.

Xerob appeared very patient; he was already on his third cup of coffee. The attitude that emerged from the other party further confirmed his assumptions about playing hard to get, a trick anyone could use; this only indicated that Komer’s thoughts had changed. He had realized the role of the Dark Holy Church in a time of chaotic faith, how to unify the citizens’ thoughts and desires under one banner of faith, and religion was undoubtedly the most effective. Interests are a powerful motivator, but faith transforms more subtly and enduringly.

Another more direct reason was certainly the Dark Holy Church’s remarkable achievements in the Southern Region. Komer seemed to be extending his influence to the South. His equal longing for secular power had caused him some confusion about priorities, Xerob had always believed that secular power should not override ecclesiastical authority, but it was obvious that the Dark Lord had gotten it backwards, which would harm the spread and growth of the church.

Xerob believed it was his duty to remind him. The Dark Lord could not sacrifice the interests of the entire church, as the church was not owned by any individual.

"Xerob, what are you trying to say?"

"Dark Lord, everything you desire, the church can provide. The followers practice rigorously, the church’s influence spans across all races, blessed by the church across the Continent—that is the supreme holy mission we pursue. Why are you still obsessed with these secular matters?" Xerob was calm, making it not easy to persuade the other party.

"Do you think they are contradictory?"

"Maybe not contradictory, but certainly not compatible," Xerob said decisively.

"What if I don’t want to give up?"

"Dark Lord, you shouldn’t speak such words. The great cause of the church needs our united effort."

"I’m sorry, but this is exactly what I’m thinking," Komer asserted, "Perhaps you might regret why I am not a sincere believer, while I indeed wear the title of the Dark Lord, but things in the world are intricate and changeable, and not everyone can understand everything clearly. At least now I don’t think that what I am pursuing is wrong. Maybe you are right, but I need time to verify it. The road of growth is long, and we all have the chance to correct ourselves, right? Xerob, you are a wise man, you should understand my thoughts. Pressing too hard sometimes only backfires."

Xerob’s gaze seemed to penetrate deep into Komer’s soul. After a long time, he finally said, "Then we can wait. I believe the lost lambs will eventually find their way home."

Komer raised his eyebrows, "Is that necessary?"

"It’s not just my opinion, but everyone’s, Dark Lord," Xerob said gravely.
