Chapter 896: Volume 28 Long Spear Plowing the Courtyard Chapter 13 Bear
Komer’s judgement was correct. With the release of the Lightning power, a series of Fire snakes suddenly formed a dense network of fire in the space, spurred on by the strong Qi within the vortex of thunder-based space, spreading out fiercely like a golden sea of fire that would turn everything within the space to ashes.
Komer’s body suddenly bent down, shrinking to half its size in an instant. This allowed him to minimize the surface area hit by the Magical arrows while concentrating his power to counter the impact of the arrows.
The Sky Demon Cover had already been summoned; mere defensive resistance could no longer withstand the combined assault of Magic Power and physical force. Komer had no choice but to take a risk.
At the very last moment before the Magical arrows struck, the Sky Demon Cover burst apart, releasing a wild surge of Qi from every pore of Komer’s body. The explosion of his total Mana finally saved his life. For a Mage, such sudden blows, especially those involving physical force, were the hardest to guard against. No Mage, unprepared, could withstand a Warrior, as the summoning of Magic Power always required a buffer period, and clearly, his opponent did not want to give Komer that chance.
But the instincts Komer had honed over a long time saved him at the last moment. Relying solely on the Sky Demon Cover was not enough to withstand the Magical arrows, but the addition of the Dark Origin Force explosion was enough to handle this disaster.
Millions of Magical arrows scattered in the explosion of the Sky Demon Cover and the Dark Origin Force, yet a few still penetrated the strong counterattack and struck Komer, who was already nearing collapse in this final blow, causing his body to stagger. The network of fire and the force of lightning also roiled and rolled in the space, and the three swordsmen flying in the air directed their Knight’s Swords, glowing blue, towards Komer.
The corners of Komer’s mouth and eyes both spilled blood, and he couldn’t help but bitterly smile to himself. His opponent’s plan was too perfect, the Magical arrows were nearly fatal, clearly viewing him as their greatest foe. Had he not forcibly activated the Dark Origin Force along with the Sky Demon Cover, the arrows would have riddled him like a nest of hornets, not to mention the persistent targeting of him with Fire Magic and Thunder Magic, and now there were also three swordsmen at their prime.
Komer, falling to the ground, suppressed the surging blood in his chest. At this moment, his only choice was to draw on his last strength to pull out the Cosmic Bag and release a spell. Whether he could survive might just depend on this one hope. Komer didn’t ask for much, only hoping to hold on until Solonberg and Rebury could arrive in time. The garden was not far from the main building of the Lord’s Mansion, literally moments away – it all depended on Solonberg and his group’s reaction now.
Seeing their target sitting on the ground like dead grey, Chilomba and Seringe, along with another companion, exchanged a satisfied look while adjusting their positions mid-air. Their Knight’s Swords shone brilliantly, and in one second, their target would be a corpse. At that moment, Seringe heard the distant sound of thunder-based Magic being activated; clearly, backup had noticed something was wrong and was rushing over, while their own Mages were doing their utmost to stop them.
But it was all meaningless now. The target was locked, and by the time they arrived, their Lord would have long returned to hell.
However, when Seringe saw the strange smile forming at the corners of Komer’s mouth as he sat on the ground, he realized something was amiss. A figure appeared in front of Komer for no apparent reason, blocking the fierce glow of the three swords. Seringe hadn’t expected such a bizarre situation at this time; nothing was around within ten feet, except for the fire network and lightning power tightly locked around Komer, and there were no signs of anything else. Yet this figure that appeared before him was undoubtedly no illusion!
Seringe and his companions had no other choice. At this point, anything that stood in their way had to be torn apart. Their Sword Qi, pushed to the limit, emitted a faint glow. The Knight’s Swords looked like splendid columns of light, their blades even chirping slightly from a slight tremor.
The Sword Qi boiled, and three swords stabbed unimpeded into the figure, the strong Qi enough to turn even the toughest guts to dust under this fierce strike. Still, both Seringe and Chilomba simultaneously felt as if their blades had plunged into a sticky morass of glue, or rather, they felt like they had stabbed into a solid, thick wooden stake, the powerful vibration of the blade dissipating invisibly against that friction.
Caught off guard, they only saw a blue shadow swiftly rise. A sharp sense of danger made Seringe and Chilomba simultaneously perform a light backflip in the air, a chilling breath swiftly skimming over their spines, flashing by like lightning, lifting their cloaks.
However, another companion was not so fortunate. A ghastly blue light flashed across the sky, and a piercing scream filled with the endless scent of blood permeated the air. An incredibly sharp ray of light flashed for a mere moment, and another swordsman was already sliced into two midair, his entrails carelessly spilling blood and plasma. The otherwise elegant and tranquil garden had seemingly turned into a scene straight out of hell.
It was only at this moment that Seringe and Chilomba managed to calm themselves enough to fully grasp the horrifying scene before them. Their comrade had been dismembered by the emotionless, yellow-faced burly man wielding a sinister, blue, crescent moon scimitar. The opponent had three fist-sized holes on his chest and abdomen, yet not a single drop of blood flowed out. Both Seringe and Chilomba could clearly see the congealed muscles in the wounds of the zombie’s body that looked as if it had been frozen, absent of any signs of life.
Zombie!
The lifeless eyes of the zombie stared directly at Seringe and Chilomba as if piercing into their hearts. The crescent moon scimitar had an ancient and eerie look and as its right arm slowly raised, the zombie’s movements were slightly stiff yet full of vigor and strength. A eerie blue light trailed along the blade, and a chilly aura crawled up the spines of Seringe and Chilomba.
"Bear, finish them off!"
Komer’s hoarse voice had barely faded when the silent yellow-faced burly man darted to the ground. That ghostly blue ray suddenly spun up from the ground, instantly enshrouding Seringe and Chilomba in a swirling, icy tempest.
Although shocked by the ferocity and savagery of this zombie, as knights of the Bohemian Magic Knight Group, their lives were not as precious as their honor, and numerous hardships had tempered their resolve like iron. Faced with such a sudden and gruesome change, their will was hardly shaken. Undead were not to be feared, especially since neither believed that a mere zombie could stop them.
Two knight’s swords transformed into two spinning, dancing orbs of light, hurling forward rapidly. Their powerful Fighting Qi seemed to compress the surrounding space, making it almost suffocating. Just as the orbs were about to make contact with the ghastly blue ray, they suddenly flickered and diverged. The ghastly blue ray, sensing the intentions of its opponents, performed a magnificent backflip. The sweeping chill brought forth by the crescent moon scimitar immediately surged like a long, inverted rainbow.
Seringe and Chilomba were deeply startled. The reaction speed of this zombie was shocking enough, but the fact that this creature could discern their tactically coordinated attack signified an alarming level of intelligence!
This was utterly terrifying and inconceivable!
Startled, Seringe and Chilomba had no choice but to recoil and shoot back. They even forgot to continue their attack, their eyes filled with doubt as they scanned the expressionless figure before them. The gaping wounds on its torso, void of any bleeding, and the rigid complexion alongside the vacant stare in its eyes confirmed it was indeed a zombie and not a living creature. While a zombie or undead might possess some reactionary capabilities, they should by no accounts have intelligent judgment—this was a fundamental principle in the magical world for millennia and was irrefutable!
And how could one explain what was happening before their eyes?! The keen awareness of their strategy and the ability to finely control its attack at the last moment to thwart their assault had Seringe and Chilomba so confused they even forgot what their mission was. It wasn’t that they hadn’t faced severe challenges before, but the scene unfolding was utterly bizarre. If zombies possessed intelligence, could skeletons live like humans?
Komer was pleased to see this situation unfold; he hoped time would drag on, preferably long enough for backups to arrive. Bear, given his strength, definitely could not fend off both opponents. Even though his unusual physical condition meant he could disregard life and death, the opposition only had to restrain Bear slightly or control his movement, and one strike against him was all it would take for his demise. Right now, he was as defenseless as an infant, and at this moment, both swordsmen seemed to be frightened by Bear’s strange acts.
Every second mattered now, and perhaps this single second could determine his fate. Komer silently vowed in his heart, these disgusting trash who dared to play this trick on him, no matter who was behind this attack—be it Julius or the King of Beastmen—he would never forgive them!
