Chapter 860: Volume 27: Sudden Fury, Chapter 1: If War is Inevitable, Then Fight
"Heh, remnants of darkness, prancing clowns, we have yet to come knocking, and yet you dare to wreak havoc in the Marco Wilderness and fall into our trap?" a loud voice boomed from afar, and several figures scattered down from the Tower of Imprisonment, each moving with either lightness or solidity, agility or gravity. The one leading them wore a white robe, pure and unblemished, but his piercing blue eyes, combined with his pale cheeks, imparted a somewhat eerie appearance.
The three Heavenly Knights seemed displeased on this person’s arrival, but the leader amongst them took a step back first, seemingly handing over the initiative to the newcomer without a moment’s hesitation.
"Haha, falling into the trap, well said, haven’t we just arrived? Behind me, all are stubborn remnants of darkness, who have willingly delivered themselves to the Court of the Church of Light, hoping that the Court can convert and baptize us. Let’s see if we can forsake our misguided ways and start anew," Komer said with a sinister smile, his expression eerily indescribable. At this moment, he was much calmer; this confrontation had finally arrived.
"Hmph, a bunch of fools courting death. Since you’ve delivered yourselves, we won’t hesitate to convert you. Do you think this is a place where you lot can come and go as you please?"
The pale-faced mage was naturally Schiller. Seeing the three Heavenly Knights and four mages securely control the situation eased the heavy burden in his heart; he had always worried that the direct heirs of Vazinsky would not cooperate with him. Originally all part of the Church of Light, factional struggles had turned them into strangers, and they would hardly join forces unless absolutely necessary. If it weren’t for Noyola and Lorenzo, two grandsires, taking away most of the main forces, there would have been no need to humbly ask for help from the Vazinsky clan this time.
"Enough with the nonsense. You must be that Schiller. I hear your mastery of Light Arcane is impeccable. Well, I consider my own Dark Magic prowess to have some foundation too. How about we give it a try? I’ve always wanted to see what the result would be when my Dark Magic faces off against your Light Arcane. Just don’t disappoint me. Oh, and you, the seemingly profound Grand Mage, I can smell the scent of your Psychic Magic. It seems we both have similar tastes. So, why don’t we have a little activity today as well, to make the trip to Marco all the worth it?"
The bold and reckless words didn’t seem like they could come from Komer, and even Mihailovich was surprised by how the usually courteous and rarely improper Lord now behaved so vulgarly, lacking the demeanor that a noble should possess, and even carrying a hint of a rogue’s provocative taste.
Komer’s madness angered both Schiller and the bearded mage.
This man was too insolent; he clearly recognized himself as the leader of his group. Michelangelo was undoubtedly the greatest mage under Vazinsky, his Psychic Magic even astonished Vazinsky himself, and yet his opponent dared to challenge his strongest aspect. He was either a madman or a fool, or if neither, a true powerhouse.
The joy in Michelangelo’s eyes intensified. For him, encountering a worthy opponent was indeed a fortunate event. The opponent’s gaze was plain and ordinary, but the fact that he could maintain a coherent conversation while locking eyes was enough to make this battle worthwhile. He initially thought it would be a one-sided extermination of these foolish dark remnants, merely a bland slaughter, but now, it seemed his early predictions were somewhat off, and there was still something to look forward to. Michelangelo didn’t believe his opponent was a madman or a fool, but to prove himself as a powerhouse, he had to pass his own test first. If it weren’t for Schiller’s special status, Michelangelo really would have preferred a one-on-one duel with his opponent.
Schiller was equally unable to contain his fury. No matter who he was, the mere fact that he dared to scorn the authority of the Court was enough to put him on the burning stake. As much as Schiller was infuriated by Komer’s arrogance, he had to admire his opponent’s courage.
"Whoever you are, state your name and identity! Why do you trespass in the Tower?" Schiller’s words almost seemed to grind out like ice chippings through his teeth. Despite the opponent’s insolence, as the acting head of the Court of the Church of Light, Schiller did not want to appear too discourteous in front of his fellow church members.
"Hmm, my name is Komer, and I’m sure you’ve already heard of me. As for my identity? Lord of both Homer and Caucasus, a noble of the Kingdom of Nicosia. Satisfied? As for my purpose, surely you know it even better. Noyola and Lorenzo provoked us for no reason, kidnapped my friend Rebry, and as a victim’s friend who seeks justice, is it wrong to come knocking?" Komer said, his smile brimming with confidence.
"Are you Komer?" Although they had a suspicion, a look of astonishment appeared on both Schiller’s and Michelangelo’s faces when Komer actually introduced himself. Wasn’t this man supposed to be in Caucasus? Could it be that he came here knowing that the Religious Court and Grand Archon Vazinsky had joined forces to annihilate him?
"Heh, what, is there someone else willing to impersonate me?" Komer’s smile gradually became cold. "Enough talk, let’s get to the point. We’ve wasted enough time, and that’s because I was in a good mood, but not anymore."
A flash of anger flickered through Schiller’s eyes. If this man really was Komer, then they truly needed to be careful in handling him. Both Noyola and Lord Lorenzo had placed great importance on this man, and he certainly wouldn’t dare to consider himself superior to those two lords. However, not having experienced that battle himself, he still felt a sense of superiority in his bones. These remnants of dark power dared to come to them, surely possessing some capabilities, but has anyone who challenged the Court ever ended well?
"Very well, Grand Mage Michelangelo, I would like to hear your thoughts. Lord Komer here is someone both parties have been anticipating, correct? How do you think we should deal with him?"
Looking around at his fellow Light Mages and then thinking of their location in Marco, the sliver of worry in Schiller’s heart vanished, replaced by an irrepressible joy. Being able to lead the Court’s personnel to kill this miscreant in the absence of Noyola and Lord Lorenzo might just spectacularly elevate his status, both within the Church of Light and across the entire Blue Continent. Such a temptation was enough to make anyone lose their sanity.
"Grand Sir Schiller, I follow your arrangements. However, I see that some of our Sir Knights are getting impatient. It would be best if we could consider their feelings," Michelangelo slightly furrowed his brow. Komer’s name was similarly heavy in his heart. The debacle in Onia and Iliana’s disappearance were both credited to this man, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and involved himself in many matters like a ghost.
The Thunderhorse Knights’ attention to this Komer hadn’t escaped Grand Archon Vazinsky’s keen eyes. Kent had personally led most of the Knights regiment to Cyprus, even causing conflict with Lecler, and Michelangelo was well aware of this situation. The reasons for this man’s involvement with Frenster remained unknown, but one thing was clear enough for Michelangelo to decide on keeping this man here—Saint Iliana was an entity Grand Archon Vazinsky held highly, and now that even the Light Heart Lock could not reliably contact her, only receiving sporadic information about her hiding in the southeast, was enough reason for Grand Archon Vazinsky to head south along with Noyola and Lorenzo upon receiving that bit of information about Iliana.
"Grand Mage Michelangelo, let’s follow your thought," Schiller suppressed the rising desire within his heart, stepped back, and grasped the white jade magic wand already held in his hand, ready for action. Confident that it was nearly impossible for the other party to escape under such overpowering circumstances, Schiller still intended to display a splendid move or two in front of the crowd to establish his authority.
Solberg virtually rose into the air without any indication, and although he couldn’t match the Heavenly Knight’s realm, his erupting Fighting Qi made gliding through the air no hard task. The once-clear knight spear in his hand lost its original form in an instant, transforming into a dark fan-shaped shadow that silently pressed forward.
The intense friction of the air created a sharp screech under the power of the knight spear’s dark force, tightly compressed into a very small space until the dark glow of the knight spear exploded out in an instant, and the piercing scream abruptly bloomed in the air, nearly ripping the eardrums of those present.
The color of arrogance remained on his face, and although he was aware that his opponent was not so easy to handle, arrogance and pride were the prerogatives of a Heavenly Knight, especially when facing these dark knights; this arrogance could be shown without restraint.
The crystal-clear knight spear just gave a gentle shake, and the milky bright Light Fighting Qi immediately burst forth, unfolding in the air like a holy white lotus, demonstrating its most exquisite grace, tenderly meeting the attack.
Like a clay ox entering the sea, the vigorous dark power, along with its piercing scream, approached the gently rising white lotus and vanished without a trace. The tip of the crystal-clear knight spear suddenly flashed behind the white lotus, firmly striking the fan shape formed by the dark knight’s spear—it was like a hammer breaking a giant ice, and with just that one strike, Solberg’s knight spear abruptly dropped to the ground like a beheaded dead dragon.
