Chapter 856: Volume 26, Poised for Action, Chapter 17: Two Interesting People
Komer couldn’t help laughing wildly, arrogance written all over his face, "Uma, have you also become so timid? This isn’t your style. What are you afraid of? Are you worried that she might strike back at you? I want her to know this and then to have her guard up as her mental defenses slowly crumble. Only then will this game be meaningful and flavorful. Don’t you think that a sudden attack is too tasteless?"
Although Uma was arrogant, he was somewhat dissatisfied with Komer’s "advance despite difficulties" attitude. Iliana’s Holy Light Origin was to directly confront his Dark Origin, and he was the frontline hotspot. With Iliana on guard, achieving his goal would be much more difficult. What meaning and flavor he spoke of was purely making trouble out of nothing, but now that they were exposed, he had no choice but to adopt a confident demeanor.
Komer didn’t want to explain further. An easy conquest was not favorable for understanding the existence of the Holy Light Origin. Only by gradually eroding the Light Arcane before him could he discover its subtleties, learn from its essence, identify its weaknesses, and implement targeted countermeasures. Komer wasn’t worried at all about Iliana turning the tables.
"Uma, there are many opportunities in this battle. You should take advantage of this to achieve your goals. Think it over, as such opportunities don’t come often." Komer’s smile always made Uma feel there was something unnatural. This guy always seemed to be scheming, giving the impression that he was offering Iliana’s body, but the complications that followed were incessant, leaving Uma hanging, yet unable to stop, while the other party could use this body to firmly bind him.
With a cold snort, Uma couldn’t find the right words to placate the other party. This battle would undoubtedly be extremely fierce, and Komer’s calling him was not just to help him refine and baptize himself. More importantly, it was to prevent unexpected events. The Undead Power he controlled was key to Komer’s interest in him. Uma had no objections, being able to showcase his strength against the Church of Light in the upcoming battle was enough for him. The thought of those Church of Light mages and Light Knights succumbing under his control of the Undead Power thrilled him uncontrollably.
Uma’s excitement immediately affected another presence within him. Iliana instantly sensed Uma’s evil intentions but, being firmly oppressed in a corner of the body, she could only strive to show through her existence that she would never surrender under the high pressure of these evil people. As long as she had breath, she would seize every possible chance to thwart their sinister plans.
Seeing the weird expression that surfaced on Uma’s face, Komer knew that the two were once again measuring each other up. This was an interesting affair indeed, being able to feel the presence of the enemy but unable to overpower or eliminate them. For both Uma and Iliana, this was a rare experience, especially valuable for the ultimate victor, as it was a rare opportunity to understand the opponent’s true nature.
With a light flick of his finger, a sinister image appeared in mid-air, drawn as if by the struggle within the body. The milky pattern, like a wisp of smoke, plunged into Uma’s body, and Iliana’s visage, holy yet laced with seductive traces, suddenly twisted as if struck by some demonic curse, becoming somewhat ferocious.
"Komer, what have you done?" Almost gritting her teeth, she squeezed out the words, the ferocity in her eyes now blazing.
"Don’t be so agitated. Isn’t it just that I’ve restricted your Dark Origin power a bit? Is it worth making such a fuss?" Komer chuckled carelessly, "I just think it seems somewhat unfair for you to always have the upper hand, and Iliana seems to have never had a real chance to show herself. Why not give her an opportunity to struggle a bit?"
"Are you mad? At this time, you pull this stunt without fearing it might ruin everything?"
Startled and enraged, Uma vigorously tried to activate his dark powers. Suddenly attacked by the Light Binding, he felt his Dark Origin power sharply decline. Meanwhile, Iliana’s long-dormant Holy Light Power explosively burst forth, almost instantly threatening to turn heaven and earth upside down. If not for the timely loosening of the Light Binding, it might have indeed been reversed by Iliana.
"I’m not mad. I just wanted to give you a taste of the battlefield atmosphere before the Great War, to stir up your emotions," Komer said unhurriedly with a smile, "How is it? Not bad, right?"
It was already too late to quarrel with Komer verbally. Uma’s entire attention was on how to suppress the boiling Holy Light Power within him. Suddenly given such an opportunity, even knowing it was likely a trap, Iliana was ready to take a risk. The taste of dwelling in darkness was too bitter to bear. After all, having reached this point, there was nothing to lose by trying. Either way, it would be back to the original situation, and Iliana was confident about maintaining her inner defenses.
