"If that’s the case, I do have a suitable body that should fit you. His profession was probably a thief, but I think any thief who could escape from the hands of the Church of Light’s Thunderhorse Knight Group must be extraordinary. Moreover, it’s quite clear he possessed a considerable level of magic power. The Sappan Divine Wood Arrow killed him on the spot, and its poison has completely sealed his body. But the poison shouldn’t affect you, right?" Komer carefully sought the other’s opinion.
"Oh? Sappan Wood? The Divine Wood held as a treasure by the Bright Holy Teaching? It seems then that the owner of this body must have been one of our own kind. The poison does no harm to the body’s energy channels; it simply destroys the blood within the body. For me, that can only be a good thing. Possessing a body with Sappan poison might even provide some protection of its own."
Sensing the other party’s good mood, Komer hesitated a bit before saying, "However, this body is a male corpse. I wonder if you would mind?"
"A male corpse?! Is that what you meant by asking if gender mattered?" A strange and somewhat angry response came through, clearly not expecting such an issue to arise.
"Senior, as you well know, finding a corpse that meets your needs is very difficult. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been trapped for hundreds of years. I suggest you give it a try. If you find a more suitable body after escaping, you can always switch then. To be honest, I’m not too keen on using my own amulet for survival. Having a zombie that had already entered the initial phase of the Golden Corpse is a talisman that can protect me. Losing it would increase my danger. Although the senior entering the Golden Corpse’s body might make it several times more formidable, it wouldn’t be as easy to command as it is for me. Wouldn’t it be better to find another substitute?"
The other party was clearly irritated and reluctant, but the desire to escape the trap had been nagging them for hundreds of years. Now that they had such an opportunity, how could they simply give it up? Komer was right; suitable bodies are not easy to come by. Besides, once out, the sky is vast for birds to soar, and the sea is wide for fish to leap. Couldn’t they find a suitable female corpse after escape? Perhaps even one that perfectly matched their previous life’s body and freed them from all fetters and restrictions. Perhaps it was these thoughts that made them reluctantly agree to Komer’s suggestion.
"If that’s the case, you may go to the third door on the right and open the secret door. There is an earth-based magic prohibition on the door, which you can break open using water-based magic. Inside, you’ll find some crystals. The colorless and transparent one is the crystal capable of housing a soul. Take it out for me to enter, then place it on the vessel. Use psychic summoning magic to call a part of my magic soul into your body to reside temporarily. Establish a spiritual connection, and that way, I can complete the possession."
Seeing the other party’s eagerness to experience freedom, even overlooking gender differences, Komer found it amusing. But thinking about it, after being trapped for hundreds of years, finally having a chance to see daylight again, such feelings were entirely comprehensible.
When Komer broke open the earth-based magic "Burial," the secret door finally opened. A neatly arranged array of compartments appeared in front of him. Under the Holy Light Spell, the colorful magic crystals glowed with a magnificent and luxurious luster. Even Komer, used to grand scenes, couldn’t help but be shocked and mesmerized by the sight before him; it was like a collection hall of magic crystals!
The fiery red ones were, of course, fire magic crystals, and with them, creating high-level fire magic scrolls would be as easy as flipping one’s palm. The dark ones flowing with a faint glimmer were undeniably dark magic crystals. After a brief survey, Komer estimated there were enough dark crystals in the cabinet for his use for at least a year or two; he wouldn’t have to worry about running out. The pale blue crystals were surely ice magic crystals, and those nearly colorless and transparent were the spirit magic crystals. There were also dark yellow earth-based magic crystals, light aqua wood magic crystals, and those that seemed to flicker with sparks were thunder-based magic crystals. Dazzled, Komer was almost intoxicated with the sight. Any mage who saw this scene would have trouble controlling their emotions, and Komer was no exception. Such a vast quantity and variety of crystals could only have come from the treasures left by the Dark Empire; Komer could not imagine anyone else having the means to acquire such a collection.
Having swallowed his saliva several times, Komer finally recognized the reminder from his companion: "Hey, does it feel a bit like a country bumpkin entering the city? This is just a part. This bunker houses the accumulated legacy of the Dark Dynasty. If I have the chance, I will introduce each to you one by one. But for now, why don’t you complete the immediate tasks at hand, all right?"
Despite detecting the sarcasm in their words, Komer wasn’t bothered. Such a rich collection would tempt anyone, but it was not yet enough to make him lose consciousness.
What followed naturally fell into place. Once the energy body was summoned and resided within by Komer’s psychic magic, a series of complex procedures were finally completed. Accompanied by a corpse still glowing with a faint yellow hue, it slowly stretched its body, moving and inspecting each part as if it had just woken from a big dream. The corpse examined every portion of its new body with care, as if it were appreciating a piece of art with an innovative design.

Komer watched with great interest the somewhat amusing scene unfolding before him, as the predecessor clearly was still not quite used to this body that had just become her own. She flipped and flopped about, experimenting with her movements—lifting her legs, waving her arms, bending her waist, and cocking her head. After performing all sorts of exotic movements to her satisfaction, she finally raised her head contentedly and nodded. Although the soul-possession technique came with many restrictions, at least she finally had a body that she could freely control according to her will, without having to spend a lifetime in the dark dungeons below. The thought of enjoying the freedom she hadn’t tasted for three hundred years gave her an urge to indulge herself.
"Predecessor, you could try to see if you can speak now?" Komer finally broke the silence, no longer needing to use the tedious mental communication to talk.
"Well, I suppose I can now," said a voice that was somewhat hoarse and accented, which to Komer’s ears was a delight. The soul-possession ritual had succeeded at last—she could listen and speak without any problems.
"Congratulations, Predecessor. I haven’t asked for your distinguished name yet?" Komer breathed a sigh of relief, now communication would be much more convenient. Even though he knew that the other was just an energy entity inhabiting the Golden Corpse, it would still be portrayed through a physical form, which at the very least seemed more pleasing to the eye.
"Me? Ah, it has been so long since I’ve used my name, I almost forgot it. You can call me Uma." The other party was still busily adapting to the new body, fussing and posturing in front of Komer. Some male characteristics were obviously quite unsettling for her—a flat chest and a bulge below the waist made the physiological features all too bizarre and pronounced for someone who psychologically identified as a woman.
"How do you feel, Miss Uma?" Komer couldn’t help but scratch his head, the question itself sounding strange as he addressed the Golden Corpse before him as "Miss," which was quite comical.
"Hmm, not bad. Your psychic power is very strong. It seems His Majesty has completely transferred his spiritual power to you. However, you still seem unable to fully utilize it, which will take some time. I believe you can do it. Maybe even better than His Majesty did." She couldn’t help but sigh faintly as she spoke, "His Majesty was too obstinate, otherwise, it wouldn’t have come to this!"
The feminized language coming from the mouth of the male thief before him made Komer’s skin crawl, even the way she looked at him seemed off, making the hairs on his back stand on end. Being alone in a room with her was uncomfortably eerie.
"Miss Uma, may I select some of these crystal stones? I am very interested in making magic tools, and these items are very useful to me. Well, you could say I really need them." Komer’s gaze fell upon several Magic Crystals sparkling like fireflies. The Hammer of Thor, a high-level Thunder Magic spell, consumed a vast amount of magic power but was incredibly useful. Komer had always hoped to create two or three scrolls of the Hammer of Thor for self-defense. However, Thunder Magic Crystals were rumored to be nonexistent on the Blue Continent, said to be found only in the far reaches of the Mang Continent. Even in the magic material markets of Prague, in the Bohemia Kingdom, Komer had found none for sale, so he could only look on with envy. But now, the Thunder Magic Crystals in this secret chamber were more than enough to make five or more scrolls of the Hammer of Thor, no wonder Komer was tempted.
"Well, you have a good eye. There are no Thunder Crystals on the Blue Continent. These are treasures His Majesty brought back from an expedition to the Mang Continent, and there are only a few left. Of course, you can take them if you need them. Now, you are His Majesty’s heir. The duty of guardianship I took on has ended. Everything in this bunker belongs to you, including those dark warriors and myself, hehe. Of course, there are some things that you may not be able to control at present, but I believe it won’t be long before you can fully adapt to the role that’s now rightfully yours."
The ambiguous tone coming from a man’s mouth made Komer’s hairs stand up once more, but it did nothing to dampen his excitement. The mere content of this crystal vault was enough to make Mages of the Whole Continent green with envy. If Rebry, Mihailovich, and Newman learned of this, they would likely take the risk no matter how great. But now, everything was under Komer’s control, including treasures he was yet to discover within the bunker. Hehe, he did not fear that those fellows would fail to serve him well.
