Chapter 595: Volume 15: Thunder Shakes the Ground Chapter 13: In the Midst of Darkness (4)

Lome had been paying close attention to every move of Vladimir Koff, whose burst of formidable power upon leaping into the air left her in awe. So far, this was the first time she had witnessed the silent and reticent Dark Knight showcase his true strength. His Dark Fighting Qi reached its apex, creating a buzzing sound like a swarm of metal bees from the Knight Spear, indicating that under the influence of his Dark Fighting Qi, the spear had achieved a considerable level of power. Even a dark magical beast like the Komola Python would be unable to withstand the Knight Spear’s edge filled with magically enhanced Fighting Qi.

However, Vladimir Koff had underestimated the Komola Python, a dark magical beast that naturally possessed Earth-Origin Magic Power. Having long devoured the earth’s essence, it had extraordinary magical power in this domain. Besides its innate dark magical prowess, the Earth-Origin was an absolute strength of this super magical beast with dual magic powers.

As soon as Lome saw the Komola Python raise its head and open its gaping maw, she knew Vladimir Koff was in trouble. The Knight Spear, fueled with Dark Fighting Qi, was indeed invincible, but Vladimir Koff himself was still vulnerable in the flesh. These exotic magical beasts had a retaliatory power upon being attacked that far exceeded normal expectations, and their inherent strength was not commonly understood by warriors. Even Lome found it strange how intimately she understood the strength and nature of these dark magical beasts; to her recollection, she had never conducted specialized research or gained an understanding of these creatures. Yet, the moment the Komola Python opened its mouth and spewed out a pale yellow magical mist, Lome’s intuition told her that the python was about to release petrifying magic gas. At the same time, Light-element Melting Magic materialized in front of Lome’s chest, rapidly transforming into a colossal pillar of light.

At this point, Vladimir Koff’s senses were completely lost. He felt utterly numb all over, and his actions were driven purely by the last surge of inertia. He couldn’t even manage to close his eyes, resembling a knight statue, spear held high, thundering towards the giant head of the Komola Python with unreserved force, unable to hold back, and as soon as he was to land in this state, he would shatter upon the floor like a hard but brittle stone statue.

The magical gas released by the Komola Python, at the cost of its vital essence, was an act of desperate self-harm, somewhat similar to that of magical beasts self-destructing their Magic Crystals to perish together with their opponent. While it wouldn’t result in instant death, even if the Komola Python survived, its power would greatly diminish, and it might never regain the strength it had at its peak. Such measures were not taken lightly by magical beasts unless in a life-and-death situation. Against the onslaught of pure essence magic turned to stone gas, Vladimir Koff had practically no defense; ordinary protective magic like defense shields were utterly incapable of resisting this primordial magic mist that penetrated every part of the body.

The brilliance emanating from the Knight Spear did not fade in the slightest due to the loss of Vladimir Koff’s consciousness. A momentary lapse of awareness could not reverse the overwhelming surge of vigor, and the enormous gaping maw met the radiant spear light that shimmered like the Milky Way. The resulting dull sound, like smashing a large watermelon, came despite the Komola Python raising an earthen shield over its head, and despite its rows of teeth sharp as saws. Yet, when faced with this peak strike of Dark Fighting Qi, the beast was rendered as helpless as if struck by a whirlwind, unstoppable in its force.

The massive head was shattered instantly, and the buzzing Knight Spear’s blade completed thirty-six thrusts back and forth over the Komola Python’s head in the blink of an eye. Its head, now as broken as the flesh of a burst watermelon, came tumbling down, while its two rows of sharp teeth were like unripe watermelon seeds, pale and scattering amidst the crimson muddle of brain and blood.

With its head destroyed, the Komola Python’s massive body writhed madly, bringing disaster upon the surrounding Demon Scorpion Group. The python’s last struggle, thick as a barrel, was like a giant roller turning over and over on the ground, crushing everything in its path. Despite the Demon Scorpions’ tenacity, they could not withstand the dying outburst of the python, turning the entire scene into a river of blood and a pool of corpses.

The demise of the Komola Python did not bring any change to Vladimir Koff’s current predicament. Having turned into a stone statue, as the force behind the last strike of the Knight Spear dissipated, Vladimir Koff was utterly stiffened, his trajectory set in a high dive. Even as he inwardly despaired of his fate, having not achieved his aspirations, he realized suddenly that his body seemed able to move again. Twisting joyfully, he found that this was not an illusion. Meanwhile, the Demon Scorpions below were eagerly anticipating his descent for their feast.

A dazzling, enchanting light trailed his Knight Spear, as the pure and flawless pillar of Holy Light enveloped Vladimir Koff’s plummeting form. Just as he lamented his untimely end, he discovered that his body was suddenly movable again. Delighted, he turned his body to find it wasn’t an illusion, while the Demon Scorpions below were eagerly waiting for his body to fall so they could feast upon it.

With the resurgence of consciousness, Vladimir Koff’s Fighting Qi exploded anew within him, turning into specks of light like falling blossoms, scattering like celestial maidens dispersing flowers. Each point of light, intertwining reality and illusion, erupted with intense murderous intent. Dozens of Demon Scorpions, rushing forward, were spun away, massacred by the splendid "Heavenly Luo Sha." Though this spectacle exhausted Vladimir Koff’s magical power, it turned the opportunistic Demon Scorpions into minced meat.

Vladimir Koff, who staggered to his feet, felt a sudden surge of boundless energy in his previously somewhat weakened body. He didn’t need to guess to know that his companions had definitely cast a recovery spell on him. At this moment, he didn’t have time to see who had cast the recovery spell, as the three black demon bats swooping down were clearly targeting him. His knight spear bloomed once more with clusters of deep blue star flowers. A 360-degree wide-range piercing enveloped all three black demon bats, which had been about to scatter and attack. Amidst their shrill screams, the three demon bats turned to sludge in a mist of blood, splattering in all directions.

Lome’s dispelling magic freed Vladimir Koff from his petrification, and Komer’s recovery magic helped the somewhat depleted Vladimir Koff to rally. The right flank still required Vladimir Koff’s presence to hold it; otherwise, a single breach could cause the entire defense line to collapse. Shatima had already been ensnared in the melee, forcing Komer to release three Dark Fire Skeletons early as substitutes to stand in front of him for Shatima.

When Vladimir Koff slaughtered one Komola Python, another one stealthily appeared in front. Komer knew that one strike from such a creature could be lethal. Instead of passively waiting for it to attack, it was better to take the initiative. The three Dark Fire Skeletons might be able to hold off the Demon Scorpions, but against a Komola Python, a king among earth-based dark Magical Beasts, the Dark Fire Skeletons seemed too frail. The Komola Python’s thick scales and massive body were too much for the Dark Fire Skeletons to withstand, and ordinary physical and magic attacks could hardly inflict substantial damage on it.

Komer, having made up his mind, no longer hesitated. After a continuous release of gestures and spells, thunder began to rumble over the entire square. Hammer of Thor! This was one of Komer’s few top-tier thunder-based spells that had saved him on numerous occasions.

In the rolling dense clouds and mist, the vague figure of the Thunder God began to emerge overhead. With the space of the arena limited, the image of the Thunder God seemed to have been significantly scaled down. Thunder spells were more suitable for release in the open, where there was an ample supply of natural elements for it to absorb and release, but inside, such power would be considerably weakened.

The thick, hairy legs of the Thunder God appeared and disappeared in the clouds, and the constantly churning mist and flashing sparks immediately alerted all the attacking Magical Beasts to the looming crisis. For dark Magical Beasts, apart from Light Series magic, thunder-based magic was also capable of causing them harm. This variant among Elemental Magic was the natural bane of dark Magical Beasts, whose resistance to it was the lowest; of course, this didn’t mean that they were utterly defenseless against such magic.

The Komola Python’s massive head dove under its enormous body, seemingly aware that the rolling Thunder God in mid-air was targeting it. Its body swiftly contracted, and in an instant, it attempted to escape from the Demon Scorpion formation, looking like it was preparing to flee into the Dark Depths to avoid this calamity.

However, by this time, it was a bit too late. Just as the Komola Python slid out from the Demon Scorpion Group, it presented the best target for the Hammer of Thor. A Magical Beast would always be just that – although it could sense an impending crisis, it was unable to find the best means of escape or defense. If the Komola Python had hidden itself within the thick crowd of Demon Scorpions, even if the Hammer of Thor hit it, the Demon Scorpions’ innate Dark Magic Power would have helped it share a considerable degree of the attack power. But now, as the Komola Python wriggled out from the group of Demon Scorpions, it undeniably made itself the most prominent target for the Hammer of Thor.

The black, massive Hammer of Thor in the indistinct hands of the Thunder God exploded suddenly like a dazzling starburst, emitting countless sparkling electric arcs. A dense network of electric arcs plummeted downwards, enveloping the head of the Komola Python that had just attempted to dive into the darkness. The intense electric arcs, attracted by the Komola Python’s Dark Magic Power, released a powerful explosion in an instant. The booming sound of thunder surrounded the Komola Python. At that moment, it was a matter of life and death!
