Chapter 533: Volume 13: Sea Rain and Heavenly Wind Chapter 3: Hidden Dragon in the Great Marsh

"What’s going on?" Komer looked forward in astonishment.

The huge fluctuations of power could not possibly be caused by any single person. Rebry and Solonberg no longer had the relaxed expression they had earlier, especially Rebry. His time-worn face seemed to have suddenly ingested several doses of stimulants, shock mixed with anticipation. The complicated feelings made the wrinkles on his face seem to reduce in number.

The group of jellyfish warriors, who had been silent around Komer and his party, also showed a slight restlessness. Clearly, they had also noticed something unusual about the situation. However, faced with these unwelcome guests, they seemed unsure whether to investigate the incident or continue monitoring them.

In the end, the jellyfish people left five warriors to stand by, while the others turned into countless water arrows, swiftly disappearing into the Reed Marsh amidst ripples.

The Reed Marsh seemed to be swept up by a huge tornado, enormous water pillars mixed with leaves and branches shot towards the sky.

The entire Reed Marsh was as if struck by a hurricane, with tumultuous upheaval. Enormous vortexes formed from the green waves, producing piercing, screeching sounds as they rose from the ground into the air. A black shadow appeared and disappeared within, its deep roars echoing across the sky.

An oval mass of water slowly formed in the air, at least a hundred meters in diameter and less than a hundred meters from the surface. Its color changed from azure to dark blue and finally to ink black. The fierce current seemed to spin wildly under the pull of some force, bringing with it an unrivaled wind and thunder.

Komer could hardly believe his eyes. Could this also be a magic storm formed by a mage?

Was it Water Magic or wind magic?

Could there really be such a formidable mage among the Jellyfish People?

If it were true, why had there never been any mention of such an outstanding individual among the Jellyfish People on the Continent?

Before he could fully process this thought, an anomaly occurred again in the Reed Marsh. Two sword qi shot up towards the heavens like comets streaking across the sky, slicing through the clear blue, heading straight for the water mass. They burst with the brilliance of stars, magnificent like the Milky Way turned upside down; blue and white intertwined, the blue like aqua drapes, the white like snowy ribbons. Dazzling light scattered in all directions, illuminating the sky, making those two sword qi look to Komer as if they could split the heavens and pierce the rainbow.

Not only did Komer’s face turn pale with fright. But also, Rebry and Solonberg were full of shock. Such grand sword qi was beyond the ordinary and was close to the holy level, definitely not something that could be produced with a simple level of Fighting Qi. Even Solonberg, who had made rapid progress under Komer’s guidance, had to admit he was outclassed.

But the appearance of such an expert in the Jellyfish People’s territory, which had never before admitted outsiders, was truly inconceivable. Could it be that this too was a master among the Jellyfish People?!

And what about that black shadow forming the water mist mass? Everything happening before his eyes was simply too astonishing.

The two sword qi, one blue and one white, instantly cut through the sky and pierced into the water mass that was rapidly spinning in the air.

The shadow that was intermittently visible seemed to have sensed the impending danger. Under the influence of some great force, the water mass suddenly shrank, becoming smaller and more compact, with the speed of its rotation increasing. It even suddenly split into two vortexes, one clockwise, the other counter-clockwise, forming powerful currents and airflow. The previously piercing screams diminished but became intensely soul-stirring, affecting people’s hearts and minds.

It was like a magical firework suddenly bursting into bloom in the air. The water mass transformed into a towering mist, revealing a seven-colored rainbow under the sun’s rays, confronting the two sword qi head-on. However, the power of the sword qi was overwhelmingly mighty, and in an instant, it dispersed the towering mist into vapor that fled in all directions. The black shadow seemed to have nowhere to hide, using the immense force of the mist to leap and trace a gorgeous arc in the air, narrowly plunging into the water.

Only at that moment did everyone discern that the black shadow was not a human form, but rather a massive dragon body.

The graceful dragon neck, like the lovely curve of a swan’s, displayed a captivating line, and the huge wings were of similar aqua-purple. The flapping of wings filled with dragon aura caused fishes in the water and insects in the grass to flee in panic.

The dark blue scales on the dragon’s body shimmered erratically with its flight, glaringly vivid against the sky. The colossal feet, thick as pillars, revealed black steel claws akin to iron anchors, especially the ferocious dragon head, whose gleaming eyes roved guardedly. With each breath, mist as white as frost exhaled from its nostrils, quickly turning into a substantive fog once it left the body. The clucking of razor-sharp teeth echoed each time the enormous maw snapped shut—clearly, the dragon was seething with rage over the attack it had endured.

Komer looked to Rebry and Solonberg in surprise, only to see that although they were startled, they were not caught off guard. Evidently, they had identified it as a bona fide dragon before it even made its appearance.

Solonberg’s power had already been pushed to the limit, and Rebry was even more rare in that he held his Magic Wand in hand. The faint glimmering from the wand suggested that Rebry was aware of the perilousness of the situation. He had already activated his magic power, preparing himself for any unforeseen incidents.

Two bursts of Sword Qi suddenly swerved, slicing through the sky’s azure waves with ferocious momentum, sealing off the dragon’s path to the water before it could dive in. If the dragon intended to submerge, it would have to confront the onslaught of white Sword Qi head-on.

The dragon nimbly contorted its body in mid-air, dodging the slice of the white Sword Qi, but the blue Sword Qi trailing behind emitted a piercing screech through the air. The one driving the Sword Qi was clearly relentless, intent on condemning the dragon to death, unhesitatingly wielding the warrior’s most refined Saint Yuan Power. By the final moment, the blue Sword Qi had nearly turned transparent, and the surrounding air elements rapidly dissipated, the space visibly distorting under the oppressive energy of the formidable Sword Qi.

With a majestic shake of its head, the dragon emitted a roar that made Komer feel momentarily deaf. The dragon head thrust forward in fury, unleashing a burst of indigo breath. It collided with the transparent Sword Qi that pursued, emitting a tremble like a bee’s buzz. Like a shattered lantern, they exploded into a shower of light and color, blooming into a spectacular firework before fading away.

The dragon’s breath turned into faint layers of mist, rippling gently outward, and the extremely cold water vapor instantly condensed into pearls of ice in the air, falling in a noisy clatter and creating countless tiny ripples on the water’s surface.

The subsequent burst of aggressive Sword Qi dissipated like smoke beneath that irresistible dragon breath. What force could withstand the breath of a dragon?

This was the true imperial might of the king of the Continent—how could mortals dare compare themselves to it?

Just as the dragon, with head held high and tail lashing, sought the other wielder of Sword Qi, the Reed Marsh stirred once again. Suddenly, a myriad of arrows burst forth like locusts, dense and relentless, all targeting the solitary Ice Dragon that had arrogantly descended to less than twenty meters above the water. The ripples of the dragon’s breath caused the first volley of arrows to lose their effect almost immediately, turning into icy shards upon contact and falling into the water. But the second and third wave of arrows shot up relentlessly, fixated on the dragon’s form, sticking to it like burrs on bones.

The flustered Ice Dragon only then realized that its opponent had come well-prepared, unlike the chance encounter it had imagined. Although the dragon’s thick skin was impervious to the tickling arrow shots, its keen sense of smell had already detected a faint fragrance permeating the air.

That was the scent of Dragon Saliva Fragrance, a poor-quality product from the lowest ranks of the Dragon Realm—the saliva of the Turtle Dragon nourishes a special plant that produces this liquid, which, to those feeble humans, becomes an excessively costly fragrance.

It might have seemed like an insignificant matter that concerned petty humans, yet for all members of the Dragon Clan, this was the quintessential drug for inducing unconsciousness in dragons, especially if the liquid ever touched dragon blood—the effects were astonishing.

Not a single species within the Dragon Clan had shown immunity to this bizarre plant liquid; the only solution was to avoid it altogether. Once contaminated, the only recourse was to withdraw to a secluded, safe place and sleep for several days until the effects waned and then return with a vengeance. The fact that these accursed jellyfish ants had learned this tactic enraged the Ice Dragon as much as it astonished it.

With a powerful flap of its enormous wings, the Ice Dragon dispelled the direction of thousands of arrows, but wave after wave of arrow rain seemed endless, persistently targeting each of the dragon’s evasive maneuvers. The wings and underbelly were the dragon’s vulnerable spots, and a hit from these arrows steeped in Dragon Saliva Fragrance would mean immediate flight for survival.

The Ice Dragon knew that the one whose Sword Qi it had shattered was still lurking deep in the Reed Marsh. With just one strike of its breath, it had only injured the opponent’s internal force and not fatally. That scheming adversary had immediately sealed off his Yuan Force meridians upon sensing the dragon’s breath. The dragon’s retaliatory blow through the Sword Qi failed to significantly harm the foe.

Moreover, the dragon was in mortal peril of the owner of the white Sword Qi. It could feel both adversaries’ divine abilities locking onto it with a spell-binding concentration. Should it be poisoned by those arrows now, it would be unable to escape their relentless pursuit, no matter where it fled.

With a surging of its immense tail, just as it neared the water’s surface, the tail swept horizontally across the Reed Marsh with such devastating force that even Komer’s group, two hundred meters away, could clearly feel the terrifying power.

The enormous dragon’s tail seemed to uproot the entire Reed Marsh, the leaves and branches mingling with the water in an explosive rupture—an attack of such tyrannical force!

The jellyfish warriors hidden in the marsh’s waters were instantly flattened by this fierce blow. However freely they swam, under the colossal pressure of that single swipe, they were reduced to dust. Murky red pools of blood bubbled up from the water and soon, numerous corpses floated to the surface.
