Chapter 436: Volume 9: Phantom of the Ancient Castle Chapter 4: Treasure_2
"Heh, Mr. Mihailovich, it seems you still don’t quite believe my judgment?" Komer’s hand once again delved into the breast of the fallen Mysterious Magician. After some searching, the object he brought out was quite telling, "What do you think this is?"
It was a woman’s brassiere, made of pure white silk, but embroidered at the center was a naked Light Angel in flight, affirming her identity. It was the unique symbol of the Church of Light. Perhaps some were skilled in using Light Magic, but only important figures in the Church of Light would have a Light Angel sewn onto their intimate garments.
"Is she the Saintess of the Church of Light?!" Almost everyone’s gaze darkened. If even the Saintess of the Church of Light was sent to infiltrate their adventuring party, it meant they had all become thorns in the side of the Church. Escaping the Church of Light’s pursuit in this lifetime would likely be difficult.
"No, do you really think a Saintess of the Church of Light would be at such a level? Although her mana and magic are quite powerful, they still fall short of the standard we imagine for a Light Saintess. If she truly were the Light Saintess, would we still be standing here so peacefully?" Komer shook his head.
"Hmm, the power of the Light Saintess should surely be beyond this, but this woman must also be an important figure within the Church of Light. Aside from the several major Knights regiments, only their male Magicians are seen out and about. I have some recollection of the notable female Knights within the Church, and she is not one of them. Moreover, judging by her performance, her Magic Skills far exceed her martial arts. She must be one of the Mages; however, with the Church of Light’s numerous branches and many female Mages concealing their true identities and seldom going out, it is difficult for us to determine her exact identity."
Rebry agreed with Komer’s opinion. He knew very well that the power of the Light Saintess was not something the present company could handle.
"Alright, leave it to me, we have our ways to make her confess everything we want to know, but not now. With the internal threat removed, it seems it’s time for us to see what rewards Mr. Newman’s hard work has earned, right?"
Komer stood up, prompting everyone to refocus their attention on the secret chamber. The triple Dark Binding, penetrating deep into the bone, left the Mysterious Magician on the ground utterly unable to resist. Meanwhile, the effect of Komer’s thunder-based Magic made the Mysterious Magician completely paralyzed, unable to move for at least two hours.
What a dazzling scene it was! As Newman slowly opened the secret door with his magic, what was revealed to the breathlessly awaiting crowd was a sight so astonishing, it could drive one to madness!
"Oh! What is that?! The Aladin Wand?! Pyrros’ Map?! I can’t believe my own eyes! Sir, is this real? I swear on the name of Hades, God of the Underworld, this is the most splendid thing I have ever seen in my life!"
A usually calm and composed Rebry was now prostrated in front of the wooden rack, his gaze fixed on a pure black crystal staff lying there as if it had been asleep for a hundred years. Next to it, a wooden box with strange characters engraved stood, with Rebry almost pressing his face against it, murmuring as if in a dream.
"This, this, this is a miracle! ’Pavaro Star Arithmetic’?! No one could take it from me!"
Being the first to step through the secret door was naturally Newman. His gaze was already firmly fixed on a thick book on one of the shelves. Without hesitation to any potential danger, he lunged forward to grab the book, kissing it while flipping through its pages, his eyes nearly drowning in its contents, oblivious to the world around him.
"Oh, my God, it is true, all of this is simply too wonderful."
The Puppet Mage’s attention was wholly captivated by a metal magic doll placed in a corner. He strode up to it in three quick steps, yet didn’t dare come too close, only gazing at it with an infatuated and worshipful look.
It was some time before the Puppet Mage finally knelt on one knee, his trembling hands caressing each joint of the doll, carefully examining each critical part before pressing his fingers into the doll’s eyes.
A "click," and the doll’s head sprung open, revealing a gleaming Magic Crystal within, "Exquisite, truly exquisite, to witness it is to die without regrets!"
The murmuring did not escape Komer, who was standing by. He shook his head with a mute chuckle, finding the obsession of normally stoic Magicians over material possessions quite ridiculous.
The two Dark Knights were no better; one fondling a dim, lightless long sword on the Weapon Rack as if it was a treasure, the other caressing silver shining armor worn by a wooden model warrior. Both items must have been extraordinary for they both seemed deeply moved.
Sighs filled the secret chamber, and it wasn’t until Komer, unable to bear it any longer, coughed sharply several times that everyone was brought back to reality.
Seeing everyone looking a little embarrassed for their spectacle, Komer suppressed the urge to burst out laughing and spoke slowly, "Ladies and gentlemen, it seems our expedition has finally borne fruit. Observing everyone’s expressions, it looks like you have all found your heart’s desire. As the lord of Damarlinsk Castle, and grateful for your help, our venture has reached some goals. Although we have not yet achieved our main objective, we still have plenty of time. Perhaps the next adventure will bring even greater rewards."
