Chapter 427: Volume 8: Gathering of Wind and Clouds, Chapter 14: Shock

Glancing at Komer, the Mysterious Magician didn’t offer any explanation. Almost simultaneously, another slender hand began to swiftly weave and point haphazardly. Silver-white halos of light emerged one after the other above the horde of giant ape corpses, and as the mage finished her incantation, these rings of lights stacked up at a certain speed, explosively forming a wave-like tower that suddenly burst open, covering almost all the giant ape zombies with countless dots of light that fell like snow.

The strange shrieks of "squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak" instantly filled the entire passage. The giant ape zombies that were hit by the specks of light trembled and shook violently; some even began to struggle and fall to the ground, as milky mist continuously emerged from their bodies, and areas hit by the light began to fester with the range of decay expanding.

Rebry, who inhaled sharply, now had a worried look amid his surprise. Perhaps others weren’t very knowledgeable about this sort of Light Magic, but for him, who had been dealing with high-level figures in the Church of Light for a long time, he knew their magic spells all too well.

This was not an ordinary spell that any mage could cast casually, nor one that a mage with Dark Magic Power could perform. Just the requirement of Holy Element Power necessary to cast such a spell demanded that the caster possess pure Light magic power. The mysterious and unpredictable female mage was able to pull off such a top-tier Orthodox and Direct Inheritance of Light Magic—"Thousand Mountains Snow Reflection"—without any trickery.

If Rebry hadn’t seen that her mastery of this spell hadn’t yet reached perfection, he would almost suspect that she was a heavyweight from the Church of Light.

Even so, these dark world’s undead creatures, after being subjected to such extremely pure Light Magic, most of their bodies were transformed, continuously rotting into hollow shapes. Moreover, under the suppressive force of the Gravity Spell, they had trouble even moving and, before they could close in on the attack zone, had already fallen to the ground, turning into pools of pus scattered on the floor.

Who exactly was this person? Although the exploration hadn’t ended, and though mages typically didn’t inquire about each other’s origins, and even though Rebry trusted Mihailovich’s guarantee, seeing one after another of the giant ape zombies fall and dissolve into sludge, his heart couldn’t help but be filled with shock.

This was too terrifying, it was simply more unbelievable than witnessing the Dark God Hades himself. How could a dark wizard cast such an unparalleled Light Magic spell? Could they still be called a dark wizard? Unless she was not a dark wizard at all!

Komer was equally astonished. Even he himself couldn’t cast such a high-level Light Magic spell. Although a spell that purely relied on Holy Power could cause significant damage to the undead, its demand on the caster’s mana was incredibly high—Komer was far from achieving that, but this mysterious person had managed it.

Komer hadn’t thought about it like Rebry. After all, even though he himself was rooted in Dark Power, he could still cast quite a few Light Magic spells, and he hadn’t yet realized the potential immense threat posed by this enigmatic individual.

The other mages and Dark Knights were also very shocked, but they clearly hadn’t thought as deeply about it as the two of them. After all, everyone has their specialization. The world of magic is as vast as a sea of stars; spending a lifetime studying it barely gives one a glimpse through the doorway. A mage can’t possibly know too much about the knowledge of other paths; the difference is like that between different professions. It’s just that Rebry, because of his long-term involvement with the big shots of the Church of Light, was particularly sensitive to this area.

Mihailovich was mainly known for his Undead Magic and Puppet Magic, while Newman made a name for himself relying on Dark Magic and crafting Magic tools. As for the two Dark Knights, magic was a subsidiary tool for them—they worshiped the enhancement of personal strength through Martial Arts Training. They simply preferred the colossal destructive power that dark-natured magic afforded, and therefore, they chose Dark Magic.

Perhaps realizing the tremendous shock her spell had caused everyone, the Mysterious Magician took the initiative to explain that she could cast Light Magic that was normally unimaginable to others with such ease because she possesses a quite precious Light Magical Instrument that she kept as a personal treasure.

Such an explanation could certainly pass muster for the other mages who didn’t understand it too well, because the power of a special Magical Instrument could substantially enhance a caster’s own mana, making it a reasonable explanation for their ability to perform beyond their normal level.

However, for Rebry and Komer, this explanation only increased their suspicions. In Rebry’s view, such a covering-up explanation was clearly concealing some purpose. The fact that the mage possessed a strong and pure Light Magic Power determined that she couldn’t possibly also have Dark Magic Power. Since she wasn’t a person of the dark, what was it that convinced Mihailovich of her identity?

And what was her purpose in coming here?

These questions wrapped around in Rebry’s mind, dulling his interest in the adventure and making him more curious about this individual’s identity and motives. Perhaps this person was hiding many secrets that would surprise them, potentially making her a good target. At this moment, an evil thought had begun to take shape in Rebry’s heart.
