Chapter 392: Volume 7 Spring Thunder Awakens Hibernating Insects Chapter 13 The Strong Ones

Vero’s arrival finally brought Komer the first spring since he arrived in Caucasus. The girl’s delicate and sweet voice seemed to be echoing in Komer’s ears all the time. Komer didn’t know if he had fallen into the web of love not just once. However, in the eyes of Puber and Ilot, it was a look of disdain. Was pretending to question oneself at such a time a bit too hypocritical for their boss?

Vero came to evade a matchmaking encounter. Upon learning by chance that the prince of the neighboring Bohemia was soon to visit Galle and intended to meet with her, even Vero, inexperienced in worldly affairs, knew what this implied. Without any preparation, she drifted away. She didn’t hate marriage, but she detested the shackles that sought to decide her lifelong happiness without even meeting the person. Thus, she chose to travel abroad.

It was only when she stepped out of the Archduke’s Mansion that she realized she had nowhere to go. Amidst the vast sea of people, there wasn’t a single confidant she could truly talk to. She had plenty of female friends, but those girls from aristocratic families seemed more inclined to talk about romance or which aristocratic children were up to what, leaving Vero entangled with this irritation until her fingers brushed the Spiritual Ring. In a trance, Komer’s polite yet firm demeanor reappeared in Vero’s heart, contrasting even more with Knight Sart’s behavior, which had truly turned Vero’s stomach. Thus, she chose to travel to Caucasus.

Rebry didn’t care that Vero discovered his choice; to him, Damarlinsk Castle was an endless treasure trove. After the first exploration revealed two magic prohibitions sealing passages, he and friends who gradually arrived thereafter threw themselves even more passionately into uncovering the castle’s secrets. Perseverance paid off; right next to the prohibition in the northeast corner, Rebry and his friends discovered another secret path, also sealed by a Magic Array. The scale of the Magic Array was astonishing; according to a friend’s deduction, this should be an extremely complex and bizarre Dark Magic Array—Bodor’s Gate, of the Dark Devouring type. If one were to barge into it without deciphering the array, anything, whether human or other creature, could be devoured and sent to a Different World in mere moments.

According to Rebry’s friend—a seasoned Dark Magic researcher and a Dark Magician—it’s customary for a Dark Relic to act as a catalyst for such a large Dark Magic Array; otherwise, it cannot be activated. Much like the Ancient Starry Sky Magic Array at Archangel Square, while impressive, it is clearly missing a Spiritual Object as a catalyst. An array of such scale is definitely beyond the power of any Mage to activate. Perhaps through the long passage of history, the catalyst has been lost to unknown places, leaving nothing but a legacy of historical ruins.

The arrival of Rebry’s friend, proficient in mechanics, finally sounded the clarion call for the full-scale exploitation of Damarlinsk Castle. However, the cautious Dark Sorcerer became significantly more prudent after witnessing several of the castle’s prohibition mechanisms. Apart from what appeared to be measuring and deducing, he offered no viable suggestions. Rebry and the others showcased an unusually great patience, possibly believing that any great difficulty could be overcome with the presence of their friend.

The elite group of a hundred from the Half-beastman Guards became the training targets for the two Dark Knights. Though the Half-beast Warriors were formidable, they still complained endlessly under the intense training regimen of the Dark Knights. However, the training soon bore fruit; by the end of a month of special training, these Half-beastman Guards surpassed the remaining guards in both overall discipline and individual combat capability. This led Komer to continue delegating subsequent tasks to the two almost exasperated Dark Knights. Fortunately, the time to officially break the prohibition had not been set, so the two Dark Knights reluctantly agreed to these errands.

When Komer received the Letter from Cyprus, he was enthusiastically watching the spar between the two Dark Knights. Usually, such scenes would never include Komer as an observer, but he insisted that to improve their fighting qi strength more effectively and quickly, it was absolutely necessary for him to observe the battles, a demand the Dark Knights had no choice but to accept.

To Komer, Solonberg’s power was already the pinnacle of Caucasus. Even though Ilot was provided with several Magic Scrolls by Komer and his defense capability was forcibly enhanced through Solidification Magic, these protections seemed fragile and ineffective against Solonberg. A few breakthroughs and piercing attacks resembling a Pegasus in flight or an antelope hanging by its horns obliterated Ilot’s defensive stance from the outset. With two continuous releases of Magic Scrolls serving merely as a fig leaf, the disparity in levels made the sparring an asymmetrical slaughter, were it a formal duel.

The might and arrogance Solonberg demonstrated in his duel with Ilot awed Komer, but upon witnessing the Dark Fighting Qi strength of the other Dark Knight, Vladimir Koff, he couldn’t help but worry about Solonberg’s fate. Although it was nothing more than a normal sparring match, to the contestants, it was hardly different from a duel, with the only exception being whether the final blow was lethal.
