Chapter 368: Volume 7: The Awakening Spring Thunder, Chapter 4: Follower of the Great Mysterium Sect

Green guessed correctly, that birds of a feather flock together. Although Komer didn’t subjectively intend to turn Ugru into a disorderly town, the reality was that with the large influx of migrants from three different lands and the dispersed migration of various races, walking through the streets of Ugru felt more like being in a town inhabited by creatures other than mortals. From Half-beastmen to Elves, from Barbarians to Dwarves, it seemed representatives of every race could be found on the streets of Ugru; even the elusive Shark people, who seldom showed themselves, could occasionally be seen. Though they moved mysteriously, the exotic treasures they brought from the sea caused quite a stir in Ugru. Since there were all sorts of people entering the town, there were also individuals of different standings who set foot on this land through various channels, and at this moment, Green, being a knight, was fully focused on monitoring two uninvited guests.

Over time, the situation in Ugru had evidently become more chaotic, at least in the eyes of Jep and Green, the two Thunderhorse knights. The public order on the surface still seemed very good, largely due to the Lord’s Guard’s daily patrol which had an excellent deterring effect. Whether it was new immigrants or indigenous people, all felt the differences in Ugru when they saw the imposing Half-beastman warriors armored and helmeted, wielding Great Swords and Long Spears, marching uniformly through the streets. However, ever since the arrival of the Lord’s two friends in the Castle, individuals with odd attire and a strong aura of magic power had been trickling into Caucasus. Within just a few days, Jep and Green had already encountered several Magic Practitioners who were at least at the level of Mages. Though these people tried their best to suppress the aura of magic power seeping out, they could not escape the discerning eyes of the two Thunderhorse knights.

Garbed in a pitch-black robe that enveloped his entire body, with only the upper half of his face exposed, a rope belt tied around his waist in an intricate knot, and with a long tassel ending in a purple-red round metal coin—it seemed unremarkable, although somewhat bizarre in appearance. Mages who practiced magic were inherently different from ordinary people, so their odd appearance was not surprising. However, the round metal coin was a significant marker, and without much scrutiny, Jep could determine that it belonged to a believer from the Great Mysterium Sect—an active religious sect in the southern parts of the Southern Continent in some exceptional mortal countries. Jep had previously encountered this sect in the Kingdom Territory of Rosenborg in the south; of course, that’s putting it mildly. In reality, Jep himself had killed three devout followers of the Great Mysterium Sect. According to the Church of Light’s speculation, the Great Mysterium Sect was believed to be remnants or derived from the Dark Holy Church; it’s just unclear why this sect started to emerge in the south of the Blue Continent hundreds of years after the Dark Holy Church had been destroyed. Although these practitioners of Dark Spells were not yet comparable to the Mages and Knights of the Church of Light, their demonstrated strength had already alarmed the Church of Light. Fortunately, this phenomenon was still rare in the northern part of the whole continent.

Although he had previously encountered followers of the Great Mysterium Sect, the two monks dressed as these guests brought with them an eerie feeling so profound that it felt chilling to Jep, a sensation particularly rare for someone who had cultivated the Sky Eye aspect of Light Divine Technique to a considerable degree. A malevolent aura as cold as death seemed to infiltrate deep into his heart, causing an indescribable discomfort in Jep. Almost instantly, Jep was certain that the two individuals before him were Magic Practitioners with a considerable level of proficiency, and they were undoubtedly practicing Dark Arts, which were part of the Dark-based Magic and opposed to his own Light Divine Technique.

The unabashed power on the two of them ignited Jep’s fury. Although the Knights of the Bright Holy Teaching did not mercilessly seek to destroy heretics that came into their sight like the Knights of the Religious Court, openly displaying their identity on the territory of the Nicosia Kingdom, which nominally still belonged to West Asia, was undeniably a challenge to the authority of the Church of Light, and that was unacceptable. Even though he could feel that the strength emanating from the individuals was not weak, Jep had no intention of letting them get away.

"Gentlemen, please halt! I am Knight Jep of the Thunderhorse Knight Group from the Church of Light. I have some questions for you!" With a light step, Jep, who had dispelled his invisibility spell, proudly appeared to the side of the two Dark Sorcerers.

The strong presence of Light from their opponent immediately put the two Dark magicians on alert. Such blatant obstruction and revelation of one’s identity meant only one thing to anyone, and even fools would know what that implied. They had thought that no one on this remote land of Caucasus would notice them, yet they had run into an adversary. Exchanging looks, the two Dark Sorcerers quickly stepped sideways into a defensive stance, their hands swiftly retracting into the sleeves of their long black robes.

"Heh, Thunderhorse Knight, what wisdom do you have to share?" The Dark Sorcerer on the left asked disdainfully, his piercing gaze sweeping over the Thunderhorse Knight like lightning from the heavens.

"I presume you two are practitioners of Dark Spells, right? Although I am not an officer of the Religious Court, flaunting yourselves so openly on the land of the Kingdom of Nicosia and so brazenly revealing your identities, could it be that you intend to challenge the authority of the Church of Light?" The Thunderhorse Knight did not wish to engage in excessive banter with his adversaries. He knew that it was futile to try to reason with such fanatical believers. To cast out demons with Holy fire, one must strip the opponent of any capital for resistance with thunderous methods, as it’s the only way to make them truly submit.
