Chapter 253: Chapter 11: Submitting (Part 2)_3

"Mr. Dragumo, I am very willing to help you and your brethren, but given the current situation, I feel it’s necessary to sober them up to the reality of our predicament. Furthermore, the assistance I can provide is quite limited and will not satisfy the needs of the entire Leon region, so while I can offer some help to a certain extent, I fear it would be merely a drop in the bucket for the entire region," Komer sighed endlessly, showing a deep compassion for others.

To tell the truth, Komer also hadn’t thought of a better way to deal with the situation in Leon. Although he coveted the mineral-rich region in his heart, considering the direct hostility he might face from Homer under these circumstances, Komer thought it would be better to observe for a while. The short-sighted Half-Beastmen were also unwilling to get involved, offering him the chance to lie low for the time being. Of course, it was essential to place his pieces on the board, and Mr. Dragumo was a fitting candidate. However, Komer was touched yet worried by Mr. Dragumo’s excessive concern for the fate of his brethren, fearing that it might lead him to refuse cooperation.

Fortunately, this Half-Beastman was not as rigid as Komer had imagined. Although he hoped Komer would consider the whole of Leon, after Komer made it clear that he could only provide limited support, Dragumo still preferred to ensure the security of his own armed forces first. He also agreed with Komer’s suggestion that a harsh awakening to reality for the brethren might be more conducive to future cooperation.

After accepting Komer’s advice, the covertly arrived Dragumo left just as quietly, and no one knew what exactly the Half-Beastman discussed with Komer during their private conversation, which lasted over an hour. However, at the subsequent Leon division of spoils meeting, Mr. Dragumo volunteered to station himself in the Mandu region, now scarcely worth looting. This move instantly won the approval of the other chiefs. The Mandu region had been the first to fall to the armed mobs, and almost everything valuable had already been plundered, leaving only some closed mines and the mansions of nobles in Mandu Town. Yet in Leon, these things were worthless. Nearly everyone was still intoxicated by the euphoria of having defeated the Leon nobles and winning a new life, and the newly empowered mob chiefs, eager to show their kindness to the freed slaves and win their hearts, were still continuously supplying food and various resources for free. The inherently unruly Half-Beastmen had not given any thought to what to do in the future, seemingly living by the creed of enjoying the present moment to the fullest.

Upon returning to Leon, Dragumo soon carried out significant downsizing of his armed forces, reducing the ten thousand armed slaves under his control down to three thousand people. In his own words to the outside world, the Leon revolution had been successful, and now was the time to enjoy the fruits of victory. Although, like other rulers in the region, he kept distributing various supplies to the populace, the frequency and amount were much smaller. He also encouraged the freed slaves to seek new lives in the Caucasus. Currently, the whole of the Leon region had come to a complete halt with no production, relying entirely on imports from Muscat, which required the exchange of various looted treasures. However, no one was concerned about these issues, which were for the rulers to consider. The Leon nobles had left behind a sizable fortune, enough to sustain for a while. Everyone was still enamored with the lifestyle of living off the land, and the anxious Dragumo did not know how long this could last. Yet, he was well aware that this day would inevitably come.
