Chapter 1040: Volume 33: Where to Go from Here, Chapter 28: Battle for the City (11)

"Oh, the Black Warrior King? There’s something interesting about that. I am indeed curious to see whether the skeleton swords in their hands are truly forged from the shinbones of our human warriors," Caesar narrowed his eyes as he spoke casually, yet both Noyola and Quintana could feel the thick intent to kill in his tone.

Komer let out a cold sneer, by this time it seemed too late for anyone who wanted to back out. Rather than skulking about, it was better to let loose and fight without reserve. In an unnoticeable manner, he released three acceleration spells in one breath, tripling the gathering speed of the Black Fog Field immediately, spreading like ink across the space, rolling and swirling, with occasional oddities vaguely visible within the fog, dazzling to the eye.

Instead of making a move right away, Caesar seemed rather interested in observing the bizarre Dark Power Field, the mysterious woman before him was clearly someone who had resurrected through possession. Caesar could even ascertain that this body before him was probably the missing Saintess Yelena from Pericles Church.

Despite Caesar’s sharp discernment, it was hard for him to see through whether this body still possessed its original essence of Light. The dense Dark Power had already settled in every tissue of this body. Caesar shook his head with some regret, even if he completely eliminated this remnant of dark undead, it would be difficult to bring back the Light Saintess of old.

Three tall Dark Flame Demons appeared in a flash, the eerie skulls on their heads had purplish-red fires flowing, the sound of their clashing bones was harsh to the ears. Two held tridents, and one wielded the Bone Spirit Flame Sword, its purple-black flames flickering uncertainly on the weapons, occasionally dripping a candle tear-like drop of bone oil on the ground, making a distinct sizzling sound.

Following the Dark Flame Demons were two Ghost Knights, their superb Ghost Warhorses allowing the Knights to roam easily through the air. Their ghostly rapid movement methods gave them even more fierce attack speed than the Necromancer Knights, and their spear shadows were like none at all but would exact a heavy toll on anyone who underestimated this seemingly phantom lance.

Caesar was slightly moved, an Undead Mage counted for little, but if that mage could easily summon so many undead, each terrifying enough to define necromancy, Caesar guessed that this ghostly woman might have stepped into the realm of a Holy Mage.

Last to appear was a triangular cone formation composed of twenty-one Skeleton Warriors, each group of seven forming one pyramid, with a Spear Warrior at each vertex, Swordsmen shielding on three sides, and an Undead Crossbowman coordinating in the center. These three pyramid formations formed a mutually supporting mobile attack formation.

No wonder Komer dared to boast, Caesar thought coldly, expecting this throng of undead warriors to block his Wind Riders? Pure fantasy!

"Lord Komer, is that all?" Caesar’s tone was already subtly murderous, "If you don’t have more to show, shall we begin?"

"Oh, Lord Caesar can’t wait to demonstrate the martial power of the Wind Riders?" Komer chuckled before responding solemnly, "Bring them on, Nicosia has been waiting for a long time!"

Caesar’s body shifted unexpectedly, and thirty-six Wind Riders in twelve attack formations swept through like a wild wind. Meanwhile, the twenty-one Skeleton Warriors began emitting a set of continuous crackling noises, the dual magic from Komer and Lome continually amplifying on this group of Skeleton Warriors about to face the Wind Riders’ onslaught.

Darkness mingled with light, solidification and protective magic of starkly different natures built up on the Skeleton Warriors. Perhaps it was the Light defense spells, difficult for their Dark Origin to adapt to, that forced the skeletons under Uma’s compelled spell to undergo this wave of Holy Light purification from their own allies. With this baptism, they would be much more composed facing the enemies’ strikes of Light Power.

The first wave of sharp attacks struck like thunder and wind upon the defensive line of twenty-one Skeleton Warriors, the bone arrows shot by the Skeleton Crossbowmen hardly affecting the Wind Riders, whose attacks surged like stormy sea winds. The intense pressure of Holy Light caused three Skeleton Warriors to shatter on the spot!

The shattering of three Skeleton Warriors only succeeded in slowing down the Wind Riders’ attack speed slightly, and although the Skeleton Warriors quickly filled the gaps in their triangle formations from within the Black Fog, both Uma and Komer realized that using these Skeleton Warriors to stop the Wind Riders was impractical.

Luckily, the entire undead war spirit had already been activated, the burning will to fight seeped into every undead body, driving them only to halt in death.

The Ghost Knights swept through the air, their nimble figures blended with dark ghostly air, conjuring multiple turbulent waves with their spear points, attacking from the flanks with strange agility, making it hard for both sharp formations to shake off their restriction.
