Chapter 1012: Volume 32 Dark Clouds Sweep Across Chapter 29 Discuss Later_2

Facing Komer’s earnest talk, Puber found himself at a loss for words for a moment. He had to admit that his own words just now were somewhat wishful thinking. The Boss saw things deeper and further, but he still needed to remind him not to cling too fondly to his old sentiments, as that could lead to trouble.

"Boss," Puber admitted, "I recognize that getting all the Homer People, Godeborgians, and Cartians to fully support you right now is unrealistic, but you should learn to gradually adapt. You’re the Lord of Nicosia, not the Caucasus Lord anymore. You need to complete the role transition, stop indulging in Ugru or Bruce, and spend more time in Godeburg or Cyprus, or perhaps visit Groningen and Cartin. Do you understand what I mean?"

"Thank you, Puber. I understand," Komer exhaled and nodded slowly. His words were sincere—no one else’s help could compare to Puber’s. Although it might not look like a glorious achievement, Komer was aware that the functioning and development of his territory until now could not have been maintained without Puber’s significant contributions. Despite this fellow having this or that small flaw, those were merely trivial compared to his loyalty and accomplishments; hardly worth mentioning.

"Well then, should we talk about your marriage to Furina? Hmm, and also about Renta and Vero. I think this issue can’t be delayed any longer. You understand—we don’t have a handle on Jazair in the short term; we have to face this reality." Puber clapped his hands, some envy in his tone: "Boss, you really are fortunate, sitting at home with people knocking on your door to offer women. I’m just a bit worried whether your body can handle it. I’ve heard there’s an herb called Horny Goat Weed in the Cordillera Wilderness, found atop the Baden Gold Mountain Range, that works wonders for those unwell. I suggest—"

"Enough, Puber. Don’t tell me you’ve already used that herb to bed ten women without tiring. Can we please talk about serious matters?" Komer was truly at a loss with this good friend of his. Whenever they talked business, he always had to crack jokes or throw in a silly story or two, which irritated Komer to no end, "Marriage, sigh, marriage. Has it really come to the point where we have to discuss this issue?"

"Heh, Boss, if you don’t want to lose Basarabia as an ally, if you hope to use the influence of the Romanov family and Anson family to your advantage, if you can ignore Zellin’s increasingly suspicious mindset toward you, if you can disregard these girls’ feelings. Oh, no, can Miss Renta still be called a girl? I highly doubt it. You should have been involved with her already, seeing as I found her handkerchief in your bedroom—"

Puber’s lecherous smile nearly drove Komer mad. A series of forceful rhetorical questions had Komer nodding repeatedly, but the conversation turning to this topic was enough to infuriate him.

Seeing the wild light flickering in Komer’s eyes, Puber quickly changed the subject, "If you still consider further strengthening and developing Nicosia to repossess Jazair in the shortest time, then you have no choice but to face this issue."

"What thoughts do you have?" Komer pressed down his anger and asked bitterly.

"What thoughts do I have? Boss, you’re the one sleeping with women; you’re asking me what I think?" Puber, his conversation halted, felt somewhat disgruntled as he retorted grudgingly.

"I’m asking how I should handle these women more appropriately, and what potential side effects there may be."

"Boss, are you sure you want to take them all into, uh, no, into your chambers?" Puber licked his lips.

"Is not taking them an option?" Komer flared up, frustrated by this fellow who was just preaching moments ago yet now came to him with questions.

"That will need some serious consideration." Puber smacked his lips, "Flandre and Xifnos Island, you’ve already promised to Miss Eve and that mixed Half-Elf. Nicosia is a whole, and it cannot be divided or there’ll be lots of trouble in the future. All three girls have their eyes on this position. It’s tricky."

"What about the Cordillera Wilderness?" Komer also felt a headache coming on, these three girls were not easy to fool, not like Tracy who could be sent away with any random castle.

"Heh, Boss, you really know how to joke. Do you think Furina or Vero would accept the title of Wilderness Queen?" Puber couldn’t help but laugh, "Or maybe send Renta to sit among the Golden Tent of the Barbarian Alliance and become the queen, hahaha!"

Angered and humiliated, Komer glared fiercely at Puber until Puber sheepishly stopped laughing, "Boss, I just thought it was too funny."

"Funny, huh? Then come up with a solution for me!" Komer seethed through gritted teeth.

"Um, this problem might need a more long-term plan."

"Long-term plan? Who was the one just now babbling nonstop, saying that this problem was so urgent it couldn’t wait to be solved?" Komer retorted, "Puber, if you come up with a method, hmph, I’ll make sure you have your fill of Horny Goat Weed before throwing you onto the Cordillera Wilderness! I mean what I say!"

Puber was at a loss for words, stammering, "Let me think about it, Boss. After all is said and done, our lands are just too few. The Cordillera Wilderness can’t really count as true territory for us mortals; not even mortal settlers live there, otherwise, we might be able to get by with some deception."

"Get lost! Deceive who? Who could you possibly deceive? Furina or Vero?" Komer said without mincing his words.

"Boss, how about considering something from Hayreddin’s side?" Puber suggested after pondering for a moment.

"Are you talking about those bases on Mang Continent?" Komer shook his head repeatedly, "It’s not much better than the Cordillera Wilderness. Although Hayreddin and his people have established a few outposts, they need a good location, suitable resources, and they mustn’t be too close to territories that are already developed, so their progress has been limited. The permanent population is even sparser, consisting mostly of adventurers and pioneers or fugitives evading punishment. Who could you convince to accept that?"

"Hehe, Boss, after all, Mang Continent is too far away from us. Besides Hayreddin and his crew, how many people really know what’s happening there? Aren’t we ourselves only hearing one side of the story from Hayreddin? Moreover, I firmly believe that in a few years it will develop. As long as we control Xifnos Island and Hayreddin’s armed fleet continues to expand, we don’t have to worry about anything. Convincing those Basarabian lads of the beauty over there isn’t difficult, just a couple of maps and a few painters to create some beautiful paintings of your new territories on Mang Continent. I think that will capture the little Skylark’s heart."

Komer had to admit that his old friend’s cunning plan was brilliant. Basarabia was a landlocked country, their understanding of Mang Continent was quite nebulous. What they needed was just a semblance of legitimacy. Furina wouldn’t go to so-called territories on Mang Continent either, which gave everyone some breathing space. More importantly, Basarabia needed his alliance. Providing them with a decent way out was sufficient.

"Hmm, worth a try. So what about the other one?" Komer mused for a while before nodding in agreement.

"We’ll discuss that later, discuss that later," Puber sighed, lamenting that he had made a rod for his own back. (To be continued. To find out what happens next, please visit www.qidian.com. There are more Chapters available. Support the author, support authorized reading!)
