The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 752. Letter To Malcolm

Chapter 752: 752. Letter To Malcolm

Mauve sat in bed with a grumpy look on her face. Now that she was confined to her room, outside was suddenly so much more interesting. However, she knew better than to venture outside her room, no need to anger Jael further.

A light knock drew her attention to the door, which opened to reveal Mill standing at the entrance. Mauve smiled at her. She had already seen Mill earlier, and they had already exchanged pleasantries.

"My lady," Mill said as she walked into the room. "Is everything alright?"

"Yes," Mauve said, tapping on her bed for Mill to join her.

The vampire looked skeptical but shrugged and walked to the bed. She sat down and said, "A servant said the Primus asked me to join you in your room." There was still a worried look on her face.

"Jael just wants you to keep an eye on me so I don’t leave the room. Don’t worry so much, I am not sick or anything like that," Mauve replied.

Mill instantly looked relieved. "I was worried that there were still some side effects from last night, or perhaps something I missed?"

Mauve shook her head. "There’s nothing you missed. I feel just fine," she grinned.

"That’s good to hear. And the baby?" Mill asked, her gaze lowering to Mauve’s stomach.

"Well, they have already kicked me twice today, so I will say they are equally fine," Mauve laughed.

"Doesn’t that hurt?" Mill looked with horror and genuine concern.

Mauve couldn’t help but smile at her shock. "Sometimes," she carefully explained, "but it’s more shocking than painful, and the pain fades almost immediately."

Mill didn’t look convinced, but she didn’t press the subject. "Is there anything in particular you’d like to do? I see you’re almost done." She picked up one of the clothes Mauve had knitted and stared at it.

"Yes," Mauve replied proudly. "It took a while, but I was able to figure it out." She immediately dug into explaining.

Mill listened attentively, nodding her head occasionally as Mauve showed more of the clothes and spoke about them. When she was done, Mill helped her place them in the wardrobe.

"Oh, yes, that reminds me," Mauve suddenly said. "I want to write a letter to my brother. Do you think you could get me some paper?"

"Of course," Mill said, shutting the wardrobe door before leaving the room.

The very first letter she had written, she had help from Erick, but she had written the last letter herself, so she was certain she wouldn’t need any help. Besides, she doubted she wanted anyone to see the contents of it. Mill returned not long after with everything she needed, and Mauve sat by her dresser as she prepared to write.

"Who are you writing a letter to?" Mill asked. She stood close but made sure to give Mauve enough space for privacy.

"My brother," she announced. "I want to tell him about the baby." She smiled at Mill before returning her attention to the paper.

"That’s wonderful," Mill responded.

"Yeah," Mauve replied absentmindedly, her concentration already on what she was going to write.

Dear Malcolm Grey,

I hope this letter finds you well. I have been good, and I hope you are too. I did fall ill at some point, but nothing too serious, and I’m fine now.

I write this letter to inform you that I am pregnant, and I am over four months gone. I should have told you beforehand, but everyone thinks it’s a strange pregnancy, and I didn’t want word to get out too fast.

Aside from the pregnancy, there is also something I’d like to discuss with you, but unfortunately, this matter can only be spoken of in person. If you can make the journey to The Vampire’s Region, I’d appreciate it. I understand if this won’t be possible, but I really hope it will be, however long it takes.

I have also spoken to Jael, and he assured me that you’ll get here safely. Thank you for everything.

Your Sister,

Mauve.

Mauve folded the letter, sealed it, and pulled out the drawer of her dresser. Finding a remotely empty one, she carefully placed the letter inside and shut the drawer. She would give it to Jael when he returned, and he would help her send it off.

Mauve wasn’t sure Malcolm would agree to her request. She wasn’t even sure why she was asking him. If she weren’t pregnant, she might have made the journey to Greenham herself, but that was completely out of the question. Not only because of the pregnancy, but Jael wouldn’t let her step foot out of the castle, let alone the Vampire’s Region.

Malcolm’s presence was very crucial to her plan. She had to speak to him eventually. The current step right now was to speak to Louis to find a way to convince Jael faster while also telling Louis of the plan that involved her brother, as Louis was also a huge part of it. She was very certain Louis would agree to it.

"Are you done?" Mill asked, interrupting Mauve’s thoughts.

"Ah, yes," she said, slowly standing from the chair to her bed. "My brother is really the only one in my family I want to tell."

"I see," Mill replied.

Mauve nodded and laughed. "The letter was shorter than I thought. I thought I’d have a lot more to tell him, but I guess it was just really formal."

"I’m sure he would appreciate hearing the news," Mill said, walking closer.

"I suppose you’re right," Mauve replied. She wasn’t very particular about his response to her pregnancy. She knew Malcolm would be happy for her, regardless. It was the latter part of her letter she was concerned about.

Unfortunately, all she could do now was send it and wait. She would get a reply and could move from there. For now, she had to find a way to speak to Louis privately. Mauve touched the sides of her head. With Jael breathing down her neck—with good reason—she knew that would be hard to accomplish.
