Chapter 600. Sunlight
Chapter 600: 600. Sunlight
Mauve watched Jean twist his fingers together as he explained and she adjusted, sitting upright.
"...we would have to try something different," he was saying.
She nodded, agreeing with his words."Whatever it is, I am willing to try it out," Mauve said.
"As long as there is no risk," Jael added without missing a beat.
She glanced at him and she could clearly see his stern expression. She didn’t need anyone to tell her, he wasn’t going to let her try anything he didn’t trust.
"There shouldn’t be," Jean whispered. "It’s not anything strange."
"Not the ointment?" Jael asked.
"Jael," Mauve called. She couldn’t believe he brought it up. She could clearly recall how badly Jean felt when she had a terrible reaction to the ointment.
Jean’s expression fell immediately. "No and I am really sorry about that," he apologized again.
"Don’t worry about it," she replied. "I felt better the moment I washed it all off. You don’t have to apologize again. I am more interested in what you want me to try."
Mauve said, trying to cheer Jean. She could tell Jael’s words had gotten to him not to mention the fact that almost all his efforts hadn’t worked in the way he wanted.
"Thank you," he replied, forcing out a smile. "I was thinking you could try going out in the sun more. I don’t know how that would help but I suppose there is no harm in trying."
Mauve frowned as she tried to process Jean’s words. She couldn’t comprehend how that would work but it was something she needed to consider as she hadn’t been spending much time in the sun since she fell ill and even before that.
"And you’re sure this would work?" Jael asked even before Mauve could respond.
"No, I am not," Jean replied and bowed his head. "I just thought it was something she could try and there is no harm in it."
"What if it turns out to be the opposite?" Jael asked.
"Jael," Mauve scolded, turning to Jean she said, "I will try that. Thank you. Even if it doesn’t help, I need more sunlight."
Jean forced out another smile, "I will suggest the morning sun."
"Just before I go to bed huh?" Mauve nodded, adding, "Okay. I will try that, hopefully, it makes some difference and even if it doesn’t, I’ll get a tan," she chuckled.
She glanced at Jael and he didn’t look very intrigued by the idea. However, the fact that he wasn’t saying anything against it was a good sign.
"As soon as you feel off, please go inside immediately. There is also a chance that your skin might be sensitive to sunlight. Also, don’t stay longer than you need to, a couple of minutes should be more than enough," Jean said.
"Alright, I will keep that in mind."
"Start slow, you can increase the time as it goes," Jean added
Mauve nodded to show her understanding. To be honest, she didn’t think it would make any difference but it would give her something to do. Also, there was no harm in trying this out.
"Only a few minutes, right?" Jael asked.
"Yeah," Jean replied, nodding as he glanced at Jael but quickly looked away.
"Okay," Jael responded.
Mauve could tell Jael was looking at her, she didn’t turn to look at his face, she could already guess what he was thinking. He would definitely make sure she didn’t stay longer than Jean had started.
Jean bowed, "I shall take my leave."
Mauve nodded, "I wish you a good sleep."
"You too, Princess," he said before making his way to the door.
Mauve kept her eyes on Jean until the door closed behind him. She leaned back on Jael, dropping all her weight on him.
"You didn’t have to be so strict with Jean," she scolded. "You know he is doing his best."
"Yeah, but I don’t want him experimenting."
"It was just one mistake with the ointment. Besides, I think my skin just wasn’t compatible with the ingredients, and not that Jean didn’t make it well. There is no reason to bark at him like that. You know he feels bad already."
"I didn’t bark at him. I simply asked questions to know if he was sure."
"He already said he wasn’t and it’s just the sun. What’s the harm in that?"
"Nothing," he replied, his voice gruff. "As there is also no harm in being cautious. I’d really not take any risk when you’re this much better."
Mauve sighed, "I suppose you’re right but I am tired of the patches, I would really like a way to get rid of them. It doesn’t have to be very fast but better than it is currently."
"I understand and won’t stop you but it doesn’t mean if I don’t like the sound of it I won’t complain."
"Just complain in a soft tone. Jean was very worried you were angry."
"Okay," he responded. "Enough about the physician. I can’t believe you’re reprimanding me for him."
He spun her so she sat across his legs with her face directly in front of his. Mauve giggled as their eyes met and she hid her face in his neck.
"What are you trying to do?" She asked, still hiding her face.
"What do you think?" He asked. She could clearly hear the smirk in his words.
"I don’t know," she pouted.
"Are you sure you don’t?"
"Nope," she responded stubbornly even though her giggle betrayed her.
"Well then, I guess we should go to sleep."
Jael started to slide down still holding onto her. He moved until his back was no longer on the headrest and his head was comfortably on the pillow.
Mauve straightened her legs and her entire frame lay on his body while her face was still by the side of his neck.
She wanted to complain but didn’t because she would be falling right into his trap.
"Yeah, goodnight," she whispered.
He wrapped an arm around her and gently squeezed her to himself. "Sleep tight."
"You too," she mumbled, adjusting until she was comfortable. She closed her eyes, hoping she would fall asleep pretty quickly. She didn’t.
"If you keep tossing, none of us will fall asleep," Jael suddenly said.
"You’re still awake?" She asked in horror.
