Chapter 677: Chapter 677: Deprivation of Ability

Han An’s eyes widened in alarm, and she was visibly shaken. She didn’t know what Zhong Niangyao meant, but a sheer panic rose from the depths of her heart. It was as if something pivotal to her entire life was about to unfold.

Zhong Niangyao’s lips curved into a splendid smile before she casually extended her finger and lightly tapped in Han An’s direction. The act seemed so absent-minded, as if it was just a trivial matter.

Before Han An could even understand what had happened, she felt a slight sting spread through her body. The pain was light, yet she felt as if something was being stripped away from her.

Quickly, a small light emerged from her brow and soared out.

Zhong Niangyao twisted her wrist, and that small light flew straight into her hand.

Watching the small light hovering above Zhong Niangyao’s palm, an endless fear spread deep in Han An’s heart, leaving her feeling utterly empty inside. She cried out with a trembling voice, "Mine, that’s mine."

She didn’t know what the light was, but she had a strong feeling that it belonged to her and it was something very important. She felt that if she lost it, her whole life would change drastically.

"Yes, indeed, it’s yours."

Zhong Niangyao’s lips twisted into a mocking smile as she observed Han An’s terrified expression, "But now, it no longer belongs to you."

"Han An, you indeed have a gift for divination. However, if it wasn’t for me, you would’ve been sold to a brothel by your parents long ago, now nothing but a prostitute with arms that have embraced a thousand and kissed by many. I ask for little, just to take back what I gave you. All the divination skills you learned from me, I am now reclaiming."

Upon finishing, Zhong Niangyao made a fist.

As her gesture fell, the small light seemed to shatter suddenly, dispersing entirely, and then vanished from the world.

"No—"

Han An’s wail was heartrending as she hurried forward, attempting to reclaim the light; but in the end, she could achieve nothing. She could only watch the light dissipate along with her ability in divination.

Finally, she could no longer bear it and collapsed to the ground with weak knees, her face devoid of color, her lips deathly pale, her expression utterly defeated. She sat there, the very picture of a person who had suffered a severe blow.

Zhong Niangyao, looking at Han An crumpled on the ground, showed no excess emotion on her face. She turned to Lu Yichen, who had been watching the scene with detachment, and said, "Yichen, our tea-making has been interrupted, and I’m no longer in the mood to continue. Let’s go inside."

Lu Yichen nodded, stood up, and went to Zhong Niangyao’s side, ready to leave with her.

Seeing that Zhong Niangyao was about to leave, Han An grew desperate. Ignoring her disheveled appearance, she quickly got up and rushed in front of Zhong Niangyao, blocking her path.

"That’s mine, my skill, how can you take it away?"

"Simply because I gave it to you." Zhong Niangyao smiled coolly, her voice indifferent, "Since it was I who gave it to you, it’s only right that I take it back now."

"No, it’s mine." Han An’s eyes were fiery red, her gaze towards Zhong Niangyao filled unconsciously with resentment, "Do you know what you’re taking from me?"

She hadn’t tried it out yet but knew her divination skills were truly gone. She was well aware that Zhong Niangyao was not one to jest about such matters.

Unable to accept the loss of her most important skill, she was overwhelmed.

"I know!" Zhong Niangyao nodded, spreading her hands with a tinge of nonchalance in her voice, "Without me, you would never have known these things. Since I taught you, it’s natural for me to take them back."

"I learned it through my own hard work." Han An spoke with bitterness, "Why should you take away the efforts of many years? It’s not fair; you have no right to strip away my skill."

"I do." Zhong Niangyao was not the least bit angry, remaining composed, "Han An, do not forget, a gift I gave you is mine to take back."

"Now you are Princess Consort Yu, aren’t you? Just enjoy that pampered life of yours, is that not enough? Even without the divination skills, you can still live with Prince Yu forever, right? Or is it—"

Zhong Niangyao spoke with a mocking tone, as if she found humor in the situation, "Without these skills, can you no longer secure your position as Princess Consort Yu? Or perhaps, without divination, you will lose Prince Yu’s love?"

Nolan Chenyu had gone to great lengths to marry Han An, simply because of her status as the State Preceptor’s disciple.

She had disappeared for a whole decade, but although Han An’s situation wasn’t the best, she still securely held the position of Princess Consort Yu. This implied that she still held value to Nolan Chenyu.

At that time, nobody knew she was still alive. Han An, an orphan, had value only because of the divination skills she had learned from her.

"Prince Yu wouldn’t do that, he’s not like that. He loves me, not my divination skills. Lord National Master, even if you don’t like me, you shouldn’t slander Prince Yu like this!"

Han An’s voice was resolute, but a hint of doubt flickered in her eyes, uncertain if she was trying to convince Zhong Niangyao or herself.

"Oh, is that so?" Zhong Niangyao smirked coldly, "If that’s the case, then what I’m doing now shouldn’t cause you any loss. Why the fuss?"

"I..."

For a moment, Han An was at a loss for words.

"What you should be doing now isn’t throwing a tantrum here." Zhong Niangyao’s gaze was still icy, "You better think of a plan. If Nolan Chenyu doesn’t love you as much as you think, with what will you then secure your days as Princess Consort Yu?"

After hearing Zhong Niangyao’s words, a wave of fear passed through Han An’s eyes, and she turned and left briskly. In her rush, she stumbled and fell.
