Chapter 670: Chapter 670: Had a Stroke

Zhong Niangyao hadn’t expected that the Empress Dowager’s crisis would actually be related to Nangong Xin, or that it would happen so quickly.

"Lord National Master, please help check on my mother!" Nolan Deye looked inside worriedly, "Her situation this time is really dangerous."

Zhong Niangyao nodded, then headed inside.

Lu Yichen, however, stopped in his tracks and did not follow.

Nolan Deye glanced at Lu Yichen, who stood not far away, with a puzzled look.

From the very beginning until now, he had seen this man always by the State Preceptor’s side at all times. Their relationship was clear to anyone with eyes. But this man barely glanced at anyone else, as if no one else was worthy of his attention.

Yet, what surprised him most was the dignity that emanated from this man, commanding an aura that kept others at bay, yet without arousing any anger.

Even the occasional oppressive aura from this man gave him an uneasy sense of fear.

Lu Yichen also noticed Nolan Deye’s subtle scrutinizing gaze, but he didn’t mind and didn’t even spare him a glance.

On the other side, Zhong Niangyao had entered the inner chamber.

Upon entering, she saw the Empress Dowager lying on the bed, already unconscious, and the Imperial Physician by her side, his forehead beaded with sweat and his face grim. Just one glance revealed the dire state of the Empress Dowager.

Seeing Zhong Niangyao come in, a flicker of relief crossed the Imperial Physician’s face.

He knew the person before him was once under only one and above thousands in Lai Country, knowledgeable in unusual skills and highly skilled in medicine—the esteemed Lord National Master.

Seeing the State Preceptor, he felt as if he had seen a savior.

He was the head of the Imperial Hospital and the best medical practitioner there. But now, the Empress Dowager’s condition was not good. His biggest worry now was that if something happened to the Empress Dowager, he would be held accountable.

Now that he saw the State Preceptor entering, he truly breathed a sigh of relief. Even if something unexpected happened to the Empress Dowager, with the State Preceptor present, he felt safe.

Realizing all this, the Imperial Physician immediately stood up and bowed respectfully to Zhong Niangyao, "Lord National Master, you’ve arrived."

Having said that, he immediately stepped aside, making way for Zhong Niangyao.

Seeing the Imperial Physician’s eagerness to pass off the trouble, Zhong Niangyao raised an eyebrow, but wasn’t surprised. She sat down, and while appearing to take the pulse, she used her Spiritual Power to check the Empress Dowager’s condition.

Soon, she released her hand, turned her head, and looked at the Imperial Physician. "Let’s go out and report to the Emperor now!"

Zhong Niangyao’s words startled the Imperial Physician, "Lord National Master, the Empress Dowager—"

He really couldn’t understand Zhong Niangyao’s approach. After coming in, she just took the Empress Dowager’s pulse and then immediately wanted to report to the Emperor.

However, before he could think further, he saw Zhong Niangyao already walking out.

Seeing this, he naturally didn’t dare to delay and hurriedly followed her out. Otherwise, if something happened to the Empress Dowager later, he would really be in trouble.

Nolan Deye had been anxiously waiting. When he saw Zhong Niangyao come out, his eyes brightened, and he quickly approached, "State Preceptor, how is my mother?"

Zhong Niangyao didn’t respond, but instead looked towards the Imperial Physician, signaling him to speak.

Suddenly, the Imperial Physician was stunned. He had assumed that since the State Preceptor had gone in with him, she would report the condition of the Empress Dowager. Why was this task falling back on him now?

Given the Empress Dowager’s dire condition, could he honestly tell it like it is, would he dare to?

Now, faced with the Emperor’s anxious gaze, his fear deepened even more, unsure how to express himself.

Seeing the fear in the Imperial Physician, Zhong Niangyao spoke lightly, "Don’t be afraid, just honestly report what has happened. The Emperor won’t blame you."

Zhong Niangyao’s words plunged Nolan Deye’s heart into a sudden sink, then he turned to the evasive eyes of the Imperial Physician, speaking directly, "What exactly is going on with the Empress Dowager now? Speak truthfully, otherwise—"

He didn’t finish his sentence, but the Imperial Physician clearly understood his meaning. Fearful, he suddenly knelt down, speaking anxiously, "Emperor, this servant’s medical skills are insufficient, I cannot save the Empress Dowager."

"The Empress Dowager is already of advanced age and her physical condition has not been so good. Today, she seems to have received a great shock, which made her emotions very agitated. She was struck suddenly by intense anger and passed out. However, the shock she received today was too severe for her..."

"So now, the condition of the Empress Dowager is not good, and it appears she has had a stroke. Even if she wakes up, she will likely experience weakness in her lower limbs. From now on, she will probably need to lie in bed and rest."

Hearing the Imperial Physician’s reply, Nolan Deye frowned, "Is there really no other way?"

Facing Nolan Deye’s sharp gaze, the Imperial Physician felt an immense pressure, his back sweating. He involuntarily cast a pleading glance at Zhong Niangyao, hoping she would intervene.

Nolan Deye also noticed the Imperial Physician’s look and shifted his gaze to Zhong Niangyao, "State Preceptor, what do you think—"

"Just as the Imperial Physician said, the final condition of the Empress Dowager, she will need to be bedridden from now on," Zhong Niangyao shook her head and spoke softly, "There is no other way."

Instantly, disappointment was unmistakable on Nolan Deye’s face, but he still pressed on, "State Preceptor, my mother—"

Before he could continue, Zhong Niangyao raised her hand to stop him, "No need to say more, Emperor, let me be frank with you! The crisis of the Empress Dowager is fated, and no one can change it."

After receiving Zhong Niangyao’s response, Nolan Deye seemed like a deflated balloon, utterly disappointed.

However, anger then appeared on his face. He commanded, "Summon the guards, give Nangong Xin a severe beating with fifty heavy planks. As for the rest, we will wait until the Empress Dowager awakens before making a decision."

Hearing Nolan Deye’s words, Zhong Niangyao almost laughed out loud. However, she also grew curious about what reactions there might be once the Empress Dowager awoke.
