The Useless Heiress Is Actually A Bigshot -
Chapter 632 Residual Soul
Chapter 632: Chapter 632 Residual Soul
Watching Zhong Niangyao jump off the cliff without hesitation, Lu Yichen followed immediately, jumping after her.
Moments later, the cliff remained a desolate expanse of ice and snow, scarcely marked by human presence. The falling snow covered all traces on the ground, as if no one had ever been there.
As she plummeted weightlessly downward, Zhong Niangyao truly regretted her impulsive choice. She had never intended to jump, but upon seeing the bottom of the cliff, her mind went blank, leaving only one thought—to jump from here.
Once she jumped, she believed all her questions would be answered.
It was only after jumping that she snapped back to reality and could hear a panicked scream from behind her.
"Yaoyao."
Zhong Niangyao knew that was Lu Yichen calling her name, but at that moment she was unable to respond.
Then, Zhong Niangyao saw a flash of white light before her eyes, and she lost all consciousness.
When she regained consciousness, Zhong Niangyao found herself in a place with mountains and water. Although surrounded by dense white fog, the serene environment remained unaffected.
Standing up and looking around, Zhong Niangyao felt an odd sense of familiarity.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that she had been to this place before, yet also hadn’t.
Her thoughts hazy, she slapped her head forcefully, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself down.
Rising to her feet, she began wandering around.
The more she explored, the greater her shock, for everything around her—every plant and tree—felt familiar. It was as if she had lived here for a long time, yet she was certain she had never been to this place before.
"You’re here!"
A faint voice called out again.
"Who’s there?" Zhong Niangyao became instantly vigilant, scanning her surroundings, "Stop playing tricks and come out."
"Sigh—"
A soft sigh sounded, and shortly thereafter, a figure emerged from the mist.
Obscured by the dense fog, Zhong Niangyao couldn’t make out the person’s features. As the fog cleared, revealing the individual’s true face, she was struck dumb.
Seeing the person walking slowly towards her, Zhong Niangyao’s eyes widened, her breathing hitched, and a deep wariness settled in her gaze, readying herself for a potential confrontation.
Despite sensing no malice from the stranger, and even feeling a subtle connection, Zhong Niangyao couldn’t lower her guard. The reason was simple: the person opposite her was her exact double, down to the fiery red Spider Lily mark between her eyebrows and the same golden pupils. If stood side by side, an outsider wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.
Gazing at the person before her, Zhong Niangyao could sense their fragility. However, this did not diminish her cautious stance.
"Who are you?"
"There’s no need to be so wary."
Seemingly perceptive of Zhong Niangyao’s hostility, the woman smiled faintly, a tragic beauty to her expression, "I couldn’t possibly harm you."
"You still haven’t said, who are you?" Zhong Niangyao frowned, "Why do you—"
"Why do I look exactly like you?" The woman smiled, shaking her head, "Have you ever considered that it’s not me who looks like you, but you who looks like me?"
Zhong Niangyao’s breath hitched, "What do you mean?"
"Aren’t you asking who I am?" The woman smiled slightly and spoke, "I am you, and you are me."
"What does that mean?"
Zhong Niangyao was thoroughly puzzled by the woman’s statement.
"Don’t you feel it?" The woman continued, "I am just a residual soul, to be precise, a fragment of your own soul. Without me, your soul is incomplete."
Hearing the woman’s words, Zhong Niangyao’s pupils narrowed, disbelief evident in her eyes, "How is that possible?"
She had learned from Baili Hengyuan that she had lost a soul fragment at birth. It was only then that she realized she was the true Zhong Niangyao.
But now, a woman claiming to be her residual soul, identical to her in appearance, had suddenly appeared.
It wasn’t that she didn’t believe it; the revelation was just too fantastical to accept.
"I have no reason to lie to you." The woman smiled, shaking her head, "Actually, to put it more accurately, you are a reincarnation of me, and this fragment of my soul did not reincarnate with you."
Zhong Niangyao didn’t know whether to believe the woman, "You’re the one who led me here."
"Even if you hadn’t come this time, one day you would have found this place." The woman’s smile lingered, "Without my return, your soul remains incomplete."
"So, having come to this world, even though this body is originally mine, I still feel an instability in my soul."
Zhong Niangyao remembered the peculiarity she felt upon arriving in this world, "It’s because my soul isn’t whole, which is why it felt unstable upon returning."
"But why are you here?"
She was also curious as to why a fragment of her soul would be in this place.
Truth be told, today’s events felt incredibly surreal. Yet deep down, she couldn’t help believing the woman’s words.
"Sigh!" The woman sighed once more, her eyes filled with sorrow, "You’ll understand, all will be revealed to you."
"Do you love him?"
The abrupt change of topic caught Zhong Niangyao off guard, and she was momentarily at a loss for words, "What did you say?"
"Lu Yichen."
The woman gazed at Zhong Niangyao, emotions stirring beneath her eyes that others couldn’t fathom, "Do you love him?"
Although unsure of the woman’s intentions, Zhong Niangyao nodded honestly, "Of course I love him. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have chosen to be with him."
Despite knowing that the woman was a fragment of her own soul, Zhong Niangyao couldn’t see her as a mere extension of herself, but rather as an independent entity.
