Chapter 344: Welcome Party
Chapter 344: Welcome Party
After what felt like a particularly longer flight than usual, Raine along with two of her most beloved men had finally arrived back at Country V. Stepping out of their jet, she smiled as the familiar weather almost made her feel nostalgic.
"Ahh... Back here again," she beamed up at the sky. "And without any other problems to worry about too."
"All except Aire, my sweet vixen," Nathan chuckled beside her. "Having a kid can be a problem in and of itself after all."
Raine narrowed her eyes at him. "Are you telling me that I might consider Aire to be a problem?"
"All I’m saying is that you were the one that said that I should be ready for you to hate me once you start getting contractions," Nathan innocently backed off, a teasing smile on his face as he raised his hands up. "I’ll be with you every step of the way, but I’ll defend myself if needed if you ever decide to try and shoot me for knocking you up."
"You tease. I’ll never do that... Maybe..." she vaguely shot back with a smirk. "Anyway, let’s go home. I wanna relax after sitting down for almost an entire day straight."
With their bags being carried out by the airport staff, Raine let Nathan lead her and her father out onto a family car, one that she recognized to be from the Moon Clan as they then drove all the way back to their territory.
"I guess you really had everything planned out, huh," Raine commented.
"I just told some of the men to expect our arrival," Nathan casually replied. "If there’s anybody that might have something planned out, it might be our friends possibly planning for a return party once we get there."
"Knowing them, they just might do that," Raine smiled. "I wonder how they’re doing now?"
Absently, her thoughts immediately went to Lyne and Boris. With Mia and Levi practically only a question away from tying the knot, her second best friend was the only one in her inner circle who was still struggling with her emotions. Hopefully, her ploy to get her to stay for a while with Boris allowed them to further develop their relationship. And if not, then maybe she’ll play a bit more matchmaker before deciding to call it quits. Lyne’s happiness was still paramount after all, and if her friend just wouldn’t click with the man, then who was she to try and force them together?
"They’re probably bored to death by now," Nathan joked out. "Well, at least on your end. I know that Boris and the others might be a bit busy getting their affairs into working order."
"Oh yeah, Aspen’s the king in Convel Society now," Raine curiously recalled. "Any news on them?"
"Last I heard, Aspen’s having a swell time trying to get the Elders under control," Nathan scoffed in amusement. "I did kind of leave a small mess for him when I quit, so I’ll take responsibility for that one."
"Oh? So you’re playing adviser now?"
"In a sense," Nathan shrugged. "Decan’s the official adviser, but I’m still giving him a hand or two depending on the need."
"Respectable," Raine nodded in approval. "I wouldn’t have liked it if you left a big mess for your successor."
"Hey, I thought you wanted me gone from the Society as soon as possible?" Nathan jokingly protested.
"That doesn’t mean you should just up and quit even if I wanted to," Raine scoffed. "Anyway, we’re almost here."
The conversation died down as the car rolled to a stop in front of the Moon Clan Territory. Shortly after, they had their luggage carried out by their men as they themselves went up to their usual haunt which was the lounge area. Nathan walked by her side, while her father kept a close but respectable distance right behind her as her senses tingled.
"Something’s wrong," she whispered to Nathan. "I sense a-"
"Surprise!"
Before Raine could voice out her suspicions, a stream of confetti suddenly blanketed her face as the lights went on. In front of them, all of her Moonlight Squad, as well as Nathan’s inner circle, were all beaming and shouting at them in congratulations on their arrival.
"-surprise..." Raine finished her sentence, a smile on her face as she turned to her friends. "Really? It’s not even anybody’s birthday. Why make it a surprise?"
"It was what we’re told to do," Davin shrugged as he stood beside Decan and Aspen, his own confetti cannon still smoking.
"And who told you then?" she asked.
"That would be us."
Raising an eyebrow, Raine turned to look at the ringleaders of this welcome party. Sure enough, her heart melted as she saw Mia and Levi standing rather closely together than normal, along with Lyne and Boris, who were inversely standing at a bit more distance away from each other than usual.
"I know you have a few questions, Boss, but I know you’re all hungry!" Mia cheered out, a slew of agreements coming out from the small gathering. "Boris and Levi here had taken the liberty to cook us all a feast, and we also have some bits of entertainment planned in case any of us want to take the party to the next level."
"And this next level being more alcohol?" Nathan chimed in.
"Yep!" Mia proudly declared.
"Now that’s what I’m talking about," Davin smirked.
"Oh boy..." Decan sighed. "I hope we all remember that we still have busy schedules tomorrow."
Raine couldn’t help but laugh as the warmth in her chest grew the more she looked on at the joy and happiness being shared across the room. Beside her, Nathan had placed an arm over her shoulder, pulling her in close even as she turned to give her father a nod giving him permission to do what he wanted.
"I guess we have a lot of partying to do," Nathan chuckled. "Remember that you’re not allowed alcohol, alright?"
"You don’t have to tell me that twice," Raine scoffed. "Just don’t get drunk again. Or maybe just go ahead. I’d like to see you do that stunt of yours again."
Nathan blushed in embarrassment, and she giggled at the festivities she was being surrounded with. There was always fun to be had for them now, especially whenever she was with friends and family.
