Chapter 229: Marcus’ dog
At Moon Clan Territory
Marcus almost crushed the tablet in his hand after reading the files in it. He gave Randall a look and murmured, "Many things have happened Randall. I will address everything one by one later. Right now my priority is to get my daughter back!"
He still couldn’t believe that Raine got romantically involved with the enemy! It was unacceptable for him! She had angel’s blood flowing in her body so how dare that monster covet someone as precious as his daughter. ’Nathaniel Yu must die no matter what way I have to use to get rid of him!’
He glared at Randall and hissed, "I want Nathaniel’s head, Randall. Kill that bloody monster!"
Randall kept his head on the ground but fisted his hands so tight that his knuckles turned white. Marcus noticed it so he frowned and murmured, "I have already told you... You have your freedom now so there’s no need for you to cling around me anymore."
Randall did not respond, making Marcus smirk as he scorned, "I thought so... Just do what you’re good at. Following all my orders without question."
Marcus looked at the clock and murmured, "My daughter is not someone to stay idle. I’m sure someone from Convel Society will call me soon."
"She’s old enough to decide for herself, My Lord. You should have let her go by now. Let her do what she wants. And she willingly wants to be with him. Those two truly love each other and I’ve never seen Princess Raine so happy in her whole life. It’s like she comes alive whenever she is with him," Randall said softly. Marcus gave him a sharp glare as he grunted, "You have no right to state your opinion here. Leave now!"
Randall stood up and immediately left the room. Marcus let out a sigh and closed his eyes. He gritted his teeth and murmured, "After this... I should get rid of him."
He suddenly coughed and covered his mouth with his palm. He creased his forehead, seeing the blood so he immediately called for Janus.
Janus arrived at the King’s room immediately and checked on him.
"What is going on? Why is there blood?" Marcus inquired.
"It’s only natural to have some symptoms. It will persist for a week since your body is still adjusting after the long hibernation. So far your vitals are normal and that is the only thing that matters. Do you somehow have any cravings for blood?" Janus asked.
"None as of yet. Why would you ask that? Didn’t I clearly instruct you to revive me back to health and make sure I will not become a monster?!" King Marcus asked with a creased forehead.
Janus forced a reassuring smile as he reasoned, "I did everything I can King Marcus. But as I told you... I cannot guarantee a hundred percent perfect result since I still used the blood in your veins and also replaced other parts with-"
"That’s enough! I don’t want to hear the details of your experiment on me! Just make sure that I won’t turn into a monster!"
"I understand, My Lord. I will do my best to stabilize your body but please don’t forget to report every little detail of your symptoms to me so that I can properly treat everything," Janus reasoned to which King Marcus only let out a frustrated sigh as an answer.
"King Marcus, can you tell me what happened before you started coughing blood? I need to know if your emotions are involved in causing symptoms such as this," Janus curiously asked. He had to make sure that Marcus would not have cravings or show any symptoms of becoming a monster like those mutants he used for the experiments he conducted to bring him back well and healthy as new.
"It was because of that bastard Randall. I was annoyed and furious because of him," Marcus casually commented.
"Randall?!"
King Marcus sent a glare so Janus quickly shut his mouth. But in truth, he was curious about the relationship between Marcus and Randall. Randall was like Marcus’ dog but his eyes were... Janus couldn’t exactly pinpoint it but there was something in Randall’s eyes that was telling him that he had a deep fury towards King Marcus.
Janus quietly took note of important things while questioning Marcus about his health and double-checked his body one last time.
After his work, he looked at Marcus and asked, "Do you think they will hand over the Princess tomorrow?"
King Marcus had a smirk and murmured, "Their Young King will definitely not give my daughter back but I know my daughter well. She will not let two innocent kids die because of her so she will definitely find a way to return no matter what."
"Why would the King of Convel Society not let her go?" Janus could not help but ask more. King Marcus looked at him with a blank expression as he informed, "Because he always wanted to snatch my daughter from me and you Janus. Their King is Tyrone..."
"What?!" Janus burst in disbelief.
"If you’re done checking on me then you can leave Janus. By the way, you have to work hard if you still want me to keep my daughter for you. I have agreed to let you marry Raine but that doesn’t mean the marriage is happening unless you prove that you’re worthy enough to keep my daughter as your wife."
Janus gulped. He bit his inner cheek before he managed to give Marcus a reassuring smile as he replied, "I won’t disappoint you, My Lord."
Marcus nodded and Janus spared no time in leaving the room as he was not sure how much longer he could keep the cool act.
’How dare you talk to me like that! Once I get married to Raine... I might as well get rid of you and rule the clan as Raine’s husband!’ he menacingly thought. He was definitely not pleased with how Marcus was always toying with him but he had to put up with it for a long time not only because of his love for Raine but also his greed to have her for himself. He had no other way but to use King Marcus as a bridge to make sure Raine belonged to him.
