The Unparalleled Sword Emperor -
Chapter 609 - 608: Dry Wild Inn!
Chapter 609: Chapter 608: Dry Wild Inn!
Lin Bai, Ji Bei, Ye Guxing, and Nanli Dao were galloping on Demon Scale Horses across the earth.
Seven days later.
Ji Bei pulled on the reins and gazed at the boundless wilderness ahead, shrouded in mist.
"The Karno Mountains are just ahead. Cross the mountains and we’ll be in Shen Feng Kingdom’s territory, and in another three or four days we’ll reach Shenwu Kingdom. We’ve all been through a lot in these last few days. There’s an inn up ahead. Shall we take a rest?"
Ji Bei proposed.
Lin Bai responded with a light chuckle, "That could be good. We’ve been on the move for seven days. Even if we can still hold up, our horses are tired. Let’s rest for the night and set off again tomorrow morning."
With that, the four of them led their horses into the inn.
This was an adventurer’s inn located outside the Karno Mountains.
The inn’s name was equally crude and straightforward: the Dry Wild Inn.
Upon entering the Dry Wild Inn, the first floor was bustling with noise. Rough men were holding bowls of alcohol, taking large gulps and gulping down chunks of meat. They sat together in groups of three or four, sharing amusing stories.
The ground was covered in a mess, utterly filthy.
Ji Bei led Lin Bai and the others into the inn; the others only glanced at them before returning to their drinks.
"Can I help you, gentlemen?" a waiter asked, approaching with a warm smile.
Ji Bei placed a bag of Spiritual Stones on the table and said, "Get us a table of good food and wine, and prepare four upper rooms."
The waiter collected the storage bag, grinning, "Sure thing, gentlemen. Come and sit over here. Seeing how generous you are, I’ll arrange a quiet spot for you."
"Most of the people on this floor are brute warriors going to the Karno Mountains to hunt Demon Beasts. Gentlemen, don’t mind them."
"This way, please."
The waiter led Lin Bai and the others to a spot near a window.
"Gentlemen, please take a seat whilst I arrange your rooms and meals."
Having said his piece, the waiter left.
After sitting down, Lin Bai examined the surroundings, noticing the burly warriors sneakily casting glances at them.
Lin Bai felt something was off.
Ji Bei laughed, "Lin Bai, you’ve made a name for yourself as the top Sword Cultivator in Lingdong this time. You have brought honor to the Spirit Sword Sect. When we return to the sect, I’m sure they will reward you handsomely."
Lin Bai smiled lightly, "As a disciple of the Spirit Sword Sect, it’s my duty to bring honor to the sect."
Ji Bei laughed happily, "Now that you’ve become the top Sword Cultivator in Lingdong, the Spirit Sword Sect’s reputation has spread throughout the Lingdong 700 States. The sect will start recruiting disciples, to attract more talented blood. Our Spirit Sword Sect is about to rise again."
In the midst of their conversation, the waiter brought their food and drinks.
"Gentlemen, I hope I’m not interrupting. Here’s your food and drinks."
After placing the fine wine and dishes on the table, the waiter chuckled and left.
Ji Bei laughed, "Lin Bai, you’ve had a tough journey. Eat something."
Ji Bei served some food into Lin Bai’s bowl.
Lin Bai said, "Elder, something doesn’t feel right."
Hearing this, both Ye Guxing and Nanli Dao paused, staring at Lin Bai curiously, "What’s wrong, Lin Bai?"
Ji Bei’s face turned solemn.
Lin Bai glanced at the food, and a cold smirk appeared at the corner of his mouth, "Cut the pretence, all of you. If you want to do anything, just do it. You can’t kill us with this Five Poisons Soul-Extinguishing Powder."
Lin Bai’s cold laughter filled the inn.
Suddenly, the lively inn became silent. The formerly cheerful warriors turned solemn, all of them watching Lin Bai.
A warrior pulled out his war sword from his storage bag, speaking coldly. "Lin Bai, since you refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit. If you had eaten your meals peacefully, we could have been more merciful in your death. But you had to tear this pretense apart, don’t blame us for being heartless."
"Brothers, let’s do this!"
"Alright!"
With a loud shout from this man, more than a hundred warriors within the inn drew their swords, attacking Lin Bai and Ji Bei from all sides.
These hundred-plus warriors were nearly all at the middle and late stages of the Half-step Divine Pill Realm. Their combined might, seemingly boundless, shook both heaven and earth as they threatened to overwhelm Lin Bai and Ji Bei.
"Hmph!"
"Flying Swords!"
Lin Bai stepped forward, and with a wave of his thought, a sword flew out of his Dantian and sliced through the air.
A glow of sword light fluttered, killing dozens of warriors at the Half-step Divine Pill Realm on the spot.
At the same time, Ji Bei drew his Treasure Sword and charged into battle, asking coldly, "We have no grudges against you, why are you plotting to kill us?"
"Hmph, no grudges or grievances! We, however, bear deep hatred for Lin Bai! Lin Bai, you’ve taken something you shouldn’t have. Today, you’re doubtlessly going to die!"
"Brothers, kill him for me!"
The hundred-plus warriors charged at Lin Bai as if they were desperate for death.
At this moment, Lin Bai also drew out his Qingge Sword and thrusted it fiercely at the enemy before him.
A glow of sword light pierced through the sky.
His sword pierced through the hearts of seven men before him.
Ye Guxing and Nanli Dao wore a matching solemn expression. Their cultivation levels were not high, being only at the ninth layer of the Heaven Martial Realm. Naturally, they couldn’t stand a chance against these warriors at the mid and late stages of the Half-step Divine Pill Realm.
Now, all they could do was protect themselves and there was no way they could aid Lin Bai and Ji Bei.
Luckily, Lin Bai and Ji Bei both had extremely strong abilities.
The two men joined forces and swept through the warriors. In the blink of an eye, the entire inn was filled with dead bodies, and blood flowed like a river.
"A bunch of trash, we will have to clean up the mess ourselves!"
Just then, from outside the inn, a black-robed elder quickly arrived.
This man’s face was sullen, and a strong murderous intent was visible on his face.
Lin Bai focused his gaze on this man, finding that his cultivation level was actually at the Human Elixir Realm.
"Human Elixir Realm!"
Both Lin Bai and Ji Bei exclaimed in surprise.
Ji Bei asked coldly, "I am Ji Bei, the Grand Elder of the Lingjian Sect’s Elder’s Hall. I wonder how we offended you, sir. If anything, this might be a misunderstanding..."
The green-faced man at the Human Elixir Realm level interrupted and coldly said, "Misunderstanding? There’s no misunderstanding here!"
"Die!"
The green-faced man lunged forward, landing a powerful palm strike on Ji Bei.
Ji Bei’s complexion drastically changed as he hurriedly used his sword skill to defend.
Splatter——
Ji Bei was directly hit by the green-faced man’s palm strike, coughing up fresh blood as he crashed into the wall.
"Elder!"
Lin Bai called out in concern.
"I’m fine! Lin Bai, Ye Guxing, Nanli Dao, quick, go! Scatter and run! He is a master of the Human Elixir Realm, we’re no match for him!" Ji Bei forcibly endured the extreme pain in his chest as he quickly urged Lin Bai.
Lin Bai’s face turned solemn, and he said to Ye Guxing and Nanli Dao, "Elder is injured. You two take him away. Leave this place to me."
Ye Guxing asked,"You? You sure?"
Though Ye Guxing didn’t intend to question Lin Bai’s abilities, considering their opponent was a master of the Human Elixir Realm and Lin Bai was only halfway into the Divine Pill Realm, they couldn’t believe Lin Bai would be able to defeat their adversary even with his exceptional powers.
Lin Bai replied,"I don’t have a choice! Don’t worry about me. Even if I can’t beat them, I should be able to escape."
Ye Guxing and Nanli Dao looked at each other, nodded, and said,"Alright, we’ll take Elder and leave first. Lin Bai, be careful. We’ll wait for you back at the Spirit Sword Sect!"
