Chapter 64: League of Legends, Renekton Look-Alike
Upon stepping into the portal, I was instantly transported back to the floating colosseum where I had been last time during the 1st Trial. The surroundings felt familiar, yet the scale of this place was even more imposing than I remembered. However, unlike before, when there were only seven superhumans, this time the colosseum was packed with at least a thousand superhumans, all gathered in this vast arena.
What the hell is this? Is this the 5th trial location? Hmm, I thought I was too late, but it turns out the aliens haven’t started the final trial yet. Wait a second... Now that I think about it, the alien did mention that the time in the 4th trial world is different from the outside world. I see, I guess that might explain why the final trial hasn’t started yet. Maybe the time here is different too, compared to the 4th trial world.
Looking around 360 degrees, I could see the nervousness in everyone. This time, it was clear just how high the stakes had become for the upcoming final trial. Then, glancing up at the center of the massive colosseum, I spotted a hologram board displaying the timer counting down to the start of the final trial:
[Time before the final trial starts: 7 minutes and 14 seconds remaining.]
Phew, looks like I made it just in time.
Meanwhile, looking around once more, I could tell everyone was looking rather exhausted. They were either sitting or lying down, while I was the only one standing. Everyone seemed to be feeling down, and I figured it was most likely because they had to kill their teammates in the 4th trial to make it here. It made sense—they probably felt guilty about it. After all, only one person could advance to the 5th trial.
Then it hit me—if only one person can advance to the final trial, then why am I here? I couldn’t help but wonder. Hmm, did I get lucky or something? Hold on, wait! Don’t tell me John is here too in this colosseum?! The thought of him being here sent a jolt through me. I quickly scanned around, my eyes darting from person to person, searching for any sign of him. After a short while, a wave of relief washed over me when I realized John wasn’t here.
Phew... Holy shit! Thank god that son of a bitch isn’t here.
As I looked up at the vast blue sky, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of shock wash over me. There were countless other floating colosseums scattered across the sky, each one suspended in the air, just like the one I was standing in. The sight was overwhelming. My mind raced, and my first thought was that I must have gotten lucky—John had to be in one of those other colosseums, not the one I was in right now.
Now, I feel kind of sorry for the other superhumans having John, that vampire freak, in their group. Who knows what he might do to them down the road? In any case, I’m glad I don’t have to deal with John right now.
That said, I couldn’t believe how many superhumans were gathered here in this colosseum I’m currently in. If I had to estimate, I’d say there were at least a thousand—or maybe even more. Just by looking at the sheer number, it was clear that the final trial wasn’t going to be easy. After all, why else would they need so many superhumans here?
At this moment, I sat down to rest while waiting for the final trial timer to hit zero. Right now, there are still 3 minutes and 28 seconds remaining. I couldn’t help but feel an intense wave of nervousness. In just a few minutes from now, everything—my life and everyone else’s—would be turned upside down. In short, we were about to experience hell very soon.
Glancing around once more, I noticed a few superhumans talking quietly among themselves, but the majority still remained silent, either resting or deep in thought. It seemed like everyone was trying to collect their thoughts, focus, and mentally prepare for the final trial that was about to begin.
...
...
Three minutes finally passed...
Fuck! This is it. The moment everyone had been waiting for had finally arrived.
Out of nowhere, a thunderous trumpet sound erupted, echoing through the colosseum and shattering the tense silence like a crack of lightning:
TOO-TOO-TOO-TOO-TOOOOOOM!
In an instant, an enormous portal appeared, and shortly after, three alien soldiers stepped out of it. Without hesitation, the alien soldier at the very front stepped forward and immediately announced what we needed to know.
"Alright, everyone, listen up! First off, congratulations on making it to the final trial!" the alien said. "Now, let’s get down to business. First of all, this trial has two stages. In the first stage, you’ll be facing a boss monster right here in this colosseum. In the second stage, the environment will change once again, and you’ll face the final boss monster, the "Sky Dragon." So, what do you need to do? Simple: just do your best and survive! If you manage to make it through to the end, you’ll be handsomely rewarded. Very well, that’s it! Good luck, everyone, I wish you all the best!"
After explaining everything we needed to know, the alien soldiers stepped back into the portal and vanished. Then at this moment, the hologram board in the center of this colosseum flickered, displaying a new message:
[Please be ready! A boss monster will appear soon in 10 seconds!]
In an instant, everyone began drawing their weapons out, preparing without hesitation. There was no time to think; we had to brace for the worst.
Meanwhile, as I stood here deep in thought, I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of boss monster would appear this time. With about 1,000 superhumans gathered here, it was clear that this boss had to be formidable—strong enough to even give 1,000 S-Rank superhumans a serious challenge.
Ah, I’m feeling a whirlwind of emotions right now. On one hand, I’m incredibly nervous, but on the other, there’s this excitement bubbling up inside me. It’s hard to put into words, but I’d say I’m kind of looking forward to it.
...
...
10 seconds later...
Suddenly, right above us, a 40-foot gigantic portal materialized. Not long after, a humanoid-reptile boss monster appeared.
LEVEL SCAN!
I immediately activated my Level Scan skill to check the boss monster’s level.
[Name: Humanoid T-Rex]
[Level: SS-Rank]
What?! SS-Rank?! Holy shit!
I see, that explained why we needed at least 1,000 S-Rank superhumans to fight it and make the battle fair and balanced.
Eventually, the boss monster landed on the colosseum’s ground with a heavy thud.
THUD! RUMBLE!
Right away, it let out a mighty roar to intimidate us all.
ROAAARRR!!!
Upon closer inspection of the Humanoid T-Rex’s entire body, from head to toe, I realized something. W-Wait, what?! Renekton?! Renekton from the video game League of Legends?!
First of all, I’m not saying this boss monster looked exactly like Renekton, but it did bear a striking resemblance—except with T-Rex-like skin. As you may know, in League of Legends, you can buy various skins for your champions. In this case, this boss monster looked like Renekton but with a completely new type of skin. I’d simply call it the "Renekton T-Rex Skin Edition."
