Chapter 109: Defeating Ragnar
Chapter 109: Defeating Ragnar
Seriously, who would’ve thought of even cooking someone? Geez, I guess I’m literally a cannibal at this point. But you know what? You gotta do what you gotta do. I mean, in this case, I don’t really have a choice. If I want to kill this final boss monster, this unfortunately seems to be the only way.
Either way, I can’t afford to be picky anyway. Because If I don’t win this, I’ll never be able to escape this world or this Tower of Self. So yeah, fuck it. If I have to be a cannibal to succeed, then so be it. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to complete this final quest and get out of here.
PUNCH! PUNCH! PUNCH!
KICK! KICK! KICK!
"Die!!! Die!!! Die!!!" Ragnar shouted again, attacking me relentlessly. It seemed he refused to give up, even though he knew he was about to lose. I couldn’t blame him, though—death meant little to him since he could always come back to life and challenge me again. He probably thought there was no harm in going all out and not giving up.
Hehe! Too bad, he had no idea what was coming for him. After all, I wasn’t just going to let him regenerate back to life. Nope. Instead, I was going to cook him up and enjoy a nice meal. Kekeke! Ah, I can’t wait!
...
...
Another hour passed...
Ragnar stood before me, his body battered and barely holding together. Blood dripped from countless wounds, staining the ground beneath him. His bones were broken in multiple places, his movements sluggish, as if every step threatened to bring him crashing down. I wasn’t doing that great either, covered in injuries and aching all over, but at least I wasn’t as bad as him.
While our regeneration skill worked nonstop to mend our wounds, it just couldn’t keep up. The injuries we had inflicted on each other ran too deep, far exceeding what the skill could heal in time. No matter how much it tried to patch us up, the damage was simply too much.
Furthermore, we’ve been fighting nonstop this whole time, without even resting to heal or recover. Seriously, damn this Ragnar—he actually seemed to be enjoying this for some reason, even though he was the one losing.
Besides that, what impressed me the most at this moment was this throne room itself. Considering our current strength, we could easily destroy a mountain with just a single punch, yet this throne room remained remarkably intact, barely showing any signs of damage. It was as if the very walls and pillars had been reinforced with something far beyond ordinary materials.
As I focused, I could sense a faint yet powerful aura emanating from them, as if they were protected by some kind of magic barrier. The magic felt ancient, and it was clear that whoever had constructed this room had gone to great lengths to ensure it could withstand even the most destructive forces.
"You fucking cheater!!!" Ragnar shouted, clearly frustrated. "If only I’d inherited your memories, I would’ve won by now! Ugh, damn it! This is so unfair!"
I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Enough with the whining already, Ragnar. Just die already, will you? You’re wasting my time. And honestly, I don’t even understand why you’re so scared of losing. It’s not like you’re going to die anyway. You’ll just regenerate and be back to full strength later. So just stop it, you’re simply dragging things out for no reason."
Jeez... One thing I’ve noticed so far is that Ragnar kind of acts like a little kid. I guess it’s probably because he only inherited a small portion of Ragnar’s memories, leaving him short on life experience. It’s almost like a baby being born into the world with no memories, a completely fresh and new mind. While he does have some memories, they’re clearly not enough to make him feel like a full adult.
Well, this Ragnar is just a clone anyway, so I shouldn’t expect much.
CHARGE!
Without giving Ragnar a moment to recover, I launched my attack.
My punches and kicks were relentless, no mercy in them—I had to take him down as quickly as possible, before he had a chance to heal up. Of course, this damn Ragnar was stubborn as fuck, refusing to give up until the very end. I’m not sure what the real Ragnar’s personality was like, but I’d bet that not giving up was probably part of who he was.
PUNCH! PUNCH! PUNCH! KICK! KICK! KICK!
"Hoorah! Time for you to die!" I shouted, landing punch after punch and kick after kick. By now, Ragnar could only block, his strength completely drained. Eventually, both his arms were shattered, rendering him unable to defend himself.
"Goddammit! I’m not giving up yet!" Ragnar gritted out, still trying to hold on to the idea that he could win.
I grinned wide, my blood pumping with excitement. "Hahaha! You’re really stubborn, huh? Fine, then. Since you won’t quit, I’ll make sure you suffer for it." I paused, watching the last glimmer of resistance in his eyes, before my expression shifted into something darker.
Hehe! You’re fucking dead now!
Immediately, I stopped my series of punches and kicks, letting him catch a brief, shaky breath. Then, without hesitation, I began slapping his face, each strike harsh and precise. His head snapped to one side with every hit, only to be forced back into place for the next one. Left and right, over and over, until he could barely keep his eyes open.
SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!
PA! PA! PA!
"Hurrah!!! Ora!!! Wacha!!! Wacha!!! Wacha!!!" I shouted, each slap landing harder than the last, echoing through the air as I continued to smack Ragnar’s face nonstop.
"Aaaaaaaghhhh!!! Stoooopppp itttt!!! It hurts!!!" Ragnar screamed, his voice breaking with pain and fear as he tried to wriggle away from my blows.
I smirked. "Welp, it’s way too late for that now, Ragnar. You should’ve given up earlier while you had the chance." I leaned in closer, my grin widening as I looked him over. "But don’t worry! I’ll stop once you’re dead! Hahaha!"
...
...
Eventually:
Ding!
[You have the final boss monster, Ragnar’s Clone!]
[Error! Final quest completion failed! The final boss monster is still alive!]
"Perfect! Alright, time to cook this motherfucker right away! Let’s fucking go!" I said, feeling pumped.
