Chapter 118: Chapter 118
Her voice was neither loud nor quiet, just enough to overpower the murmuring, causing the employees to fall silent and all turn to look at her.
The young man opened his radiant fox-like eyes, calmly and indifferently gazing at them, with not the slightest trace of sleepiness. The employees felt both surprised and astonished.
Was she not asleep?
The employees exchanged glances with each other.
Seeing the conference room quiet down, Rong Zhi raised an eyebrow with satisfaction, tapping her fingers lightly on the table, and lifted her chin to signal the employee reporting the work opposite her, "Continue."
The employee swallowed hard and continued presenting the Rong Family’s financial report for the past six months.
The entire meeting lasted nearly two hours, and around twelve o’clock, Rong Zhi announced the end of the meeting, dismissing everyone.
The finance department employees left the conference room one by one, quickly gathering together to chat.
Inside the conference room.
Rong Zhi was reporting the content of the morning meeting to Rong Fangjun. She spoke little, even when typing a chat, she was concise and direct, but every word hit the key points, simple and easy to understand, letting one know immediately what kind of person she was.
Old Sir Rong: [Third child, don’t rush, just keep doing it. If you don’t understand something, come ask Grandpa. Also, your secretary has been arranged by your third uncle. There’s an interview in the afternoon. If you have time, go take a look.]
Rong Qichuo’s internship was immediately arranged with an assistant and a secretary by Rong Xian’an.
But Rong Zhi didn’t like too many people around, so she rejected Rong Fangjun’s proposal of assigning her two people, opting only for a secretary.
Anyway, she could handle it alone.
Just as she replied to the Old Sir, the conference room door was pushed open, and Rong Jin, wearing a dark gray suit, walked in, holding a piece of paper in his hand. Rong Zhi stared for two seconds and then understood.
"Nephew, this is my reimbursement application." Rong Jin handed the paper to Rong Zhi with both hands.
Rong Zhi took it, glanced down to examine.
This reimbursement application was similar to what she had seen before, without major issues.
However, she didn’t have a pen at hand and was about to get up to leave when a pen was suddenly handed to her.
Rong Zhi paused, following the pen to look at the hand holding it, then noticed the frayed edge of a shirt sleeve covering the hand.
It seemed like it had been washed often enough to become this way.
She couldn’t help but recall when she saw Rong Jin hurrying to reimburse expenses earlier, understanding regarding a bit in her heart. She picked up the pen and elegantly signed her name on the reimbursement application.
The official seal was needed, but Rong Jin didn’t carry it with him; it was still in the human resources department. Rong Zhi followed him to get it.
On the way, Rong Jin mentioned the afternoon’s interview.
"If you’re free, come take a look?" Rong Jin suggested.
Rong Zhi nodded.
Having stamped the papers, Rong Jin’s brows that had been troubled all morning finally relaxed into a smile, making his severe face appear pleasant.
"Thanks, nephew, come on, Uncle’s treating you to lunch."
It was break time, and no one was working in the finance department. Rong Jin wasn’t in a rush to get the money, so he took Rong Zhi to the group cafeteria on the twentieth floor.
At noon, the group cafeteria was at its busiest.
Rong Jin wanted to get the meal for Rong Zhi, but she didn’t want to trouble the elder, so she took a tray with him to get the food.
The cafeteria was self-service, offering various cuisines. The Rong Family wouldn’t skimp on meals for employees. Rong Zhi walked around the self-service area; she hadn’t taken much yet when Rong Jin filled her tray with quite a lot of food.
All neatly arranged on small plates.
Seeing Rong Jin still about to grab desserts for her, his own tray contained only two or three dishes, all vegetarian.
Rong Zhi furrowed her brows slightly, reaching out to take his tray and handed over her own.
Rong Jin was startled: "What’s the matter? Not to your taste?"
Rong Zhi shook her head, added soup to her tray, "That’s enough."
She spoke as she headed to the checkout. She remembered the prices of the dishes along the way. Without a company meal card, she took out her phone to scan the QR code, intending to pay for both meals herself.
Rong Jin hurriedly stopped her, "Hey, no need, no need, Uncle can’t eat that much..."
Before he finished speaking, Rong Zhi had already successfully paid.
Rong Jin: "..."
Really left no chance at all.
Rong Zhi carried the trays, relying on her height advantage to scan the restaurant, then walked directly in one direction.
Rong Jin could only follow behind her.
As they walked, he muttered softly: "...Ah, nephew, sorry for the expense. Next time, Uncle will treat you to something nicer."
"No need."
Once seated, Rong Zhi pushed two dishes in front of Rong Jin, tore open her chopsticks, and said softly, "Not lacking this bit."
