The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 527 - 520: Just Like a Dream
Chapter 527: Chapter 520: Just Like a Dream
When Gao Yuan and Xinghe followed Ram to Mr. Justin’s doorstep, they happened to see Big Ivan getting out of his car from a distance.
Even now, in the apocalypse, even here, in a remote corner of the African savannah, some people still maintained a life of luxury, which could be described as a sinful lifestyle.
Aside from the weather being a bit hot and the absence of numerous luxury cars parked around, everything here, at least on the surface, seemed no different from a high-society banquet before.
"Brother Yang, I’m a bit curious, with resources being so tight at this time, isn’t Mr. Justin’s lifestyle... so luxurious... going to cause you any trouble?"
Gao Yuan and his companions had truly walked here, so they saw clearly—the butler waiting at Mr. Justin’s doorstep to greet the guests and the maids standing solemnly behind the butler.
Maids dressed in maid outfits.
Ram let out a sigh and said, "Mr. Justin actually isn’t very ostentatious, but when necessary, well, to correct that, at any time he will never give up a luxurious lifestyle. But I can’t stop him because all the supplies are brought by him. He even provided me with two containership loads of supplies, and had them transported all the way here from the port, so tell me, how can I stop him?"
"I thought you were talking about two containers, not two containerships..."
After Gao Yuan whispered this, Ram shrugged and said, "The ships aren’t very big—just over 20,000 tons in displacement. Basically, all the electronics, tractors, uh, many things here are provided by him, or donated, or invested by him. It wouldn’t be possible to build this place with just me."
As the two walked on, Xinghe suddenly said, "I feel like I should have dressed more formally. I’m wearing camouflage, but they are all in formal wear, evening gowns, right?"
Gao Yuan, too, was dressed in a full set of camouflage. Where here could he possibly find a suit, let alone a formal evening gown.
Ram spoke indifferently, "Don’t worry, Mr. Justin must have prepared something for you, brand new, expensive, works of famous designers, and... the most comfortable."
After speaking, Ram turned to Gao Yuan with a smile and said, "Don’t be polite with him. Remember this, do not be polite with him—he’s richer than you imagine."
The three of them slowly made their way to Mr. Justin’s front door, which led to a very large courtyard, much larger than Gao Yuan’s house, it seemed.
"Welcome."
After a graceful bow of welcome, Mr. Justin embraced Ram, and then he exchanged courtesies with Gao Yuan, simply shaking hands, and the same with Xinghe.
Following the greetings, Mr. Justin smiled and said, "Please come in, welcome to my humble abode."
There were no other guests. Mr. Justin accompanied the three of them inside, then he said with a mild and friendly smile, "Please excuse my indiscretion, but I believe Miss Xinghe might need a suitable dress. We all know that an evening gown is cumbersome and useless now, but here, right now, perhaps Miss Xinghe would like to show her most beautiful side."
As expected, it came as expected.
Xinghe turned to Mr. Justin and said, "Hmm?"
Mr. Justin very, very politely said, "If I may have the honor, and if you don’t mind, I would like to offer Mr. Gao and Miss Xinghe some clothing for outside of battle, as it happens I have some prepared here."
Gao Yuan didn’t expect to be included. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Oh?"
Xinghe, however, was thrilled, "Clothes? Those intricate and useless, expensive, status-symbolizing, requiring assistance to put on kind of court dresses? Fantastic. Our civilization abandoned such needs long ago, but now I’m very eager to give it a try."
Mr. Justin was taken aback, but he quickly said, "Er, not a court dress, just... an evening gown that can perfectly showcase your beautiful figure..."
"Great, I’m willing to accept."
Xinghe spoke, and then she turned to Gao Yuan, saying, "You’ll accompany me."
To wear a suit in the aftermath just to attend a dinner banquet, no, just to match Xinghe’s dress, Gao Yuan had wanted to refuse, but then he thought better of it; he couldn’t let Xinghe and Mr. Justin seem more suited for each other, could he?
An inexplicable emotion prompted Gao Yuan to say, "Alright."
"My honor, Maduo, please take this gentleman and lady to their guest room."
Gao Yuan and Xinghe didn’t enter the main hall, they entered the guest room through a side door. It was a very large guest room, complete with a cloakroom, washroom, servant’s quarters—overall, a rather complex room.
There were seven people waiting for Gao Yuan and Xinghe, six men and one woman.
Two women and one man escorted Gao Yuan into a guest room, where a full set of clothes had already been laid out in the cloakroom, and a middle-aged man in his forties bowed slightly to Gao Yuan, then babbled something at him in Italian.
Gao Yuan, of course, didn’t understand, so the middle-aged man used his fingers to make a haircut gesture.
One of the maids smiled at Gao Yuan and then went into the bathroom to start filling the tub, while another maid, speaking with a heavy Shenzhou accent, asked him, "Would you like a haircut?"
Gao Yuan suddenly realized that Mr. Justin had not only prepared clothes for him but had also readied the bathroom and even a barber.
What kind of life did these rich people lead?
If it hadn’t been for the apocalypse, Gao Yuan might have been very pleased with the current situation, but considering the context, he only found it bizarre.
"Uh, let’s skip the haircut, I can’t delay for too long."
"Mr. Gao, the banquet begins at eight o’clock. Mr. Justin has allowed ample time for you and the lady," said the maid.
Gao Yuan paused for a moment, then followed the barber to a mirror and sat down. He just sat there, without any conversation, letting the barber give him a haircut,
Forget everything, just enjoy the life of the wealthy while you have the chance, right?
Gao Yuan found that the private barber’s skills were indeed different from those of a thirty-yuan barber, um, and infinitely better than the ten-yuan haircuts back in his hometown.
After getting his hair cut and slipping into the two-meter wide and two-meter long mini-jacuzzi, Gao Yuan still felt a sense of unreality.
What exactly had Mr. Justin shipped here with those two boats?
Gao Yang had the most comfortable bath of his life, um, he hadn’t even experienced such luxury before the apocalypse.
When Gao Yuan finished bathing and was about to get dressed, he found a maid had already prepared a bathrobe for him. Gao Yuan, however, couldn’t quite enjoy this luxury and ultimately asked the maid to leave, opting to wrap up in the bathrobe himself rather than to have someone do it for him.
And then, just when Gao Yuan thought he could get dressed, he discovered that another maid had arrived, asking him to sit in front of the mirror to set his freshly cut hair, and even attempting to give him some light makeup or something. He knew about these because the maid who could translate continued to stay by his side.
"Sir, would you like to tidy up your eyebrows a bit?"
"Sir, would you like to further groom your beard, or perhaps shave it clean..."
