Chapter 523: Chapter 516: Show Off for a Bit
Aliens had seen quite a few monsters, but as far as actual aliens were concerned, there was only Xinghe so far.
So no matter where she went, Xinghe was definitely the center of everyone’s attention—that went without saying. Unless her identity was concealed, it was impossible not to focus on Xinghe.
A live alien—how could you not take a good look and do justice to your own eyes?
Therefore, anyone here at Satan’s who was qualified to know of Xinghe’s existence and had the chance to meet her would definitely show up. Even if there was no particular reason, they would still find an opportunity to see the alien.
Gao Yuan felt that this was exactly what was happening now. Big Ivan and Justin had come to see Xinghe, and as for setting up a new nation, that probably was just an excuse, definitely an excuse.
Humanity was about to be doomed—what was the point of establishing a country?
But you had to say, Justin really knew how to schmooze—his mouth was truly sweet.
"Mr. Gao, I sincerely invite you and Miss Xinghe to visit my place. Sorry, I’m not trying to show off or anything, but as you know, resources are extremely scarce right now, and this has made our familiar daily foods and consumption turn into luxuries. So what I want to say is, I have some really scarce items at my place."
Justin touched his forehead with his finger, pondered for a moment, and said, "Hmm, let me think—I have some top-grade ingredients, like diamond white truffles from Italy, which are much better than the black truffles from France. There’s Iberian ham, caviar from the Caspian Sea, French foie gras—just to clarify, these are frozen, but we can’t be too choosy right now, right? Also, Kobe beef and some frozen oysters. I don’t like frozen goods, but now... there’s really nowhere to buy fresh ones. I have Belon oysters, Gilardeau oysters, Sydney rock oysters, Kumamoto oysters, and Bluff oysters, these I still have. Once again, I regret that I can only offer frozen products, but as you know, we can’t ask for too much these days."
The Ram and Big Ivan just quietly watched Justin show off.
Gao Yuan slightly tilted his head because he had never heard of the things Justin mentioned, um, not even before the end of the world.
Let alone having eaten them.
Xinghe grew interested, her eyes shining as she asked, "Are they all tasty?"
Justin spread his hands and responded, "Dear Miss Xinghe, please trust me, the world’s finest ingredients, the best chefs, they’re all in my kitchen. Oh and, you might want to have a drink, I have a lot of wine in stock."
Big Ivan suddenly asked, "What kind of red wine do you have?"
"There’s Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon from ’15, Chateau Margaux from ’86, a batch of Chateau Cheval Blanc from ’02, oh, and a batch of ’95 Romanée-Conti. Basically, my collection of precious stored wines consists of these, and what I’m drinking now comes from Chateau Cheval Blanc, with ’02 being a particularly good year."
Big Ivan shrugged his shoulders and spread his hands, saying, "You’ve never mentioned having these wines to us before. As friends, that’s not very nice of you."
Justin waved his hand, looking apologetic, and said, "As a gentleman, it’s truly shameful to be told by a friend that I’m not friend enough. I’m terribly sorry, I really thought you wouldn’t be lacking in wine, am I wrong?"
Justin mixed Chinese and English when he spoke, which Gao Yuan didn’t quite understand, so he asked in a low voice, "How much does that wine cost...?"
After thinking for a moment, Justin replied, "Let me think, which batch are you referring to? Chateau Cheval Blanc? Well, I spent six hundred and twenty thousand US Dollars for about eight hundred bottles, um, not even ten thousand dollars a bottle—not expensive, really. It’s just everyday wine, not meant for collection or investment."
Gao Yuan swallowed hard.
It was at this moment that Xinghe suddenly asked, "Do you have Diet Coke?"
Gao Yuan was shocked, as were the Ram and everyone else—all were baffled.
Justin, looking bewildered, said, "Pepsi? Uh, Ram, there should be some in the store, right?"
Ram nodded, "Yes, I can bring a few bottles of Pepsi to visit, in exchange for a few bottles of red wine."
Xinghe shook his head repeatedly, "No, not Pepsi, but Baijiu—the white in white. A friend of mine said it was the best drink she ever had, without a doubt."
Everyone was stunned, and Gao Yuan quickly said, "It’s nothing, nothing, just a preference. You go on, please continue."
Justin scratched his head, looking very embarrassed, as Xinghe had made a request he couldn’t fulfill.
But Justin would never know what Baijiu cola was.
He sighed and then said with a smile, "Or is there anything else you require? If we start preparing now, I think everything should be ready by dinner time."
Big Ivan said coldly, "Yes, I want black bread and borscht. I can’t drink vodka anymore, so be sure to prepare extra red wine."
Looking at Uri Young and Polovitch by his side, Big Ivan smiled and said, "These two can drink a lot, so you’d better prepare more."
Justin frowned and said, "Alright then."
The young man named Ivan said, "Justin, my friend, you weren’t planning on not inviting us, were you?"
Justin laughed heartily, "How could that be, just joking, how could that be."
Continuing in a very gracious tone, Justin addressed Xinghe, "I have the best Italian chefs, any dish you like, please tell me in advance. I hope to serve you with the most classic Italian flavors."
In a low voice, Gao Yuan said, "Pizza? Pasta? Uh, I’ve never had real Italian pizza, I mean, the kind made by Italian chefs..."
Justin laughed and said, "Although I’d like to say Italian cuisine is not just pizza and pasta, no problem, absolutely no problem. You will have the most authentic pizza and pasta, even if this place is not Italy."
After saying that, Justin looked at his watch and then smiled, "Ladies and gentlemen, I need to go back and start preparing. Six o’clock in the afternoon, I will wait for you at home. Please excuse me for leaving first, goodbye."
Justin stood up, and he and Renato left Ram’s place together.
Gao Yuan felt that this might just be the lifestyle of underground figures, such a formal invitation just for dinner.
But only after Justin had left did Gao Yuan realize that the atmosphere was somewhat different.
After Justin had left, Big Ivan turned to Ram and asked, "What do you think?"
Ram shook his head and said, "Not much. I don’t think Justin is quite right. He’s plotting something pointless, and that’s dangerous."
Big Ivan rested his arm on the armrest of the sofa, his left hand supporting his cheek. After pondering for a while, he looked up and said in a deep voice, "I can understand Justin. Unlike us, you and I both started from scratch. We don’t have noble ancestors, we’re just nobodies, but it’s different for Justin—he’s from the Cicero Family. Their family has always been noble, but they can only shine in the underworld. I think, maybe Justin wants to seize the last chance to shine before this world perishes."
