The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 518 - 511 Climbing the Wall
Chapter 518: Chapter 511 Climbing the Wall
The air seemed to have solidified; everyone fell into collective silence.
A moment later, Li Jingang finally spoke with a grave expression, "You’re going to fight him? Have a spar?"
"Yes, I want to test his skills."
As Li Jinfang spoke these words, he was looking at Gao Yuan, his gaze, tone, gestures, and facial expressions all exuding his confidence.
"Why bother? If you ask me, just drop it."
These words were from Yu Shunzhou, who frowned and said with a serious face, "Everyone’s so familiar with each other, there’s no need for a fight. What if you lose to him and make him even more smug? Brother Li, we all know you’re very skillful, but the issue is this guy, Gao Yuan, you can’t treat him like a regular person. What’s the point of sparring with him?"
Li Jinfang couldn’t help but laugh, while Gao Yuan’s face grew dark as he said, "What do you mean by that?"
Yu Shunzhou waved his hand and replied, "Just that fighting you is meaningless, nothing else."
Li Jingang, however, furrowed his brows and said, "I don’t see the point in you fighting him either. Jinfang, just how good have you become now?"
Li Jinfang pondered for a long while before shaking his head and saying, "Hard to say, but basically, I have no opponents left. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a worthy one."
This was a bold claim. Before anyone else could react, Li Jingang was already not having it.
"Hey, impressive, no opponents left? If I wasn’t immobilized right now, I’d surely teach you a lesson. Without me around, it seems you’re getting cocky."
Li Jinfang spoke seriously, "If you were still at your old level, then you wouldn’t be my match now, I could take on both of you without a problem."
Li Jingang inhaled sharply.
"Hiss, my temper, you really start panting once someone calls you fat."
"Why are you getting worked up? You can’t even move right now."
Li Jinfang was dismissive, then confidently pronounced, "Back when I enlisted, I couldn’t beat you, and you took first place. But now, without even trying, I know you’re no match for me. Don’t you deny it; when you’re better, you decide how we compete. If I don’t beat you into utter submission then, I, I’ll..."
Li Jinfang gestured and said, "Anyway, as of now, you’re no match for me."
The scene was indeed entertaining. Gao Yuan, the main subject, could just sit back and watch the show.
Li Jingang protested anxiously, "If I could move, I’d beat you so bad you’d be crawling and wetting yourself. Just wait, you wait and see!"
Li Jinfang waved his hand and said, "Wait and see, the key point is, for now, you tell me how it is. Whether Gao Yuan is capable or not, whether we can fight. I’m just worried about accidentally injuring him, that wouldn’t be good."
Once again, his words shocked everyone.
Li Jingang had faced off with Gao Yuan before, back when Gao Yuan had just mutated and hadn’t mastered any real combat skills. But now, after training with several renowned masters, Gao Yuan was even more formidable than before, let alone Li Jingang’s ability to compete with him.
"He could let you fight with one hand."
Li Jingang had a tremendous amount of confidence in Gao Yuan. He told Li Jinfang, "My fear is that he won’t be able to hold back. It’s one thing if he knocks you down, but if you get hurt, or heaven forbid, killed, that would be truly unfortunate."
Li Jinfang scratched his head and said, "I’ve seen him in action, and honestly, he’s still lacking a bit. Hmm, if weapons were involved, I probably couldn’t beat him, but barehanded..."
After glancing back at Gao Yuan several times, Li Jinfang nodded and said, "I estimate it’s about even. As long as he doesn’t keep running, I’m confident I can handle it. If he starts running, I definitely won’t be able to catch up. Can’t help that."
Gao Yuan was stunned, not just Gao Yuan, but everyone else was all the more astonished.
After a long while, Gao Yuan finally said, "Shall we give it a try?"
"Give it a try, give it a try, I think..."
Li Jinfang looked around and assessed the size of the hospital room before nodding, "I think this room will do."
The ward was not small. Though there were many camp beds and a few original hospital beds scattered about, there was still space in the room, enough to allow for some sparring.
If the camp beds were moved aside, at least ten square meters of space could be cleared.
Causing another stir, Yu Shunzhou suddenly stood up from his hospital bed, then loudly said, "Come on, everyone make way. Move my bed out of the way, Taoist Priest, give me a hand."
Li Jingang said in amazement, "You really aren’t afraid of dying, are you? Come, move my bed as well, make some space for them to spar. Gao Yuan, be careful, touch and go, you can’t hit too hard."
Gao Yuan subconsciously flexed his fingers and said, "Are we really going to fight? Okay then, I’ll try not to use too much strength, but I’m afraid I might not be able to control it."
No one was optimistic about Li Jinfang, not a single person except for himself.
"It’s not guaranteed that you win just because you’re strong and fast."
After Li Jinfang finished speaking brashly, he helped to move a few hospital beds, and then he stood in the middle of the cleared space, looking around before saying, "This place is good enough, come on."
Xinghe quickly stepped to the side, excitedly saying to Gao Yuan, "I’m rooting for you, you can definitely do it."
The two men stood facing each other, just two meters apart. Li Jinfang took a breath, then stood with his feet slightly apart, hands raised in front of him but not clenched into fists, assuming a defensive stance before saying to Gao Yuan, "Come on."
Come on it was—Gao Yuan was full of confidence.
At a distance of two meters, there was certainly no need for a running start. Gao Yuan suddenly lunged forward, his right fist aiming for the right armpit of Li Jinfang.
Isn’t there a saying, "speed is unbreakable"? Gao Yuan didn’t exert too much strength because he was genuinely afraid of injuring Li Jinfang. A fracture would put Li Jinfang out of action for at least two months, turning him into a non-combat reduction in force.
With Gao Yuan’s speed, he truly did not believe that Li Jinfang could catch this punch, because his speed was definitely beyond what a human could match.
Li Jinfang couldn’t catch Gao Yuan’s punch, but he dodged it. By simply shifting his body to the side, he avoided the punch, albeit looking somewhat awkward. Yet Gao Yuan’s punch did indeed pass in front of Li Jinfang’s chest.
Then Li Jinfang tried to grab Gao Yuan’s arm, but Gao Yuan was too fast for him to comprehend, causing Li Jinfang’s hands to swipe through the air, missing their mark.
Gao Yuan withdrew his right hand, and swiftly dug in with a left hook.
Li Jinfang side-stepped again. This time he didn’t attempt to grab Gao Yuan’s hand but instead lay down on the ground, delivering a kick with his left leg, followed by another with his right and that was it.
Li Jinfang was lying on the ground, while Gao Yuan was flying through the air.
Gao Yuan didn’t know why he had been sent flying. All he knew was that he seemed to have punched into thin air, felt a kick to his stomach, and then he was airborne.
Instinctively, Gao Yuan protected his head with his arms, and then he heard a loud bang—a flash of darkness followed by light—and then he saw a greatly horrified face in front of him.
The walls of the hospital were not made of bricks or concrete but were those of a temporary structure, consisting of foam panels sandwiched between two layers of wood board, with some soundproofing material in between, then painted over.
Gao Yuan struggled instinctively, only to realize he was wedged in the wall, his head and upper body having crashed into the adjacent ward, while his legs remained behind.
Gao Yuan was astounded to find he had gone through the wall; he had actually been punched into the wall.
