The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 515 - 508 Contribution Points
Chapter 515: Chapter 508 Contribution Points
Gao Yuan was only responsible for conveying what he knew, and then he explained how Shenzhou handled things, mainly the extremely successful defense of Guisui Institution No.1. Facing an assault by millions of zombies and monsters combined, Guisui Institution No.1 still emerged with a successful defense.
However, the successful case of Guisui Institution No.1 was not replicable, at least not by Solar System Company.
The terrain of Guisui Institution No.1 was incredibly advantageous; moreover, Guisui Institution No.1 had set up a large number of landmines and artillery beforehand, and finally, the firepower density of Guisui Institution No.1 was something that Solar System Company simply could not replicate.
When Gao Yuan revealed the extent of firepower that Guisui Institution No.1 had utilized to achieve the precious victory, everyone immediately abandoned the idea.
Consequently, Ram’s proposal quickly gained the support of almost everyone.
Gao Yuan realized that Ram was truly wicked, wicked to the core.
Once he realized that zombies were not so easy to deal with, that they would require some sacrifice, Ram immediately changed his combat strategy from "pulling chestnuts out of the fire" to "driving the tiger to swallow the wolf."
Attacking Malakal oneself, when is it better to let the Sanitation Workers hit a snag first? That’s about letting the Sanitation Workers and zombies fight a stalemate, while Solar System Company reaps the benefits from behind. Even if the Sanitation Workers finally did manage to completely eliminate the zombies, it wouldn’t be too late for Solar System Company to attack the Sanitation Workers.
Perhaps Solar System Company could even uproot the Sanitation Workers’ influence here in one fell swoop, taking Kodok and Malut along as well.
How to get the Sanitation Workers to take the initiative to attack Malakal? That was quite simple, as long as Solar System Company put on a show of wanting to attack, the Sanitation Workers would have no choice but to strike first.
Of course, the Sanitation Workers could choose to fight Solar System Company instead of attacking the zombie-infested Malakal, but the problem was, the remaining strength of the Sanitation Workers was not enough to launch an attack on Solar System Company. And as long as there was a lack of understanding of the zombies, no one believed that a city occupied by about ten thousand zombies was that difficult to conquer.
Information sometimes determines fate.
No matter what the final result, at least right now there is no problem in adopting this stance, and even if the plan fails, there would be no loss—this is the key.
In the battle with the Sanitation Workers, Solar System Company also suffered significant losses. However, compared to the Sanitation Workers whose base had been destroyed, Solar System’s losses were much smaller. Moreover, many of the Sanitation Workers’ defeated troops withdrew to the strongholds of Kodok and Malut, but a considerable number also became prisoners.
Although the remaining numbers of the Sanitation Workers were roughly equal to those of Solar System Company, the differences in other aspects were vast. Morale was low, supplies of weapons and ammunition were greatly affected, and they had lost the most important of the three strongholds, Malakal. If the Sanitation Workers did not take back Malakal, they would lose sooner or later.
Considering various factors, the Sanitation Workers were determined to retake Malakal; based on this alone, Solar System Company could be the fisherman who benefits.
Ram and his father-in-law whispered to each other for a while, then Ram stood up and said loudly, "The troops that suffered heavy losses in the last battle will continue to recuperate; those that suffered less loss will start to assemble and head towards Malakal. This forces the Sanitation Workers to split their forces, ideally forcing them to dispatch at least half their manpower to defend against us, so they can only attack Malakal with fewer hands."
Ram didn’t say what his purpose was with this maneuver, but a good number of people understood his intention once he spoke.
A Shenzhou officer stood up and said loudly, "I think it would be appropriate to dispatch around three thousand soldiers, and a significant portion of the tank armor units as well, forcing the Sanitation Workers to deploy more armored units to stop us from approaching Malakal. Consequently, they will have even fewer tanks to use against the zombies."
All it took was a suggestion, and the rest of it, these professional staff officers or former military chiefs, would immediately fill in the blanks. After all, this was their expertise.
What units, how many men, where to deploy them, how to give the appearance of being determined to win, how to make the act convincing—this was all staff work.
So from now on, Gao Yuan had completed his task and was out of a job, and so was Ram.
After leaving a bunch of officers ardently discussing in the war room, Ram called for Gao Yuan and a few of Satan’s men to quietly leave the operation room.
Once outside, Ram stretched languidly and then said to Gao Yuan, "You’ve worked hard this time. With your experience and suggestions, we’ll avoid many detours and save many lives. Thank you."
Gao Yuan nodded slightly and replied, "You’re welcome, I was just doing my duty."
Ram smiled and said, "Let them handle the big issues; we’ll focus on the more minor ones. What do you think of this sniper cannon?"
"Not bad. The power is definitely there, but it’s too noisy—firing once would draw all the nearby monsters and zombies. So it’s not quite suitable to be used as the old sniper rifles were, but as an augmentation to the infantry’s firepower, I think it’s feasible."
Ram laughed and said, "Who uses it is not important, nor how they use it. What matters is that we now have an infantry weapon that can directly deal with Armored Beasts. We’ll figure out the usage details later. For now, go get some rest. Xinghe is really worried about you."
After finishing, Ram suddenly said, "Oh right, for this mission, you’ll get a hundred Contribution Points. Anyway, you can go shopping, and the person in charge at logistics will issue them to you. I can’t collect them on your behalf, so just buy whatever you want with the money."
The base really had the air of a post-apocalyptic island, even coming up with its own currency. But with the former circulating currency wholly invalidated and supplies becoming the most precious commodity, they couldn’t just hand out supplies as rewards, so a system of Contribution Points or a similar currency was naturally introduced.
Gao Yuan asked with a smile, "What exactly are Contribution Points? A piece of paper, or something tangible? It can’t possibly be bottle caps, can it?"
"How could it be bottle caps? That would be too demeaning."
Ram, laughing, pulled something from his pocket and tossed it to Gao Yuan. Once Gao Yuan caught it, Ram laughed, "It can buy you a Coke—my treat."
Gao Yuan looked at his hand and saw a silver coin in his palm.
Smiling, Gao Yuan said, "Just one Coke? That’s stingy. It should be at least two."
Ram spread his hands and replied, "Really, that’s all I have. These days a life is cheap, and money isn’t even money anymore. The most valuable things are those familiar items people can’t often enjoy anymore and might never get to enjoy again, like cigarettes, alcohol, Coke, coffee. Everything’s expensive now. A soldier might only get one silver coin after a battle. I’m being generous treating you to a Coke."
Gao Yuan laughed and said, "Then with a hundred silver coins, I’ve struck it rich, haven’t I? Alright, thanks Brother Yang, you are too generous."
