The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 483 - 476: Release
Chapter 483: Chapter 476: Release
"Get up here!"
"Up here!"
Gao Yuan only glanced once, listening to the cries from the tower and watching the Armored Beast that hadn’t completely died yet, he ultimately twisted his body and, after a short run-up, hopped back onto the tower.
The rifle that Gao Yang was holding belonged to Rabbit, while his own rifle was currently in Rabbit’s hands.
A 12.7 mm caliber sniper rifle, no wonder its power was so much greater.
After leaning the Barrett against the wall, Gao Yang reached for his own sniper rifle and then said to Gao Yuan, "How about it? Can we hold them off?"
"Binoculars!"
Gao Yuan took the binoculars from Ailin’s hands and had a look through them.
A mass of monsters, none too large in size, scattered about, some running on the ground, but key was that there were also some flying in the air headed this way.
The majority of the monsters seemed to be gathered up, coming toward the tower from several different directions. The monsters varied in speed and distance, but at this moment, they were all converging in the same direction.
Were the Serpent People in control?
Gao Yuan was somewhat puzzled as he looked at the Serpent People’s spaceship, but he couldn’t make out anything; the ship was still hovering in the air with no special movements.
"Close the windows, everyone go to the first floor."
Gao Yuan set down the binoculars, then he slid the Steel Mace into its sheath on his back, and said in a deep voice, "Get downstairs, fast!"
Gao Yang immediately shouted urgently, "Downstairs, do as he says, downstairs!"
Gao Yuan reported the launcher resembling an iron watermelon, and then he led the way, carrying the launcher and moving downstairs in a series of runs and hops.
Putting the launcher on the ground, Gao Yuan placed both hands behind his back, and at the same time reached over to draw his weapons, the knife and mace already in hand.
"Find a way to seal the entrance to the second floor."
As soon as Gao Yuan spoke, people from Satan’s group immediately set to work, no need for Gao Yang to order again.
"It’s hard to say this time. Our summarized experience is that we fear the small ones, not the large; fear those that fly, not those that run. Now many monsters have come, and it’s unclear what they are, but they are certainly very small, very fast, and able to fly."
After speaking calmly and quickly, Gao Yuan took a light breath and said, "Right now, being surrounded by monsters on all sides would spell complete death, so it’s best for you all to stay inside the house, block up all windows and holes, and shut the door."
Gao Yang replied very calmly, "It’s baffling why all the monsters are being attracted here, but given the current situation, do we still have a chance?"
"We still have a chance, there’s still a chance! I will take out all the large creatures. Insects or small aliens won’t have enough strength to break through the house, so you still have a chance for rescue. Have someone carry a lot of Flamethrowers, a well-sealed car. You guys decide for yourselves when to break out, but now is not the time for despair."
After Gao Yuan finished speaking, that’s all he could muster, but he noticed something—the people from Satan were not panicking. They were quite calm, completely without the panic that surfaces when facing dire situations. Moreover, Gao Yang had never given up hope and was still seriously considering how to escape.
Unflustered in the face of trouble, unshaken amidst chaos, Gao Yuan felt that it was no wonder these people from Satan were successful given their mental fortitude.
There was no time for more words, Gao Yuan performed a customary flourish with his knives and said, "I’m off..."
Gao Yuan charged out, and by this time, the foremost monsters were less than thirty meters away from him.
In the distance, nothing but a dense mass could be seen in the sky, and even looking through binoculars wouldn’t give a clear view of the creatures’ appearance, but now, Gao Yuan could see them very clearly.
Those flying in the sky looked like bats. Taking a closer look, when the flying monsters actually got close, Gao Yuan was absolutely certain that the creatures in the sky were bats.
Their appearance had changed but not dramatically; they were just bats, only larger in size and emitting squeaking noises as they flew.
A bat dived towards Gao Yuan, who casually swung his arm, and the bat was smashed into a bloody pulp by the steel mace.
The Serpent People really knew how to collect all the available resources to use as weapons. They had come to Earth and then used Earth’s bats as bio-weapons.
But at this moment, Gao Yuan felt much more relieved for a simple reason: the size of the bats was within his capability to manage. Had the Serpent People released swarms of bugs as small as flies or mosquitoes, he would have truly been in trouble.
The first bat was reduced to mush with a casual swipe by Gao Yuan, but immediately following were at least dozens of bats in a group.
His arms swung, bright flashes of the blade passed, and one by one the bats were split in two and dropped from the sky to the ground.
The bats came in small groups, but Gao Yuan still needed to turn around repeatedly. He had to cut down the bats that approached and attacked him at an arm’s reach distance as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, without Lizhizi, his best audience, Gao Yuan felt his exceptional performance lacked a connoisseur’s appreciation.
The bats alone were not difficult to handle, but Gao Yuan was still waiting for the ground-dwelling creatures to arrive.
With a turn, his long sword sliced open a bat, and then Gao Yuan finally saw clearly what the approaching monsters looked like.
Alien creatures, as big as lions, but hairless, their skin resembled that of crocodiles or lizards.
Their mouths were incredibly large, and they moved at an astonishing speed. Although much smaller than the Armored Beasts, their size was still massive compared to humans.
Gao Yuan swung his sword, the blade passing over the creature’s neck, but an unexpected scene occurred: his sword cut through the creature’s hide, yet not fatally so.
There was no blood coming out of the wound on the creature’s neck, not a single drop of liquid, no matter the color, just a shallow white cut about an inch deep.
The sword strike had not had the desired effect, but Gao Yuan’s right hand was still in the air. His left-hand long sword struck, chopping down the creature on the ground, and the steel mace in his right hand followed with a vicious smash.
With a dull thud, the bizarrely shaped beast instantly lay motionless on the ground, its head sporting a huge dent.
The thick hide of these monsters was not as hard as that of the Armored Beasts but it was very tough. However, whether it was hard or tough, in front of a blunt weapon like the steel mace, the end result was the same.
But these creatures also came in groups, and as Gao Yuan knocked one over, two more followed behind it.
Handling two simultaneously was difficult; he could be bitten. Yet running would mean giving up the doorway.
With bats overhead and lion-like lizard monsters in front, Gao Yuan was in a tight spot, but just then, a gunshot behind him sent one of the lizard monsters that had just leaped into the air plummeting to the ground with a massive hole in its head.
Gao Yuan barely needed to dodge as he avoided the beast that pounced towards him, and, in a fluid motion, crushed its head with his mace, entirely lifting his predicament.
At that moment, Gao Yuan heard someone shout from behind, "You focus on the air, I’ll take care of the ground!"
In that instant, Gao Yuan felt an urge to cry out of excitement.
Because after fighting for a very long time, Gao Yuan finally met someone who could fight in sync with him, at the same rhythm, at the same pace.
Someone who allowed Gao Yuan not to worry about what was behind him, someone who truly enabled him to unleash all his combat strength.
