Chapter 463: Chapter 456 Nothing at All

Command center.

Gao Yang held a pencil, his mind straining to sketch out something that barely resembled a human figure on the paper. Finally, Gao Yang slapped the pencil down on the table and shouted, "Yake! Yake! Come here."

The one-eyed Yake came over. He took only a glance and then seated himself in Gao Yang’s chair, saying indifferently, "You need the statue of the god sketched out, right?""

"Yes."

"Alright."

As they spoke, Yake had already started drawing. With just a few strokes, he outlined the form of the statue, while Xinghe tensely said, "You’ve seen the statue, haven’t you? You need to draw it accurately, especially the face. Have you seen it? You’ve actually seen it with your own eyes, not just heard descriptions, right?"

Yake drew quickly, murmuring, "Yes, I took a peek inside, uh, really just a peek, haha..."

Making a joke about his own physical defect, Yake pushed the draft he’d sketched to the side and said, "There won’t be any mistakes, it’s exactly like this. Oh, the three holes on the face of the statue are for three diamonds. They had already been removed by the boss when I got there, so I’ve never seen what the diamonds looked like on the face. I needed to clarify that."

Xinghe looked to Gao Yang, who spread his hands and said, "Diamonds, huh... Those were huge diamonds. Under the circumstances, uh, I definitely had to... take them. If it were you, you’d have taken them too, right?"

Everyone nodded in agreement. Ailin smiled and said, "Of course, not taking them would be foolish."

But Gao Yang still felt uneasy. He looked at Xinghe and said, "First, you need to figure out if the statue has anything to do with you all. I haven’t sold the diamonds; they’ve been kept safely. Oh my, seeing her reaction, I know I’ve hit the jackpot..."

Xinghe picked up the draft and gazed at the god likeness, her face alight with fervor, eyes shining with the gleam of utmost excitement.

Gao Yang threw up his hands and said to his people, "Tell me, could I be delaying the progress of humanity? Who could have imagined that the statue was related to aliens? Who would’ve thought?"

Gao Yang looked frustrated, but Li Jinfang at his side patted his shoulder, saying, "Don’t worry about it, it’s... it’s... it’s not your fault anyway."

Fly gave Li Jinfang a disgruntled look, then whispered, "Are you guys dense? Don’t forget what Poseidon is up to. If you didn’t seal that cave immediately, it would’ve been Sanitation Worker or the Graycloaks who’d have found the statue first!"

Taking a deep breath, Xinghe murmured, "No, having the statue would’ve been useless to them. The key is the spacecraft, but now I’m certain, that spacecraft has to be near the statue."

Gao Yuan couldn’t help but ask, "Is that statue the likeness of your ancestors? Why does it have three eyes?"

Xinghe replied passionately, "That’s correct, because that’s the design of an earlier space suit, more archaic yet superior, without the circular energy reception antenna. The eye on the forehead is an electronic eye that can detect the environment... Just like your cameras. This design could not be mistaken."

Gao Yang let out a sigh of relief, then grew excited and started to boast.

"Who would have thought that fleeing into a cave to escape enemies would lead to the discovery of alien relics? Ha, just imagine... Plus, I protected the relic until someone who could truly decipher it came along. Hahaha, I’m just too awesome!"

While Gao Yang was gleefully bragging, Xinghe put down the draft Yake had drawn and spoke softly, "This secret must not be spread, not even over the radio. Just take me to that spaceship now, and it will all be over. We’ll no longer need to look for the medical pod because the ship has a better one. The Serpent People will no longer be a threat. In the face of true civilized disparity, neither numbers nor size matter. I can help you deal with the Serpent People before I leave. In short, you are saved, and my goal will be achieved. All we need to do is find that ship!"

After her words, everyone fell silent again. After hesitating for a moment, Gao Yang finally spoke in a low voice, "Well, don’t get too hopeful yet. Let me explain the situation first. Give me the pencil."

Gao Yang took the pencil and drew a dot on a piece of paper, saying, "This is the cave entrance I stumbled upon. Going through it, via a not-so-long lava tube, you’ll enter a vast space, like a hall. That’s where the statue is. Beside this irregular-shaped cave, there’s a large vertical hole that drops down a staggering 97 meters."

After roughly sketching out the terrain, Gao Yang spoke seriously, "So, with such an interesting place, how could we not explore it thoroughly, right? And since it’s our diamond mine, we thought about using it as a base after retirement. So we all went in to take a good look... There’s nothing in that extremely deep vertical hole—it’s remarkably high, but it narrows the further down you go. There are some very, very early human bones at the bottom, animal bones, and some crudely handmade pottery, which we think were thrown in by ancients during sacrifices. But there’s no branching cave below—just like a dry well, absolutely nothing there, at least definitely no spaceship!"

Xinghe frowned and said, "Underground? Even underground, it can’t block the signals from the spaceship. Could it be hidden somewhere else? Are there any other caves nearby?"

"No, we didn’t find any, and we have checked all the entrances to the cave we went through. There’s no place that could hide a spaceship... How big is this ship?"

After some thought, Xinghe said, "It’s slightly smaller than the Serpent People’s small-size ship."

Gao Yang hadn’t seen the Serpent People’s ship and was still confused, but Gao Yuan knew and immediately said, "It’s still big, at least bigger than a Boeing 747."

Upon hearing this, Gao Yang grew even more disappointed. He sighed, "Then it’s impossible for it to be in the cave. No way. The cave is too small to fit such a big ship."

Xinghe nodded and said, "Yes, but I still need to see it for myself. So, when do we leave?"

Gao Yang shrugged and replied, "We can’t leave now. The battle is too intense. Otherwise... Fly, you take the two of them for a trip to that cave. Open it up and take a look inside. We’ll continue fighting here. But you’ll have to be quick. If that cave turns out to have no value worth defending, then we should carry out a strategic retreat."

All of a sudden, Xinghe said, "It’s some of the humans who have colluded with the Serpent People, right? As long as they lose their connection with the Serpent People, they won’t be much of a threat anymore. So, I can help you repel the enemy, and then, I would be able to conduct my research in a relatively calm environment."
