Chapter 438: 431

Gao Yuan couldn’t stay as calm as Klaus, he couldn’t sit down; he couldn’t just sit there and wait.

Xinghe still looked utterly calm and indifferent.

Klaus didn’t know what Spark Squad was carrying, but Gao Yuan did, so he knew that if this place was really to become one of the main battlefields, then he must take Revelation and leave, even if he couldn’t personally take it away, he must have others take it away.

Gao Yuan stepped up to Xinghe’s side and whispered, "Be ready to leave at any time."

Xinghe looked at Gao Yuan with a strange gaze, but she kept looking at him, silent.

Gao Yuan couldn’t help but say, "Why are you looking at me like that, what do you want to say?"

Xinghe said seriously, "Why engage in such a meaningless struggle?"

"It’s not meaningless, it’s very significant."

Xinghe raised her hand and said, "No need to say more, I can’t understand, and to speak again would just be those repeated, meaningless dialogues. I know I shouldn’t have asked."

Gao Yuan silently watched Xinghe as she turned her gaze towards the unseen battlefield.

And then, at that moment, Harry Keen looked towards Gao Yuan, shouting something in a slightly panicked voice. Gao Yuan couldn’t understand everything; however, Xinghe could translate all the dialogue for him.

"He says, boss, the enemy’s coming, lots and lots of tanks, at least dozens of them, our armored vehicles can’t stop them!"

The enemy attacked again, this time without the protection of infantry, but dozens of tanks charged in a very small and dense formation, something that hasn’t been seen since World War II.

Gao Yuan turned to look at the unseen battlefield—not in the distance; he would be able to see the tanks charging in dense formation very soon.

Ah, the great tank battle! A wartime spectacle said to be never seen again.

But Gao Yuan just wanted to know one thing, a great tank battle was a duel between tanks, so the enemy’s tanks were coming, but where were his own tanks?

If only the enemy had tanks, then it wouldn’t be a great tank battle, it would be tanks rolling over infantry.

It was then that Gao Yuan heard a rumbling sound.

The rumbling came from behind him, on one side. Gao Yuan turned his head, and he saw a tank appearing over the top of a small hill, charging forward down the slope at a breakneck pace.

Then two tank barrels, followed by, two tanks appearing.

Then four tanks, six tanks.

In just an instant, the hair on Gao Yuan’s body stood on end, goosebumps covering his entire body.

In that moment, Gao Yuan first laughed inexplicably, and then he couldn’t help but burst into uncontrollable sobs.

"They’re coming! Our tanks are coming!"

Gao Yuan pointed towards the tanks arriving in a wedge formation and shouted at Xinghe, "These are our tanks, kings of terrestrial warfare, mankind’s ultimate land warfare machines!"

The rumble of the tanks grew louder, and the paint on the tanks became clearer. At the very front, a tank sported a tall antenna, and at the top of the antenna was a small red flag.

The tanks deliberately took a detour; they didn’t need to pass by Gao Yuan and the others, but the leading tank still slightly changed direction.

A tanker poked half his body out of the tank, saw Gao Yuan, and even from a great distance, waved at him.

A warm current surged in Gao Yuan’s heart, and so he too raised his hand and waved back frantically.

Members of the Spark Squad threw up their arms and roared loudly.

The tank got closer and closer, and then Gao Yuan finally saw the full silhouette of the tank, a tank he had never seen before.

With its wedge-shaped turret and digital camouflage, it was immediately impressive and high-tech.

The tank rumbled past less than thirty meters from Gao Yuan; as it was about to drive by, the soldier half-emerging from the turret slightly turned his body, gazed at Gao Yuan, smiled with the corner of his mouth raised, and saluted him.

Gao Yuan stood at attention and returned the salute.

The lead tank made a slight detour just to greet Gao Yuan.

There were no words, just an exchange of looks, because words would have been drowned out by the loud noise of the moving tank.

Cao Zhenjiang lay on the ground, trying hard to sit up but failing, so he could only lie there, clenching his fist and shouting as loudly as he could, "Go! Kill them all!"

Cao Zhenjiang’s face was streaked with tears, for in the distant and foreign lands of Africa, seeing a Shenzhou’s Soldier manning a tank, charging forth to meet the enemy, he couldn’t help but be moved.

The soldier who saluted Gao Yuan retracted his arm, climbed back into the tank, and shut the hatch.

And Gao Yuan’s hand remained on his forehead, as did everyone else’s, including Klaus, who had just sat down but now stood up, standing at attention and saluting these soldiers he did not know.

Gao Yuan maintained his salute until the last tank passed.

But as he watched, Gao Yuan noticed something.

The tanks, from a distance, had frightful turrets; up close, they sported five sets of road wheels.

It turned out to be the old Type 59 after all, just an upgraded Type 59. Whether it was a major upgrade or a radically modified version, Gao Yuan couldn’t really tell.

After the last tank passed, there in Gao Yuan’s line of sight, the tank that had just saluted him slowed down a bit and fired its gun directly.

About a thousand meters in front of Gao Yuan and his men, the battle had officially begun, with the lead tank firing first.

There were no shouts, only the roar of engines and the rage of cannons.

Gao Yuan took a deep breath and then said with a trembling voice, "Victory is certain!"

The two sides exchanged fire at a distance of two kilometers, which seemed a bit far for a Type 59 tank, but Gao Yuan felt that since it was our side that fired first, there must be confidence in success.

Gao Yuan immediately shouted to Harry Keen, "How is it!"

To get a direct view of the tank battle scene, one had to look from the vantage point of a drone overhead; at the moment, Harry Keen was trembling with excitement as he yelled, "A hit on the first shot, a hit on the first shot!"

Gao Yuan briskly ran towards Harry Keen, and Klaus also came over; it was Ralph in the distance, who said urgently through the radio, "What’s the situation? Speak up, or do we have to leave our positions and go there to know the battle situation?"

Harry Keen replied over the radio, "A hit on the first shot; the enemy has forty tanks, we have... how many?"

"Don’t talk over the radio; if our communications are being monitored by the enemy, we are just informing them."

Ralph interrupted Harry Keen on the radio, and of course, Harry Keen wouldn’t discuss these matters over the radio.

Harry looked at Gao Yuan and asked, "How many tanks did we have going over just now? I didn’t count! How many?"

"Sixty-four!"

Finally, the tactical situation had reversed; it was no longer the enemy who had the advantage.
