The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 342 - 335: God of Guns Ram
Chapter 342: Chapter 335: God of Guns Ram
Outside, they wore military-green combat suits with the fronts open, revealing sailor shirts underneath, but the guns in their hands were quite new, actually the AK12s that Russia had just equipped before the apocalypse.
Another was dressed in a sleeveless sailor shirt, with thick and strong arms, a green beret on his head, two belts of ammunition crossed over his chest, and a machine gun slung casually over his shoulder.
These two were clearly Russians, but the remaining five individuals had the typical facial features of local Middle Easterners, distinguishable from the two in sailor shirts.
Renato spoke a mouthful of gibberish with a thick tongue, and the one holding the AK12 responded in kind.
Gao Yuan couldn’t understand a word, but Li Yang let out a breath and said, "Russian, it means hello."
"You understand it?"
"I can understand but can’t speak it, damn it, I just can’t get that thick trilled R, that’s why I gave up on learning Russian."
Li Yang’s face twisted in agony before he exclaimed with a mix of pain and anger, "As a person from Lingnan, my Mandarin pronunciation is standard enough, right? But trying to learn their trilled R, might as well kill me."
"There are languages you can’t learn too!"
Gao Yuan suddenly felt a sense of balance, but then he thought about it; for people like Li Yang, they use English almost like a second mother tongue, and then they learn other minor languages as foreign languages. If someone doesn’t know three or five foreign languages, they’d be embarrassed to say they know foreign languages. He, on the other hand, was still unclear in his English pronunciation.
However, Renato had already struck up a conversation with the two Russians, and, surprisingly, they quickly embraced each other.
After a moment, Renato gestured towards Gao Yuan and said something, then the Russian with the AK12 said something to Gao Yuan.
Of course, it was still unintelligible.
"Is he saying you are a Shenzhou person?"
Gao Yuan nodded then said aloud, "Hello."
The Russian reached out his hand and strode towards Gao Yuan, coming right up to shake hands. Out of all the words he said, Gao Yuan only understood "hala shao."
Renato smiled and translated, "He says it’s great to meet Shenzhou people here and hopes that the recent explosion didn’t frighten you."
The situation was quite confusing.
Gao Yuan was still shaking hands with the Russian, saying, "What’s going on, where are we, who are these people?"
After Renato translated Gao Yuan’s words, he quickly explained, "We are in Damascus, they are Russians, conducting routine patrols with the Israeli forces. This area often suffers attacks by the anti-Government armed forces, and then, he asked if you have any cigarettes."
Gao Yuan immediately turned and shouted to Li Jingang, who was holding the machine gun, "Get Doggie to bring over a pack of cigarettes!"
Li Jingang relayed the message, and Yu Shunzhou soon emerged from the armored vehicle, clutching an unopened pack of cigarettes and scampering over.
Gao Yuan took the cigarettes from Yu Shunzhou and handed them to the Russian in front of him. Upon receiving the cigarettes, the Russian eagerly tore open the packaging and began distributing them to his comrades.
Each of the seven men took one, then the Russian wearing the green hat set his machine gun on the ground, took out a lighter from his pocket, and started lighting the cigarettes for everyone.
After lighting his cigarette, the Russian with the AK12 took a deep drag, then with half-closed eyes and a face of pure bliss, he said something.
"That’s great, he said it’s great, thank you for the cigarettes. It’s been a very long time since he had any to smoke," relayed Renato.
Afterward, the Russian with the cigarettes in his mouth took a strong draw, then rested the cigarette in his mouth, gestured with his gun towards the back, raised his left arm, and pulled back his sleeve with his right hand, revealing two watches on his wrist.
"He’s asking which one you like," said Renato.
The Russian asked a question, and Renato translated, but before the dumbfounded Gao Yuan could respond, the Russian soldier immediately removed the outermost watch and took it off.
"He says it’s a gift for you."
Gao Yuan didn’t reach out, and the Russian directly grabbed Gao Yuan’s hand, pulled him up, placed the watch on Gao Yuan’s hand, and spoke again.
"He says it’s a gift for you, a thank you for your cigarettes."
The watch was a Rolex, gold, heavy enough to weigh down the hand.
Gao Yuan glanced at the watch; he had never worn such a decent watch before.
"Uh, thank you..."
The Russian spoke again, and Renato laughed, "He says no need to thank him, he took this watch off the wrist of a high-ranking SS officer, definitely very valuable, but now it’s only worth a box of cigarettes."
Yu Shunzhou was dumbstruck watching from the side, he couldn’t help but say, "This works?"
Taking another deep drag, the Russian removed the cigarette from his lips, tapped the ash, and muttered something to Renato, who then looked at Gao Yuan and said, "He’s asking where we’re from, why we’re here, and what we’re doing."
Gao Yuan made a ’please’ gesture, "Go ahead and tell him, uh, tell our real purpose, just say we’re going to fight the aliens."
After Renato spoke, the Russian appeared quite surprised, and the one wearing a green hat was even more bewildered; as for the others from Israel, they were just as clueless as Gao Yuan.
Gao Yuan said to Renato, "Ask them why they attacked us."
After Renato asked, the Russian rambled on for a while, then Renato spread his hands to Gao Yuan, "They’re guarding the only granary nearby! Those rebels, they have been trying to get to the granary or burn it down, so they laid an ambush here today, hoping to take out those rebels."
Along the way, Gao Yuan and his group hadn’t encountered any formidable opponents, but now, they had.
"Ask them how many people they have, can you find out?"
Gao Yuan didn’t have much hope that Renato would get the real information, but to his surprise, Renato asked, and the Russian actually gave an answer.
"He says there are over three thousand one hundred troops here, the rebels are fewer in number, having filtered through the border, but the rebels have received support from turkeys, and now they have about a thousand people."
First puzzled, Gao Yuan then felt surprised, and finally, he said to Renato, "This should be a secret, why would he tell you?"
Renato smiled confidently, "You may find it strange, but what I’m about to say is that they’re friends with my boss, which means, right now, my relationship with these Russians is closer than with you all, especially those Americans."
"Friends with your boss?"
Just then, the Russian threw the cigarette butt that had burned down to the filter onto the ground, stepped on it and twisted his foot a couple of times, then spoke to Renato again.
Before Renato could translate, Li Yang whispered, "He asked, ’How is Gun God Ram doing?’"
Gao Yuan asked in confusion, "Ram, the Gun God Ram?"
Renato finished talking to the Russian with a smile, then turned to Gao Yuan, "Ram, Gun God Ram, he’s my boss."
Gao Yuan couldn’t help but say, "There’s really someone who dares to call himself Gun God?"
Renato just shrugged, while Li Yang scratched his head and then said very seriously, "If anyone really deserves to be called Gun God, it would be Ram, I guess."
