The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse
Chapter 326 - 319 Someone Is Coming

Chapter 326: Chapter 319 Someone Is Coming

While Shenzhou was conducting a secret experiment related to the fate of humanity, Spark Squad had the happiest week since the apocalypse.

Why was it happy?

Because here you could show off, indulge in vanity from all angles without dead corners, bask in the worshipful gazes of others, and enjoy exotic flavors.

You know what I mean.

For people like Panxin, even at the apocalyptic end, they still adhered to the duties of a Shenzhou’s Soldier; there were things they simply could not do, things that meant death if done.

But under the leadership of their Captain Gao Yuan, the members of Spark Squad could partake in unrestrained revelry.

So the Spark Squad was really joyful, except for Gao Yuan.

It was because Gao Yuan had the desire and the guts, but not the opportunity.

Gao Yuan wasn’t alone though, as he had the company of Liu Deguang and Nie Erlong.

Liu Deguang was sidelined due to a serious injury, as for Nie Erlong, well, it was purely because he was ugly, mute, and had an injured leg.

But even now, although Nie Erlong was able to walk around with the aid of crutches, he still had no chance of having female disciples, to study English at night.

So Nie Erlong’s loneliness was primarily because he was ugly, mute, and also had no martial arts skills.

Even Wang Ning could find someone to talk about life with at night.

Wang Ning knew English and was quite good, so he didn’t need to learn it and could directly go into deep discussions about life.

So this world was really fair, but then again, the problem wasn’t the scarcity but the uneven distribution; if everyone’s holding back it’s fine, but when others are enjoying night after night of revelry while you’re left alone, that’s when things can go wrong.

That’s why Gao Yuan would take Nie Erlong aside now and then to talk about life, talk about dreams, just to prevent him from having dark thoughts.

"What is it? Got rejected again?"

Nie Erlong nodded, he turned his face away, releasing a sigh of resignation towards life.

"I just can’t be bothered to look, who wants to be like them, each one so cheap."

Gao Yuan laughed, "Admit it, you’re just ugly. Being ugly would be fine, but your mouth is also dumb, and worse, you don’t speak English."

Nie Erlong looked at Gao Yuan and murmured, "I should just kill you!"

"Come on, I’m right here; I won’t run. If you can touch me with one finger, you win, and I’ll do anything you want. So come at me."

Nie Erlong looked at Gao Yuan gravely, "Now I know why Yu Shunzhou always calls you ’Cheapo Gao’; I didn’t understand before, but now I do. You really are cheap!"

Gao Yuan just smiled, "Really? No way."

Nie Erlong looked at Gao Yuan with disdain, "You say that about me, but what about you? You come here every day to provoke me because you can’t provoke anyone else. Everyone else is busy. Aside from finding me, you can’t even speak a dirty word; what’s there for you to be happy about?"

Gao Yuan’s smile vanished quickly.

Nie Erlong sneered, "Come on, let’s hurt each other!"

"Talking to you is so boring!"

Gao Yuan swiftly got up and walked away, with Nie Erlong yelling from behind, "Don’t go, let’s study English, Bitch! Fuck You!"

Gao Yuan turned around, angry, "Fuck You too!"

Having had his weakness exposed and his sore spot found, teasing Nie Erlong about life wasn’t fun anymore.

Gao Yuan felt gloomy; he couldn’t really draw a sense of superiority from Liu Deguang, who was seriously injured, as that would just be too shameless.

Just then, the radio finally crackled to life.

"Captain, the colonel said they’ve completed all the preparations, and we can leave at any time, but this requires you to communicate with Atiq first,"

Gao Yuan replied listlessly, "Understood, I’ll go talk to him."

It’s really boring, might as well leave this godforsaken place soon.

Gao Yuan definitely didn’t envy them; he just wanted to finish the mission as soon as possible. Really, that was all.

Otherwise, why not head to Kandahar’s city center to search for some urgently needed items?

Even though Kandahar city was small and dilapidated, and he knew it had been ravaged by years of war, leaving supplies scarce without liquor, perhaps some cigarettes, but surely he could scrounge up something, right?

Once this thought surfaced, it was hard to suppress it. Although he knew Li Yang wouldn’t agree, Gao Yuan thought that if he reasoned firmly, he might be able to persuade Li Yang.

Gao Yuan saw Xinghe, who was gesturing for him to come over.

"Where did you go? Squad Leader Cao made some meat pies, they’re really good, and I brought two for you,"

Looking at Xinghe’s greasy lips, Gao Yuan forced a smile and said, "I went to visit and comfort Er Long. Now I’m going to find Li Yang, he’s looking for me."

Xinghe waved him off with an air of loyalty and said, "Go ahead, come back early, don’t worry about me."

Worry, what’s there to worry about...

Holding two meat pies, Gao Yuan bit into them, one on top of the other. Hmm, beef filling, fried until crispy on the outside and tender inside, quite tasty. Too bad there were only two; just enough to whet Gao Yuan’s appetite, but not enough to fill him up.

What’s the point of living like this?

Gao Yuan sighed, and just then, he saw Andrew and Li Yang coming out at a brisk pace.

They weren’t far apart to begin with, just moving from the residential to the office area, but why were Andrew and Li Yang running out?

Li Yang shouted to Gao Yuan from a distance.

"Someone’s coming!"

Gao Yuan paused for a moment, he wiped his greasy hands and then followed Li Yang and Andrew on foot.

"Who’s coming?"

Li Yang said, "Someone from Kabul Base is here! They’ve just arrived outside, just contacted us by radio."

Gao Yuan’s heart skipped a beat and he asked, "How many people?"

"Don’t know, they didn’t say!"

People from Kabul Base were coming; why were Andrew and Li Yang excited?

They definitely had reason to be excited, since they could learn a lot of information about the outside world, but this was very meaningful for Andrew and not so much for Gao Yuan and his team.

But Andrew was so excited, Li Yang had to show his excitement too. However, Gao Yuan quickly lost interest. Even if there were female soldiers among the newcomers, it would be of no benefit to him.

Andrew called out a few times on the walkie-talkie, then his face was full of astonishment, uttering several sentences in a row.

Gao Yuan asked, "What’s he saying?"

Li Yang looked at Gao Yuan with a baffled face and said, "The people are already inside, two vehicles, four people, flying the Italian flag, all Italians, just four of them!"

Gao Yuan thought for a moment and said, "Impossible, right? It’s hundreds of kilometers from here to Kabul, with zombies all over and the Rebel Army marauders ever-present, how could just four of them make it here?"

Li Yang glanced at Andrew and said, "That’s the thing, he’s wondering that too. If it were the whole force, it could be possible, but Kabul Base clearly said they wouldn’t leave the base. So how come there are a few Italians suddenly here? Andrew suspects this might be a conspiracy."

Saying they wouldn’t come, refusing to flee together from Afghan, yet a week had passed and four Italians from Kabul Air Base appear. This doesn’t add up.

Gao Yuan now also felt that there might indeed be a conspiracy afoot.
