The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse
Chapter 308 - 301: Deal

Chapter 308: Chapter 301: Deal

As a man, how could Gao Yuan not like guns? He did more than just like them, he was extremely passionate about them.

It’s just that there wasn’t much use for guns in daily combat, so Gao Yuan didn’t carry one around all the time like other people, but that wasn’t his preference.

Given the chance, Gao Yuan would have collected all his favorite guns, both rifles and pistols, all the famous guns of the world.

And this was a good opportunity, as here one could essentially sweep clean all the firearms revered by military enthusiasts.

The Americans had rifles like the HK416 and HK417; one could also see SCAR-L and SCAR-H, the latest HK433 recently adopted by the Germans, and the M4s still in use by Americans.

Even the L85A2, this peerless divine firearm, was present. Seeing that English soldier carrying the L85A2, Gao Yuan truly wondered whether this base was actually particularly well-stocked with weapons, otherwise, why wouldn’t that English soldier swap his gun for another?

Here, there were more HK417s than 416s, and more SCAR-Hs than SCAR-Ls, because the 7.62 NATO round was more suitable for the battlefield environment here.

Thus, Gao Yuan felt his vision blur with desire, truly wanting to get his hands on each one, as these were all guns he had once dreamed of possessing.

Unfortunately, carrying too many guns would only be a burden and serve no purpose, so even if Gao Yuan had the chance, he couldn’t actually take one of each.

However, it was always possible to enjoy himself here.

While Gao Yuan was pondering this, there were even more people wanting to try out the Type 81 rifle.

But playing with guns was something to be put off for later; there were more important things at hand now.

The soldiers’ cafeteria had turned into a temporary marketplace, and Gao Yuan along with his group, were brought to a dining table, where Yu Shunzhou placed his BOB pack on top of it.

He carefully took out a Faraday cage, then from the cage he pulled out an external hard drive, and as Yu Shunzhou did all this, people around looked on with a sense of reverence.

When Yu Shunzhou turned on the tablet, that sprout-like German uttered a moan-like cheer.

"Oh yeah... fantastic!"

The sprout clenched his fists, took a deep breath, and then whispered, "This marvelous startup screen..."

Just then, Yu Shunzhou took another box out of his pack and placed it on the table. This time, it wasn’t an electronic device he removed, but rather a pipe wrapped in a velvet pouch.

Yu Shunzhou then took out another velvet pouch, opened it to reveal a bag of tobacco sealed in a Ziploc bag.

Upon seeing the pipe, someone among the onlookers let out an exclamation of surprise.

But it wasn’t over yet, as Yu Shunzhou once again took a bottle out of the pouch.

A mineral water bottle, but instead of water, it contained white liquor.

The end still wasn’t in sight, as Yu Shunzhou took out yet another plastic sealed box. This time he needn’t open it since the box was transparent, and it contained tea leaves.

Do you know what the most precious hard currency is in the apocalypse? It’s not gold or silver, and definitely not money, but rather daily consumables like tobacco, alcohol, and tea that are addictive. In areas accustomed to drinking coffee, simply substituting tea leaves with coffee would suffice.

The scarcer the resources in the apocalypse, the more precious these once easily enjoyed but now hard-to-find items become as hard currency, which can be exchanged for anything.

Yu Shunzhou laid out all the items he was willing to trade on the table. He looked at Gao Yuan, then smiled and spoke loudly, "I’ll only trade for food, not just any food, but compressed biscuits, field rations, chocolate, or high-calorie foods like Energy Bars."

Li Jingang stood to the side and loudly translated Yu Shunzhou’s words.

Gao Yuan said from the sidelines, "Hey, even the stuff in the escape bag is being brought out to trade."

Yu Shunzhou looked at Gao Yuan and said, "Opportunities like this are rare, better to trade for the most urgently needed items first."

Right now, Gao Yuan urgently needed high-calorie food, and indeed his bob bag wasn’t very useful to him anymore.

Gao Yuan was also somewhat tempted; he felt he could take out the tobacco and alcohol from his bag to trade.

Yu Shunzhou lifted a bottle of mineral water and shouted, "This here is liquor! Shenzhou white liquor, high-proof white liquor. Anyone want to trade? Just ten combat rations, anyone interested?"

No one responded. Li Jingang translated Yu Shunzhou’s words, but no one around wanted to trade with Yu Shunzhou, and so the joyful and excited atmosphere experienced an awkward silence for the first time.

Just then, the bean sprout said a few words, and Li Jingang translated, "He says they can brew their own whiskey here, so to trade with liquor, your asking price is too high."

Yu Shunzhou immediately put down the mineral water bottle. He filled a pipe with tobacco but didn’t smoke it; instead, he held the pipe up and shouted, "Pipe, anyone want to trade?"

"I will, I will!"

An American soldier pushed through the crowd, shouting, "What material is this made of?"

"European boxwood, definitely the best material."

Yu Shunzhou perked up. Holding the Pipe, he asked the American soldier, "What do you have?"

The American soldier looked at the Pipe in Yu Shunzhou’s hand and then hesitated before saying, "I don’t have combat rations; I would need to request those from my superior. The only valuable thing I have to trade is..."

After a pause, the soldier pulled a pistol from his waist and placed it on the table.

"I have an M1911; this isn’t a standard-issue pistol, it’s personally purchased. Are you interested?"

A pistol, huh? Yu Shunzhou really wasn’t too interested, not because he didn’t like guns, but because guns were too common around here.

As Yu Shunzhou hesitated, the soldier whispered, "I also have some unmentionable leaves, want to trade?"

Li Jingang translated the soldier’s words and then looked at Yu Shunzhou, saying, "Don’t take the leaves! Absolutely not."

Yu Shunzhou shook his head. As he pondered, the soldier spoke up again, "I can trade the pistol, some leaves, and I also have a roll of toilet paper. Trade for one Pipe and all your tobacco leaves, agree?"

Yu Shunzhou kept shaking his head, but at that moment, Gao Yuan said, "A 1911, huh? Trade it for me..."

Yu Shunzhou glanced at Gao Yuan, and then he immediately said, "Half the tobacco leaves! And you have to throw in your HK417, agree?"

The soldier hardly hesitated before saying, "Deal!"

Yu Shunzhou began pulling tobacco leaves out of his bag, and the soldier started to unbuckle his underarm gun holster, when suddenly someone shouted, "Who allowed you to trade privately? Sergeant! I order you to take back your weapon."

An officer walked into the mess hall wearing a uniform from the American Air Force. The Army Sergeant about to trade looked over at the Air Force Captain who had just entered and immediately curled his lip before saying, without a hint of politeness, "Fuck you! Get lost!"
