The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 265 - 260: Burning the Camps in Succession
Chapter 265: Chapter 260: Burning the Camps in Succession
The enemy poured out en masse, whether they were artillery, infantry, or some other branch. As more and more soldiers tried to locate the enemy and open fire with their rifles, the situation was certain to become very dangerous.
No matter how formidable a person is, after being targeted and sprayed with bullets by dozens of rifles, they’re done for.
So what to do? The only method was to further scatter the enemy, preventing them from assembling and reacting, from having the chance to think clearly.
Ideally, they wouldn’t even have the courage to raise their guns and shoot.
How could one completely strip the enemy of their remaining courage? The only way was to exploit the fear deep within their hearts.
Gao Yuan exhausted all his strength to roar, "Kill!"
Taking two steps back, Gao Yuan suddenly leaped onto the rooftop. He ran in the direction of the command center as he remembered it, then jumped from that rooftop to another. Now, he could see the scene that needed to be seen.
A disheveled middle-aged man ran out of a house, a few armed soldiers surrounded him as they quickly exited the yard, meeting with a squad of about twenty elites before running down the narrow alleyway.
This had to be a high-ranking official, no, this had to be a Sanitation Worker, because he wasn’t wearing a military uniform, and he was a white man.
Gao Yuan’s view was quickly blocked, so he said through the walkie-talkie, "The Sanitation Worker’s commander is fleeing, chase him down! Kill him!"
This was the command center, and moreover, the command center of a major frontline force in an important battle. By the number of troops, there should be about a division on this battlefield, but in terms of rank, it was a major battle between a nation and a secret organization.
Therefore, the number of people in this command center couldn’t be small, nor could the number of Guard Troops be inadequate.
Gao Yuan was astonished to find that more than one person was fleeing.
High-ranking military officers and even generals would be protected, and so would the Sanitation Workers, but now, with the situation unclear, one officer after another ran out of the houses, and squads of soldiers crowded out.
Gao Yuan was dumbfounded.
He had sneaked past the guards, hoping to steal some fish from a pond, only to find upon reaching the edge that it was actually the ocean.
Immediately, Gao Yuan threw out his last grenade.
"Either we scatter the enemy, or we are all doomed. Break through their defenses! You go into the second alley in front! It’s full of enemies!"
After hurriedly finishing over the walkie-talkie, Gao Yuan recalled something else and urgently added, "Estimated enemy numbers are no less than three hundred, heading north. If the enemy stabilizes and turns back to pursue us, we’re finished!"
"Understood!"
Panxin uttered a word, then said sternly, "Press on in the chaos, not giving the enemy time to assemble. Go!"
Gao Yuan feared there would be casualties. The enemy now had too many people, and they had completed their initial assembly. It wouldn’t be easy for just the six of them to break through the enemy’s lines again.
Stay calm, think of a solution, think of a way to cause confusion among the enemy.
Gao Yuan quickly pulled out a flag from his upper garment’s pocket, then jumped down from the roof. He cut off a branch from a tree in the courtyard below and cleaned it quickly with his knife. He slipped the flag onto the branch.
Decades ago, a war had not only humiliated the Indians but also left them with a deep psychological scar. Controlled by the Sanitation Workers, the Indians were unable to shake off this trauma.
It appeared as though, over the years, the Sanitation Workers had been eager to fight another war, to redeem themselves from their former disgrace. When interrogating Abina, he had made this desire abundantly clear.
Gao Yuan decided to indulge the Sanitation Worker’s wish since they were keen on avenging their past shame; he’d give them that chance.
Flagpole in hand, Gao Yuan once again leaped onto the rooftop and, holding the flag high, he rapidly jumped forward.
Gao Yuan stopped again, then unfurled the flag as he stood on the rooftop.
Before Gao Yuan had even displayed the flag, Panxin and the other four had finally arrived at the mouth of the alley.
"Follow my lead!"
Gao Yuan shouted from the rooftop. He shouted to Panxin and the others below, who were taking cover behind courtyard walls without having confronted the enemy yet.
The enemy was plentiful all around them, and Panxin and his group kept firing back at the enemies from all sides. The soldiers stationed around the town hadn’t yet posed a significant threat, but once they entered the alley, they would face hundreds of already assembled enemies who were fleeing northward.
In a narrow alley, a few people exchanging fire face-to-face with hundreds was an impossible fight.
Gao Yuan unfolded the flag, then he abruptly stood and waved the banner of the Da Hong Third Company through the air while roaring, "Kill! Kill them all!"
Two flares were slowly descending from the sky, and the sight of Gao Yuan waving the red flag on the rooftop was seen by many.
Then, as if by magic, the town—previously filled with non-stop sounds of gunfire—fell into a sudden silence.
After a brief moment, gunshots rang out once more, and the panicked cries of the enemy began to howl.
The enemy had been retreating in order; retreating did not necessarily mean defeat. A brief withdrawal was to gather strength for a better counterattack, but as Gao Yuan waved his flag on the rooftop, the orderly retreating troops were instantly thrown into hysterical panic.
