Chapter 94: The Path of the Strong – Into the Anomaly

Ten days had passed since Chen Yu’s team had entered the time barrier at the mansion. But inside that isolated dimension, they had endured over two and a half years of ceaseless training. Under Hui’s brutal drills and Chen Yu’s personal guidance, they pushed themselves beyond their limits, learning to fight as a unit and sharpening their unique abilities.

As dawn broke outside the barrier, the mansion’s training ground shuddered as the time field collapsed. Each warrior emerged stronger, their eyes shining with confidence—and an eagerness to prove themselves in real combat.

Chen Yu’s eyes swept over his team, a spark of pride igniting in his chest. They were ready.

"You’ve come far," he said, voice resonating across the courtyard. "But training here is not enough. Real growth comes through facing death—through battle against enemies who want to rip you apart."

He extended his hand; a shimmering portal crackled into existence. "Team One—you’ll take the first anomaly zone. There, you’ll fight together for ten days. I’ve set another time barrier so one day outside equals three months inside."

Hui smirked, twirling her silver hair. "I’ll make sure they don’t die."

"You’d better," Chen Yu replied. "Team Two is me—alone. I’ll clear the second anomaly zone."

First Anomaly Zone – Team One’s Battle

As Team One stepped through the portal, they emerged into a dense forest of towering blackwood trees, their trunks wider than houses. The air was heavy, almost suffocating, with a constant hum of monstrous life. The forest floor trembled as massive wolf-lizard hybrids prowled, red eyes glinting in the shadows.

Meiyun’s dragon aura crackled around her. "Spread out but stay within sight! We don’t know how these monsters adapt."

A pack of eight wolf-lizards charged from the mist. Roman stepped forward, shield raised. "Form up!"

As the first monster leapt, he smashed it from the air with a shield bash that sent shockwaves rippling through the ground. Ruxue followed with a wave of searing flame that incinerated two more creatures, their shrieks echoing into the canopy.

Ling Ling raised her staff, black light swirling as skeleton warriors clawed their way out of the earth, intercepting monsters with gnashing jaws. "Don’t falter!" she shouted, her eyes glowing.

Chaewon stood behind Roman, channeling shimmering shields around the team. "Keep the line! I’ll cover you!" she called, her voice calm but urgent.

Nyzelia blurred across the battlefield, her twin daggers dancing with lethal precision. She cut down two wolf-lizards in quick succession, leaving only shadows in her wake.

Vornark bellowed, leaping from the treetops with devastating force, claws tearing through armored scales. The forest shook with each of his attacks.

Meiyun roared, slamming the ground with a draconic punch that sent shockwaves through the earth, toppling three more creatures.

For hours, the battle raged—Team One moving as a single organism, growing sharper with every kill. They learned each other’s rhythms, discovered how to combine their powers, and began to anticipate one another’s moves with perfect synergy.

Second Anomaly Zone – Chen Yu’s Lone Trial

Meanwhile, Chen Yu stepped into the second anomaly zone, a realm where crimson skies bled into a wasteland of shattered black stone. The air stank of sulfur, and titanic monsters roamed freely.

A three-headed shadow hydra lunged at him from the darkness, acid drooling from its fangs. Chen Yu leapt high, summoning a spear of law energy and driving it through the hydra’s middle head. The beast screamed as he twisted, evading a stream of acid from the left head and dodging a swipe of obsidian claws from the right.

Chen Yu moved like a blur, each step a flash of teleportation. He cut one head clean off, then shattered the last with a burst of chaotic void energy. The hydra’s body collapsed into the cracked earth.

He barely had time to breathe before a titanic armored behemoth stomped forward, carrying a warhammer the size of a castle gate. Chen Yu darted between its legs, slashing tendons and leaping onto its back, hacking into the monster’s armored plates.

"Come on!" Chen Yu roared, his aura flaring. His power surged with every kill—like steel tempered in fire.

Team One’s Conversations and Struggles

In the forest, the team caught a brief lull in the fighting. Roman leaned on his sword, sweat streaming down his face. "We need to find their nest. This is endless."

Ling Ling wiped blood from her cheek, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "We’re not dying here."

Nyzelia perched in a tree above them, panting softly. "You’ve all improved," she admitted, voice begrudging. "I didn’t expect it."

Meiyun grinned fiercely. "That’s because we have something worth fighting for now."

Vornark stomped over, holding the severed head of a wolf-lizard in his claws. "I haven’t felt this alive in years."

Chaewon stepped forward, placing her glowing hands on Roman’s shoulder, knitting his wounds with holy light. "We’re stronger together. Let’s end this."

Ruxue’s flames burned in her hands. "Then let’s burn their hive to ash."

Chen Yu – An Endless Gauntlet

Back in the second zone, Chen Yu battled monsters that grew more terrifying with every wave—lava serpents, obsidian golems, winged nightmares. Each enemy required him to push deeper into his well of power, combining chaos, void, and law energies in new ways.

He felt his mind sharpen with each fight—instinct and calculation merging. He was no longer fighting to survive, but to master himself.

His eyes glowed with resolve as he stood atop a mountain of fallen beasts. "I will reach beyond R rank," he whispered to himself. "No matter the cost."

Team One’s Climactic Battle

Deep in the forest, the team finally found the heart of the monster nest: a cavern thrumming with dark energy. From its depths, a queen wolf-lizard emerged—massive, armored in scales like black iron, with eyes burning red as hellfire.

Meiyun roared, wings of draconic energy unfurling behind her as she launched herself forward. The queen swung a spiked tail, but Roman intercepted it, shield glowing with holy light as he blocked the strike.

Ruxue unleashed a storm of fireballs, each exploding with concussive force. Ling Ling’s undead minions swarmed the queen’s legs, slowing it down. Chaewon threw up barriers to shield Vornark, who smashed the queen’s head-on with earth-shaking blows.

Nyzelia blurred through shadows, carving deep wounds into the monster’s underbelly.

As the queen staggered, Meiyun landed a final, devastating punch infused with draconic power. The queen’s head snapped back, its body crumpling with a thunderous crash.

The team stood together, breathing heavily but victorious.

A Brief Respite

As the forest fell silent, Ruxue leaned against a boulder, flames dying down around her hands. "This... this is what we trained for," she said softly.

Chaewon nodded, smiling despite exhaustion. "We’ve grown stronger."

Hui appeared, arms crossed, smirking. "Not bad for mortals."

They rested only briefly before more monsters stirred in the shadows—ten more days of fighting awaited.

Chen Yu’s Determination

In the second anomaly zone, Chen Yu sat atop a mountain, meditating as lightning storms raged overhead. His wounds knit slowly, his mana replenishing as he reflected on the countless enemies he had slain.

"Everyone... keep surviving," he murmured. "We have a world to protect. And I will carry you to the top."

His eyes snapped open, gleaming with renewed determination as monstrous roars echoed in the distance.

The storm had only just begun.

Chen Yu rose from his meditation, the winds howling around him like a chorus of furious spirits. He glanced toward the horizon, eyes steeled with purpose. "This world has only seen the surface of our strength," he whispered to the storm. "We’ll shatter every limit—together. And when we ascend, even the heavens will know our names."

Just as Chen Yu finished speaking, the ground beneath them split with a deafening crack. A colossal figure emerged from the darkness—an obsidian-scaled behemoth with six burning crimson eyes and claws like black scythes. The air turned acrid with its breath, and with a roar that shook the anomaly zone, it lunged straight at Chen Yu. He tried to raise his guard, but the creature’s monstrous fist slammed into him like a meteor, sending him hurtling through shattered trees. The world blurred. His team screamed his name as the beast’s eyes gleamed hungrily—then everything went black.
