Chapter 52: PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

Roman followed Chen Yu into the training hall, still trying to digest everything he had witnessed. The clash of strength, the overwhelming presence of the girls sparring before him, and the aura of mystery Chen carried—everything weighed heavily on his mind.

He turned to Chen Yu, frowning slightly.

"You have such powerful allies," Roman said, voice laced with both awe and curiosity. "And you managed to keep yourself hidden until now... It’s only been a month since the challenges began. How the hell are you already this strong?"

He paused, eyes searching Chen’s.

"And... I want to know something," he said quietly. "If you really trust me, then tell me—what’s your rank? If you won’t share your class, at least give me that much."

Chen Yu stopped walking. He turned slowly to face Roman, his expression unreadable.

He gazed at the young man for a few seconds, then let out a light chuckle.

"You’re as curious as ever," Chen said, voice softening.

A flicker of memory crossed his mind—Roman from his past life. He had only met him once, but even back then, the guy was the same—full of questions, always seeking answers.

Chen sighed.

"Alright," he said. "Since you’ve joined me, I’ll give you some clarity."

He raised his hand and pointed to himself.

"My current rank... is S-rank."

Roman’s eyes widened in shock.

Chen then motioned toward Hui, who had now turned to observe them quietly, arms still folded.

"As for her—Hui isn’t human. She’s a Demon Queen, still in her infant stage, but her rank is already SR-rank."

Roman swallowed hard. SR-rank? Infant?

Chen wasn’t done.

"That guy over there," he added, glancing toward the massive spiritual beast lounging in the shadows of the arena, "is Vornark. A lightning-type spiritual beast—also around S-rank."

Roman felt like the ground beneath him had shifted.

"And before you ask," Chen said with a knowing look, "no, I won’t tell you how I met them. That’s something for another time."

He stepped closer now, his voice lowering.

"As for my class... it’s a hidden class. One that only I possess."

He met Roman’s gaze squarely.

"It’s called Lawrenderer."

Roman blinked. "Lawrenderer...?"

Chen nodded. "Yes. With it, I can manipulate laws—the very rules that govern this world. Gravity, time, energy, reality... you name it."

A pause. A faint smirk.

"If I had used my class powers during our fight, Roman—you wouldn’t have lasted a single second."

Silence.

Roman stared at him, stunned into speechlessness. His thoughts swirled with disbelief, wonder, and a growing sense of conviction.

Is he telling the truth? he wondered. I don’t know. But... he’s not normal. That much is clear.

The strength he had shown, the allies he had gathered, the way he carried himself with quiet dominance—it all pointed to one thing.

He’s the real deal.

And Roman knew one thing for certain: if he stayed with this man, he’d get opportunities no one else could offer. He’d grow faster—stronger than ever before.

Roman clenched his fist and nodded silently.

He had made his decision.

Roman took a deep breath, still processing everything Chen Yu had revealed.

"Alright," he finally said. "I’ll join you. But... I need to ask—why me?"

He looked at Chen seriously.

"There must be others out there... stronger, more experienced. So why choose someone like me? And about that ’boundary’ you mentioned earlier... is it really going to disappear? Are we really going to be forced to live alongside demons and spiritual beasts?"

Chen Yu glanced at him for a moment, then let out a light sigh, his gaze shifting toward the high ceiling of the underground chamber.

"You sure have a lot of questions," he said.

Then he looked back at Roman, eyes firm.

"But I’ll answer them."

He stepped forward, his voice calm yet commanding.

"The reason I chose you... You don’t need to understand it fully right now. Just know this—you are special. Not because of what you are now, but because of what you can become."

Roman was taken aback. The weight of those words hit deeper than expected.

"As for the boundary... yes," Chen continued. "You’re not wrong to be concerned. You’ve probably already noticed strange shifts happening across the world. That’s because Earth... is no longer alone."

"What do you mean?"

"It has merged with two other planets—one inhabited by demons, the other by spiritual beasts. Right now, an invisible wall separates us. But that wall... will vanish exactly one month from now."

Roman’s eyes widened in shock.

"It’s as if someone is giving us time," Chen said slowly. "Time to prepare. But it’s not out of kindness. I believe—no, I know—someone is behind this. Someone powerful. And he wants war."

Chen’s voice turned cold.

"He wants us to fight each other. To be consumed by chaos."

He paused, then added, "But I don’t intend to play along with his game."

Roman clenched his fists. "So... what’s the plan?"

"Our goal in this one month," Chen said, "is not to get stronger just to fight. It’s to unite. We need to convince both the demons and the spiritual beasts that war isn’t the answer. That we should resist whatever fate that person wants to impose on us."

He turned, walking a few steps forward.

"I don’t know who he is. But he’s preparing... and so must we."

He faced Roman again.

"You’ll be trained by Vornark. I don’t have the time to train you personally right now—there are too many things I need to prepare. Negotiations, plans, alliances..."

Roman nodded slowly, his expression serious.

Chen smiled faintly. "Don’t worry about time. I’ve enclosed this entire training ground in a time barrier. Time here moves a hundred times slower than outside. Ten minutes out there is over sixteen hours in here."

Roman’s jaw dropped. "That’s insane..."

"You’ll have plenty of time to grow," Chen said. "Vornark won’t go easy on you, but you’ll thank him later."

Roman scratched his head, still overwhelmed. "Man... this is way too much to take in. But... I’ll do it. For now, I’ll do as you say."

Chen nodded approvingly. "Good."

Roman took a deep breath. "Then... we’ll meet again in ten days?"

Chen smiled. "Yeah. Ten days. Make them count."

With that, Chen Yu turned, his figure slowly fading as he walked toward the portal shimmering near the far wall, leaving Roman alone under the watchful gaze of Vornark.

The true training was about to begin.
