The Tyrant Is A Little Bit Kind
Chapter 81: Orlax Tirshtain 2

Chapter 81: Orlax Tirshtain 2

(Third Person POV)

The next day at noon.

Orlax was standing in the middle of the training yard, swinging his sword.

Each swing looked identical to the one before, perfectly executed.

Sweat poured down his body from exhaustion, but he didn’t care and continued his training with unwavering focus.

"Where were you yesterday? Everyone waited for you, but you didn’t show up in the end."

Orlax stopped swinging his sword and looked toward the entrance of the training yard, where Alice stood with her arms crossed under her chest.

"I was busy with a few things and couldn’t make it."

Orlax resumed swinging his sword, and silence filled the space.

"Tsk, that’s all? At least give a reason why you didn’t come."

Alice clicked her tongue in annoyance, prompting Orlax to pull back his sword and approach her.

"What do you want me to say? I was busy and couldn’t come. That’s it. Don’t say useless things."

He stood right in front of her, his scar-covered body fully exposed, causing Alice to step back slightly, tense.

"Hey, what’s with you? Why are you acting so rude? If you’re angry, don’t take it out on me."

Orlax remained silent and raised his right hand into the air. A towel from a distance flew toward him and landed directly in his hand.

"Don’t you have anything to say?"

Alice stomped her foot as she watched Orlax drying his body.

[Cleaning Magic]

"I don’t think I have anything to say to you."

After removing all the dirt from his body, he wore his white shirt and began buttoning it.

"Ughhh, what’s wrong with you today? You seem different."

Suddenly, Alice stepped closer to Orlax and grabbed his hand, closing her eyes to receive information. But...

"Huh? What’s going on? Why isn’t my ability working?"

Even after holding his hand for a while, nothing came to Alice, making her feel confused for the first time.

"You think your ability is perfect? Of course, there are several ways to counter or even alter the information you receive."

Through his right eye, he could see the different light particles coming from Alice’s body trying to enter his, but he commanded the red particles surrounding him, preventing her ability from affecting him.

"How? How is my ability not working? This is the first time something like this has happened!"

Alice rubbed her head out of frustration and disbelief that her ability had been neutralized.

"It’s all thanks to my eye. I can see how your power works and counter it accordingly."

"Hahaha, how ironic. You’re using my eye to counter my ability."

A faint smile appeared on Orlax’s face upon hearing her words.

"I think it’s a fair trade for giving you my right eye."

"Yes, yes. You’re making me question now whether you helped me just because you knew what my eye could do."

Alice furrowed her brows and looked sharply at Orlax.

"You didn’t do it because you knew about my eye’s power, right?"

"What do you think?"

Orlax smirked and walked out of the training hall, with Alice following behind, irritation evident on her face.

"I’m sure you didn’t know about my eye’s power because even I didn’t know."

"Think what you like."

They continued walking side by side toward Orlax’s room.

"Anyway, why didn’t you tell me we didn’t need the Western Empire? That makes me a little angry, like you lied to me."

Alice sat on his bed, looking around the familiar room in boredom.

"I have my own plans. But more importantly, did you understand why I sent you, specifically, there?"

Orlax sat on the couch in the room, relaxed, closing his eyes.

"Yes, I understood why you sent me. And I also realized my ability is more important than I thought. That’s why you wanted me to be your fiancée. You’re a cunning man."

She got up from the bed, sat next to him on the couch, rested her head on his shoulder, and closed her eyes with a faint smile on her face.

"Alice... Have you ever thought that what you knew about me through your ability might have been false?"

"Hmmm, maybe? Who knows? You’re capable of doing something like that."

Alice shrugged her shoulders indifferently, still resting against him with her eyes closed.

"Well, it’s been a long time since we’ve known each other, so... I’ll tell you something, Alice. And I hope you can see me like you used to."

"Why are you talking like you don’t know me? I’ll stand by you no matter what. Just tell me."

She lifted her head off his shoulder and looked into his eyes seriously, bringing a bit of warmth to his heart.

[Alice: Loyalty: Immeasurable]

’Alright... I think I can trust her now that we’ve come this far.’

He opened his left hand and looked at her to take it.

She took a deep breath, grabbed his hand, and information started flooding her mind.

After a few moments, Alice let go of his hand, slowly opened her eyes, and looked at Orlax with a strange expression.

"Did you really do all that?"

"Yes. What do you think of me now?"

Alice lowered her head and remained silent for a while, which made Orlax feel a little uneasy.

"Honestly, I don’t know how to react to what I just learned. But I do know one thing."

She placed her hand on his chest, raised her head, and looked into his eyes.

"Your feelings weren’t fake. But I do feel a bit upset, that’s all."

"Hah, let this be a lesson for you, Alice. You shouldn’t rely solely on your ability. Human emotions are complex. You can’t understand them with your power alone. You have to talk, learn how to read people without relying on your gift."

Orlax gently patted her hair and stood up from the couch.

"Excuse me now, I’m going to take a bath."

Alice nodded and left the room, lost in thought.

Before she knew it, she was already lying on her bed, thinking about what she had seen through Orlax’s thoughts just moments ago.

’How was he able to hide all that information from my ability? It’s so strange... I feel like I’m meeting him for the first time today.’

Alice kept tossing and turning in her bed for a while before finally getting up, unable to sleep.

"Damn it! I’m really annoyed. How was he able to fool me all this time without me knowing? I thought there was trust between us. Was that just my own assumption?"

She closed her eyes and tried to relax for a while despite the irritation she felt.

Four years ago,

These were the real memories Alice saw from Orlax — not the fragmented ones she knew before.

But the true events that happened during that time.

A past unknown to anyone.

Because of that past, the present that the world knows today was formed.

So let’s return to four years ago, after Diana left the palace.

Orlax was alone once again, left to fight in that lonely palace.

Year 2028, May 12, according to the global calendar.

In the Imperial Palace, the atmosphere was slightly festive due to the celebration that would be held today for the third princess’s birthday.

In the outer garden of the palace, there was a small shack that looked run-down from the outside.

Inside, there was a tiny room with a wooden bed, and in the back, a small bathroom.

Despite the shack’s exterior, the inside was extremely clean.

On the floor near the bed, a boy sat cross-legged with his eyes closed.

Silence filled the room, and the small boy didn’t move at all.

After a few minutes of stillness, his eyelashes began to flutter until his eyes opened—red like blood.

"Damn it! Why am I stuck at the third level of magic? When will I advance?"

Unlike swordsmanship, magic levels were divided as follows:

From level one to level five.

Then came Master, followed by Grandmaster.

The strongest mage of the era would be given the title Archmage.

The small boy with red eyes and black hair sighed and stood up.

"Today is the birthday of that ugly wench. I hope it ends quickly."

The boy left his little shack and began walking through the garden, drawing the attention of the working servants.

"Is that him?"

"Yes, that’s the one who killed the Empress not long ago."

"Oh God, why haven’t they executed this demon yet? Who knows what he’ll become when he grows up?"

The servants avoided him like he carried the plague.

The black-haired boy ignored it—he had grown used to this treatment since the day he was born—and kept walking.

’Since I can’t use force, I need to find another way to escape this prison... but how?’

He entered the palace and walked through its long halls until he reached the library.

No one found his presence odd here, as he was a frequent visitor.

He grabbed a book off one of the shelves and quietly sat in a secluded corner.

[Basics of Water Magic]

The boy began flipping through the pages, fully immersed in the book.

After about an hour, he closed the book and rubbed his head due to a splitting headache.

’Why do I always get a headache after reading for an hour? This is so annoying...’

At that time, Orlax didn’t know about his unique ability: Hyper Focus, which he activated unconsciously, causing him to become completely absorbed in anything he read.

The side effect of this ability was intense mental fatigue that led to severe headaches.

"Oh, look who’s sitting here... Isn’t this my dear little brother?"

’Damn it! Not this bastard again. I thought I’d escaped for the day.’

Orlax sighed and turned to see a boy with golden hair and green eyes.

The boy appeared to be sixteen or seventeen years old and was tall for his age—over 180 cm.

"Hello, brother. Do you need help with something?"
