She was speaking of her own abilities, and Shen Qinglan’s eyes revealed a touch of satisfaction.
That afternoon, Ya Xi had a great appetite, not only because the restaurant Shen Qinglan had brought her to had good ingredients, but most importantly, because all the food was personally grilled for her by Shen Qinglan.
After finishing the meal, Shen Qinglan looked at Ya Xi, who was still following behind her with no intention of looking for her brother and felt a bit helpless.
"You should go find your brother now," Shen Qinglan reminded her.
Ya Xi pretended not to understand, "Big sister, I lost my phone, can you accompany me to buy a new phone?"
Her face was full of sincerity, and after looking at her, Shen Qinglan did not refuse.
Ya Xi followed cheerfully.
"Big sister, do you think this phone is good? The red one is new this year," Ya Xi pointed to a certain well-known brand phone in the store.
Shen Qinglan glanced at the price tag, 6188.
The clerk on the side, seeing this, smiled with narrowed eyes, "The young lady has a great eye. This model is the latest release, and red is a color that this brand has introduced for the first time. As soon as it launched, it was sold out. This batch has just arrived, and if you were two days later, you might have to wait a while."
Ya Xi was somewhat tempted; she truly liked this phone, and as for the price, she didn’t pay it any mind.
Shen Qinglan’s phone was just a casually purchased domestic phone from a mall, with not so powerful functions, only costing a bit over a thousand yuan. For her, as long as a phone could make calls, that was sufficient.
"Let’s go with this one then," she said and was about to pay, but Ya Xi quickly stopped her.
"Sister, I brought money," she said, pulling out a card from her bag and handing it to the clerk.
Shen Qinglan knew about her family background and did not insist on paying.
Ya Xi got the phone, and looking at Shen Qinglan with a face full of expectation, she asked, "Big sister, what’s your phone number?"
Shen Qinglan gave out a series of digits, and Ya Xi swiftly took note of them.
After that, she accompanied Ya Xi to get a new SIM card. Ya Xi watched as Shen Qinglan saved her own number into the phone and finally smiled satisfactorily.
This time, she finally didn’t have to worry about not being able to find Shen Qinglan.
"Sister, I’ve never asked you, what’s your name?"
"Shen Qinglan, the Qing of clear water, and the Lan of waves."
"Sister, your name is really nice. It suits you," Ya Xi praised.
Everything about Shen Qinglan seemed perfect in Ya Xi’s eyes. Seeing Ya Xi’s fan-like expression, Shen Qinglan actually felt a bit helpless.
"Sister, where shall we go next?" Ya Xi asked with a face full of expectation.
"Back to school, to find your brother."
Ya Xi came to a halt and wouldn’t move. Shen Qinglan had walked a few steps before realizing she wasn’t following, turned around, and looking at her, Ya Xi had a sad expression on her face.
"Big sister, do you not like me, that’s why you always think of sending me off to my brother’s place?"
Her face bore an expression that dared Shen Qinglan to agree, or she would burst into tears.
Shen Qinglan couldn’t help but smile wryly, but still patiently explained, "I really do have something to take care of this afternoon, and it’s not convenient to bring you along. You have my contact information now, are you still afraid you won’t be able to find me?"
Ya Xi was a considerate girl. Hearing that Shen Qinglan had matters to attend to and couldn’t take her along, she felt a bit sad, but she understood. When she heard the latter part, her mood brightened again.
Shen Qinglan walked Ya Xi to the school gate, "I’m going to leave first. You should have other ways to contact your brother, so I won’t take you inside."
Ya Xi tugged at the corner of Shen Qinglan’s clothing, "Big sister, do you really not want to meet my brother? He’s really handsome, and he has a good temper, you’ll definitely like him once you meet him."
Shen Qinglan thought of Yan Shengyu, that troublemaker, and her beautiful eyes flickered, "No, I’m running out of time, maybe next time."
"Alright then." Ya Xi had to agree. She watched Shen Qinglan walk away until she could no longer be seen before taking out her mobile phone to call her brother.
She knew her brother’s number by heart; saying she didn’t was just a fib to spend more time with Shen Qinglan, although it was true that she had lost her phone.

Having finally shaken off Ya Xi, Shen Qinglan returned to Shangya Garden.
She had intermittently painted quite a few works of art during this time. She carefully packed away a few and then called Daniel.
Daniel, receiving the call from Shen Qinglan, knew she had produced new artworks and was ecstatic. He couldn’t wait to rush over after hanging up.
"My Qinglan Baby, you’ve really outdone yourself this time, I’m absolutely in love with you," Daniel said, cheeks flushing with excitement upon seeing the paintings in the studio.
"Eh, Qinglan Baby, the style of these few works seems a bit different from before," Daniel sobered up from his excitement, scrutinizing Shen Qinglan’s artworks, and voiced his suspicions.
Previously, Leng Qingqiu’s style was rather cool, particularly one painting named "Struggle" that even conveyed a sense of despair. Although other paintings’ effects weren’t as acute, anyone familiar with Leng Qingqiu’s art could feel the world-weariness within them; her creations were filled with too many dark elements.
Logically speaking, such a style wouldn’t have many admirers, since people generally favored beautiful things. However, Leng Qingqiu’s artworks were unexpectedly popular. Not to mention some who made fortunes speculating with such artistic works, even insiders praised Leng Qingqiu’s paintings highly.
These few, though still tinged with cool tones and a feel of despair, contained a shimmer of hope amidst the hopelessness. Like someone struggling in despair, about to fall into Hell, was suddenly clasped by the hands. Those hands were slowly exerting force, pulling her out of the mire.
Daniel looked very serious, then suddenly turned to look into Shen Qinglan’s eyes, "Qinglan Baby, tell me the truth, have you fallen in love?"
Shen Qinglan’s expression remained unchanged, but her thoughts shifted. The style of these few paintings was indeed different from before; when painting them, she’d always picture Fu Hengyi’s eyes, full of tenderness and indulgence.
Shen Qinglan took a sip of water, using it to hide the faintly different emotion in her eyes. Daniel didn’t get an answer from her and didn’t press further.
Instead, he pondered how to handle these artworks.
"Qinglan Baby, recently there have been quite a few people inquiring about your work. Do you plan on auctioning these artworks or selling them privately to those few people?" Daniel sought Shen Qinglan’s opinion. Although he made most of the decisions, he occasionally asked for her personal take.
"Handle it as you see fit."
Daniel knew this would be the answer. Shen Qinglan always focused on her painting; she never concerned herself with the rest.
