Chapter 439: 441. All parties take action, and the situation arises.
The girl gave a tittering laugh, and her expression immediately changed; gone was the previous hesitation. "Can’t you let me play a bit longer?"
Shen Qinglan extended her hand, "Hand it over."
The girl did not comply but instead sized up Shen Qinglan. "Don’t be in such a hurry, you look like you’ve already bought something, and I’ll definitely give it to you. I just want to know, what do you need these weapons for? Why haven’t I ever seen you in the underworld before?"
"Are you here to make a deal or to gather information?" Shen Qinglan asked indifferently.
The girl grinned, "I’m just purely curious, are you interested in satisfying my curiosity?"
Shen Qinglan placed her glass on the table. "Not interested. If you don’t want to do business with me, I’ll be leaving now."
"Hey, don’t go," the girl quickly grabbed Shen Qinglan’s arm, looked into her cold eyes, and sheepishly let go. "Don’t be like that. I’ve already brought what you wanted, everything’s here, though you have to assemble it yourself." She handed over the backpack she had been carrying on her back to Shen Qinglan, then rubbed her shoulders. "It was killing me with its weight."
Shen Qinglan weighed the bag in her hand. "I’ll transfer the rest of the money to you after I’ve checked the items."
"Hey, are you leaving now without having a drink to celebrate our partnership?"
Shen Qinglan didn’t stop her steps and left the place without hesitation.
The girl watched Shen Qinglan’s retreating figure, shaking her head in regret. She wanted to spend more time with Shen Qinglan, who gave her a very mysterious feeling. She dealt in top-tier weapons, but not many in the underworld even knew about them. Usually, only regular customers or someone introduced by them knew, but this woman was different. She directly approached her, offered a very attractive price for her top-tier weapons, only three items, but they were the best she had, two of which even people in the underworld didn’t know were in her possession.
The first thing this woman said when she found her was that she wanted to buy weapons, the price being up to her, with only one condition: secrecy, a condition that she inherently kept anyway, considering it was for her own safety.
What she was curious about was how Shen Qinglan had found her? That was also the reason she had personally delivered the goods today.
Exiting the bar, Shen Qinglan turned a corner, and when she appeared again, her long wavy hair had transformed into nifty short hair, her outfit had changed into a tracksuit, and she was wearing sneakers, exuding youthful energy. She carried a backpack, hailed a taxi, and gave the address.
Back at the hotel, Shen Qinglan took everything out of her backpack, checked them, and began to quickly assemble the items. Anyone witnessing this would have been astounded by her speed.
In less than a minute, Shen Qinglan had already finished assembling. She tossed the weapons aside, took out her phone to transfer money to the girl she had just met, completed the transaction, then immediately took out the SIM card, threw it in the toilet, and flushed it away.
Shen Qinglan then changed into clothes more suitable for action, placed the weapons on herself, and confidently walked out of the hotel with an earphone in her ear. "Enxi, have you found the trace?"
"We’ve found it, An, are you sure you want to do this?" Jin Enxi looked hesitant; she still couldn’t believe Mei was going to make a comeback in the underworld, but she also had to admit, it was a good plan. The news of Mei’s return orchestrated by them would swiftly spread in the underworld. Then Qin Yan would surely come looking for Shen Qinglan, after all, what better way to strike the Shen Family than revealing Shen Qinglan’s true identity while she was still Mei?
And by then, the Shen Family would face repercussions far worse than just disgrace; they might even end up accused of trafficking national intelligence. Don’t forget, Mei was once the world’s number one assassin.
"Enxi, we have no other choice now, time is life," Shen Qinglan spoke urgently. "Ya Xi is in more danger the longer she stays in Qin Yan’s hands. She has suffered enough in her life, and I don’t want her to face more disaster. So, Enxi, please help me this time."
Jin Enxi looked shocked. "An, don’t say please. Our lives were saved by you. If it weren’t for you, we couldn’t be living this life now. I’ve been happy these years, rest assured, this time I will definitely take care of Qin Yan, no matter the cost."
"Enxi, if you see Fu Hengyi, you must stop him at all costs, even if it means resorting to extreme measures."
"An, this will make him hate you," Jin Enxi’s expression changed slightly, as ’extreme measures’ indicated Shen Qinglan’s determination.
"Enxi, I can’t let my son lose his parents at such a young age." The operation was too dangerous, even Shen Qinglan was not confident she could come out unscathed from Qin Yan’s clutches, who had hostages, whereas they had nothing. So she absolutely couldn’t afford to let Fu Hengyi get hurt, for the sake of her child and her family.
"An." Jin Enxi felt Shen Qinglan’s firmness in her heart, her eyes slightly moist, but what followed was an overwhelming zeal. Truth be told, she hadn’t seen Shen Qinglan like this in many years, it reminded her of when they roamed the world together.
"An, don’t worry, I believe that we, who have created so many legends, will certainly create a legend again this time."
Allen had vanished inside the castle ever since he received Shen Qinglan’s call, and those who were monitoring Jin Enxi and Eden were gone too. Apart from Peter, who was left behind, Allen had taken everyone else away, and nobody knew where he had taken them.
Eden was severely injured by now and couldn’t help at all, so he had to stay. Andre came out of Cissily’s room, his demeanor cold, his face showing no sign of softening even when facing Jin Enxi, who knew Andre blamed them for keeping him in the dark.
"Isn’t An already here? Let’s go." Andre said emotionlessly. Jin Enxi nodded silently, glanced at Eden, and followed Andre’s footsteps.
The three had agreed to meet in the red light district. When Jin Enxi and the others arrived, Shen Qinglan was already waiting for them. She handed a weapon to Andre while her main task for Jin Enxi tonight was to disable the surveillance system at the target location, so she didn’t need to go out. Andre was responsible for covering Shen Qinglan.
Shen Qinglan’s fingers gently stroked the gun barrel, her eyes closed as she leaned back in the seat, a habit she indulged in before every operation to clear her mind.
This was a mission she had accepted the previous night. The target was a D boss in M country, specializing in trafficking drugs to Z country. Shen Qinglan chose to strike him not just to remove a cancer.
"An, we’re here." Jin Enxi stopped the car. Shen Qinglan looked at the skyscraper outside, who would have thought that the head of an international corporation would be a major drug lord?
The corners of Shen Qinglan’s mouth curved into a slight smile, "Let’s start."
Jin Enxi handed a black disc-shaped device to Andre, who got out of the car. Tonight was the anniversary celebration of the group, and the target, as the corporate head, would definitely appear here.
Andre, dressed sharply in a suit, placed the device inside his breast pocket and took out an invitation, striding alone into the venue. Shen Qinglan waited until Andre’s figure disappeared from sight, then stepped out herself, heading towards the neighboring building with a backpack hanging on her shoulders.
Jin Enxi’s fingers flew over the laptop resting on her knees as she calculated the timing.
Shen Qinglan made her way to the top of the skyscraper, glanced at the adjacent building of nearly the same height—the target’s location. She eyed the space between the two buildings, weighed the Eagle Claw in her hand, then with a strong swing, the Eagle Claw flew out, attaching firmly to a protrusion on the rooftop of the opposite building. Shen Qinglan pulled hard to ensure the Eagle Claw was securely attached and wouldn’t fall, then secured the other end to a suitable spot.
She looked down; from this height, she could only see a road outlined by decorative lights beneath her feet. Setting her gaze back on the task, she put on her gloves, grabbed the rope, and slid across. Shen Qinglan wore no safety gear; if her grip loosened or the rope snapped, she would fall nearly a hundred meters to her death, her body shattered.
But Shen Qinglan’s face showed no trace of fear, just calmness, and quickly, she slid to the opposite side. With an agile flip, her feet hooked onto the edge of the rooftop, and with another flip, she was standing on the rooftop.
"Andre, Enxi, I’m in position," Shen Qinglan said into the air, and immediately, Jin Enxi’s voice came through the earpiece, "An, give me one more minute, I will be ready soon."
"An, I’m in position on this side. The target should be in a room on the sixteenth floor, the target wasn’t spotted at the venue," Andre’s deep voice came over the earpiece, with a faint noise of the venue audible in the background.
After a while, Jin Enxi’s voice came through the earpiece again, "An, the interference is successful..."
Shen Qinglan’s eyes focused, she secured the rope and let it down the wall, then she grabbed the rope and began to climb down. The exterior of the building was all glass, which actually made it difficult to climb, but Shen Qinglan was moving quickly.
"An, the room one meter to your left is empty, you can enter from there," Jin Enxi said, staring at the computer screen.
Shen Qinglan looked around and indeed saw a window open on her left side; she gently swung the rope and propelled herself towards that window, then grabbed the edge of the window and flipped inside.
It was an office, dark with the lights off. She took out a pair of night vision goggles and put them on, scanned the environment quickly, "An, after leaving this room, turn right, go to the end and there’s a security stairway that leads to the sixteenth floor. No one is on this pathway, and once you reach the eighteenth floor, I will divert the bodyguards stationed in the corridor of the sixteenth floor."
Shen Qinglan didn’t respond verbally; she knew Jin Enxi would understand her silence, years of tacit understanding gave Shen Qinglan that confidence.
She followed the path planned by Jin Enxi, and indeed, upon reaching the eighteenth floor, she could faintly hear hurried footsteps from below.
"An, there are still two bodyguards left in the sixteenth floor, standing right by the room’s door. Can you handle it?"
Shen Qinglan gently tapped her earlobe, where a black earring hung, and the tapping sound conveyed her affirmation to Jin Enxi.
"OK, I can only buy you eight minutes. In these eight minutes, you need to eliminate those two bodyguards and the target, and then make it back to the rooftop."
"Start now," Shen Qinglan said, then darted out. The gun in her hand aimed at two men at the door, a bullet for each; before they could react, blood splattered on their faces as their bodies involuntarily fell to the ground. Shen Qinglan swiftly supported them, gently placing them on the ground without a sound.
From the surveillance footage, all one could see was two bodyguards standing by the door, diligently protecting the people inside the room, nothing unusual appearing, and more magically, the time on the surveillance did not stop ticking.
Shen Qinglan stood at the door, raised her hand to knock, a male voice from inside answered, "What is it?"
"Mr. Kate, the banquet is about to start, it’s time for you to head down," Shen Qinglan said, her voice entirely different from her usual tone.
The man inside suspected nothing; the guards outside were hired at great expense, and if a problem could arise like this, it would mean his money was wasted.
Footsteps sounded, the door opened, but when Kate saw the face of the person outside, his expression instantly changed, his hand reaching into his coat, but soon, he dared not move further.
"Mr. Kate, you really shouldn’t move, my toy tends to misfire," Shen Qinglan spoke softly, her voice seductive.
Kate’s hand halted its movement, staring intently at Shen Qinglan, "Who are you exactly?"
"I’m here to claim your life."
At these words, Kate’s eyes widened in fury, glaring at Shen Qinglan, "Who sent you?"
"Protecting my employer’s confidentiality is my duty, Mr. Kate, I’m terribly sorry but I can’t tell you. However, you might have heard of my name, I’m called Mei."
Kate’s eyes suddenly widened, "Impossible, Mei died eight or nine years ago, you can’t be Mei."
Shen Qinglan slightly smiled, "I am Mei, whether you believe it or not doesn’t matter to me. What matters are, Mr. Kate, someone has paid for your life, and I just needed a reason to re-enter the underworld, so, sorry, Mr. Kate."
Shen Qinglan’s finger lightly pulled the trigger, not waiting for Kate to pull out the weapon from his coat, his large figure fell to the ground with a thud. Shen Qinglan looked at the gun still emitting wisps of smoke, placed a black mandrake on Kate’s chest, her expression indifferent as there a flower of blood slowly bloomed.
She walked out of the room, disappearing quickly at the end of the corridor.
Soon, noises erupted throughout the building, screams and chaotic footsteps were clearly audible even from a distance. Shen Qinglan stood at the eighteenth-floor stairwell for a while, then quickly appeared on the rooftop of the building, and following her earlier method, slid to the adjacent building.
She retracted the rope and left the area.
"Andre hasn’t come back yet?" Shen Qinglan got back to the car and didn’t see Andre, she asked.
Jin Enxi shook her head, "Not yet, these people reacted very quickly, they’ve held all the guests, he can’t get out right now, let’s go first."
"Let’s wait for him," Shen Qinglan said, but she was not worried about Andre’s safety; after all, he was there by invitation, tonight’s mission was simply to place the jammer inside the venue, and at the time of the incident, he was still there and had not left. Even if these people were deranged, they wouldn’t trouble him.
After ten minutes, Andre’s figure appeared in Shen Qinglan’s view, and once Andre got into the car, the vehicle quickly disappeared at the street corner.
Back at the hotel, Shen Qinglan went directly to her room to rest, they had booked a suite with a total of four rooms.
The next day, when Shen Qinglan got up, she received the news that Kate had been shot dead in his hotel, and the murderer was the long-missing Mei.
Mei’s resurgence in the underworld, taking Kate as the first target, the news instantly spread through the streets.
The reason this news spread so quickly was naturally Shen Qinglan’s doing. As the intimidation caused by Mei had started to diminish over the years, people immediately recalled the shadows Mei had cast on them previously, and for a time, the underworld was in a state of panic, fearing they might accidentally become Mei’s next target.
Allen, of course, heard this news too, and looking at the man across from him, his gaze contemptuous, "This is your so-called protection? Letting a woman stand in front of you, Fu Hengyi, you are just a waste."
Fu Hengyi’s expression was indifferent. Even upon hearing Allen’s words, there was no hint of change in his demeanor. He had already known about Shen Qinglan’s plan, so when he heard the news, what he felt was not shock but worry. He worried for Shen Qinglan’s safety. Although he knew she would never let anyone see her true face or get hurt, his heart was still in turmoil, never at ease unless he saw Shen Qinglan.
"Have you found their location?" Fu Hengyi coldly asked. After Shen Qinglan had left, he had gone to track her down, but it was difficult due to Jin Enxi covering her tracks.
While he hesitated about whether to use his connections, Allen’s men had found him and asked to meet, which led to the current face-to-face scenario.
Allen’s expression stiffened, his subordinates couldn’t trace Shen Qinglan; they only knew she had been active in M country, which was virtually useless information. Fu Hengyi didn’t say anything, but Allen could tell from Fu Hengyi’s gaze that he was being scorned.
Rage simmered in the depths of Allen’s eyes, yet he forcefully suppressed it, "They won’t be able to find them on their own for the time being, but I’ve made arrangements. As soon as Qin Yan shows up, we’ll be able to quickly eliminate her."
Fu Hengyi regarded Allen’s optimism with skepticism. If Qin Yan were so easy to deal with, they wouldn’t have struggled for so long. That woman had been evasive for over twenty years and had become exceedingly cunning.
Fu Hengyi threw a document in front of Allen, "This is a list of underworld bosses related to Qin Yan that I’ve obtained. See if you can take care of a few and prevent them from causing trouble."
Acquiring this document had taken a great deal of effort from Fu Hengyi, involving all the connections he could muster, and even owing quite a few favors.
Allen picked up the document and read it, his eyes gradually turning serious. Some names on the list were already on his radar, while others were new.
"Those marked in black have a general relationship with Qin Yan; those in red have a very good relationship," Fu Hengyi stated indifferently. Although there were many names, only a few were actually close, including Yamamoto, who had been thwarted by them last time.
Allen pointed to a name on the list, "Why did you highlight Yamamoto specifically?"
"Yamamoto has always been very close to Qin Yan. Although we disrupted their plans last time, they could reunite for mutual benefits. So I think we should take care of Yamamoto before he joins forces with Qin Yan again."
Allen pondered, recognizing it as a good strategy. While they couldn’t find Qin Yan, Yamamoto was still accessible. "Fu Hengyi, it seems you are not just idly concerned. As for those who are generally associated, leave them to me. I can ensure they remain neutral and not interfere with the issues between me and Qin Yan."
Though he had kept a low profile over the years, it didn’t mean he had lost his influence. His reputation still commanded respect from many.
Fu Hengyi handed the list to Allen not without reason. Depending on just his own power was ultimately limited; he needed to make rational use of all available resources.
After several setbacks, Qin Yan’s manpower was pitifully reduced. Except for those whisked away by the Housekeeper, the rest were practically exterminated. Ensuring these people didn’t aid Qin Yan would reduce the threat to Shen Qinglan, and what Fu Hengyi intended to do was to locate Ya Xi and rescue her.
Once Qin Yan no longer had the hostages to manipulate Shen Qinglan, Shen Qinglan could freely fight back.
Allen already knew the plans of Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi, yet thought the couple had planned it together, unaware they were each acting independently. To him, the person named Ya Xi didn’t even need rescuing; anyone that endangered Shen Qinglan deserved to die, especially Ya Xi at this moment.
If Ya Xi were in front of Allen, he might even take her life personally.
"If you have news, let me know. I’m leaving now," Fu Hengyi stood up. Although he couldn’t really call Allen a friend, this time he had left the military on his own, without any reliable personnel around. Cooperating with Allen was a necessity despite the fact that Allen had once allied with King and almost cost Fu Hengyi his life; however, if it could ensure Shen Qinglan’s safety, he was willing to temporarily forget his soldier identity and past grudges to work together with Allen.
Allen looked at the list in his hands for a long time before picking up his phone to make calls to the people listed, many of whom were relationships established by his father’s generation. In terms of seniority, he was the one who actually had closer ties with them. However, due to years of harboring resentment towards his father, he had deliberately ignored these connections and had truly forgotten them. Who could imagine that Qin Yan was still in contact with them?
Fu Hengyi walked the unfamiliar city streets, watching the cars and people pass by, feeling increasingly anxious. He had no clue where Shen Qinglan had gone, nor could he contact her. The only thing he could be sure of was that she was safe for the moment.
But how long this safety could last was something Fu Hengyi couldn’t promise as the news of Mei’s appearance had spread far and wide. Many were searching for her, including the lurking Qin Yan.
Meanwhile, in a villa in Country Y, Qin Yan was listening to the Housekeeper reporting the news of the past few days.
"Mei has appeared?" Qin Yan asked in a hoarse voice, her vocal cords having been destroyed. That she could still speak was a stroke of luck.
The housekeeper bowed his head, daring not to look at Qin Yan’s current appearance; she looked like a skeleton draped in human skin, completely devoid of flesh, a terrifying sight.
"Yes, Madame, Kate has been killed by her, and the news is now widespread," the housekeeper respectfully replied, a fleeting look of pity appeared in his eyes as he saw Qin Yan’s gaunt hand resting on her chest, before swiftly disappearing.
"Shen Qinglan is really trying hard to lure me out," Qin Yan chuckled lightly; however, her laughter was tinged with scorn.
"Madame, do you want me to reveal Shen Qinglan’s identity to the world?"
"Have Carl’s ashes been found yet?" Qin Yan asked indifferently.
The housekeeper immediately understood, "Madame, it’s our fault."
"Since you know you are useless, go find him immediately, and don’t constantly remind me just how incompetent you all are."
"Yes, Madame."
The housekeeper took a few steps, then paused, "Madame, you must take care of yourself. With the enemy still alive, if you don’t take care of yourself, it will be the pain of loved ones and the joy of foes."
Qin Yan paused, surprised. Pain of loved ones, joy of foes? Did she have any relatives left now? She looked at her deformed hand, her mouth curling with a mocking smile. She had thought that after Carl’s death, she and Allen were the closest, and she had considered Allen her only family, which is why she had put in so much effort to save him. But look how he had repaid her, opposing her at every turn for a woman, even trying to kill her now. It’s safe to say that Allen significantly contributed to her current plight.
"Sorry Carl, I really can’t forgive Allen. It’s been over twenty years, he has always kept me from seeing you, even wanted to kill me, Carl. My heart aches, I saw him as family, but for the daughter of an enemy, he did this to me, Carl, I hope you don’t blame me. In our next life, let me make it up to you with a child, alright?" Qin Yan whispered to the air, her expression sorrowful.
She clutched a photo frame tightly against her chest, "Carl, I don’t even want to see you now, I’ve become so ugly, I can’t even stand to look at myself, I’m worried you won’t love me anymore after seeing me. Promise me, even if you see me now, you won’t despise me, don’t laugh at me. In the next life, I will make sure I’m beautiful, and meet you early to marry you, bear your children. Not being able to give you a child in this life is my greatest regret."
She wanted to stand up, but the tendons in her hands and feet had been cut, and though the housekeeper could set bones, he was powerless against such severe injuries. Her only range of movement was this wheelchair.
"Push me outside to get some sunlight," Qin Yan told the bodyguard standing in the corner, blending into the wall.
The bodyguard walked over and pushed Qin Yan out; he didn’t push her very far, staying to wander in the garden of their own villa.
Qin Yan looked at the garden full of flowers, but the depression in her eyes didn’t lessen at all.
"Ah! Monster! Mommy, help!" Suddenly, a sharp scream of a child pierced the sky, also reaching Qin Yan’s ears. She looked towards the source of the sound, only to see a little boy sitting on the ground, hands on both sides of his body, looking at her with fright. Clearly, he had just called her a monster.
Qin Yan’s eyes darkened, her aura growing even more somber. The little boy, frightened, immediately burst into tears. Upon hearing her child’s crying, the mother rushed out from the villa’s open gate, grabbed her son into her arms, and opened her mouth as if to scold Qin Yan. But upon clearly seeing Qin Yan’s appearance, and the bodyguard behind her, she swallowed her words.
"I’m sorry, madam, my child is insensible and disturbed you. I am very sorry; I will take him away now." The woman hurriedly left with her child in arms.
Qin Yan coldly glanced at the mother and the child, catching the little boy’s eyes as they widened in fear, prompting him to immediately shut them.
Qin Yan looked at the flowers scattered all over the ground; it was clear that the little boy had crawled in through a nearby doghole. "Dig up all the flowers in the garden for me and block that doghole too. These beautiful flowers only serve to highlight my ugliness."
The bodyguard acknowledged her order.
"Let’s go back," said Qin Yan coldly. "Contact Mr. Yamamoto for me; I have something to say to him." She directed this to the approaching housekeeper.
The housekeeper, who had initially reached out to help push Qin Yan’s wheelchair, immediately withdrew his hand. "Madam, Mr. Yamamoto currently has a misunderstanding with us and is unlikely to see us easily." It was true, as their associates in R country had all been killed by Yamamoto.
Housekeeper, how can such a minor misunderstanding be so difficult to clear up that I need to teach you?" Qin Yan fumed.
The housekeeper’s eyes shifted slightly. "Madam, I will go right now."
Qin Yan waved her hand dismissively, as if shooing away a fly.
Upon receiving Qin Yan’s invitation, Yamamoto immediately hung up the phone. Last time, Qin Yan had teamed up with Ryan to try to kill him; now, she dared to invite him out, thinking he had no means to deal with her.
The housekeeper, unsurprised by the rejection, understood that no one would easily go over, but last time’s incident really was a misunderstanding. He continued to call Yamamoto. Eventually, Yamamoto simply turned off his phone, leaving the housekeeper helpless. If Yamamoto wasn’t willing to take calls, then any plans were redundant.
In R country, Yamamoto looked at the woman opposite him. "What on earth does Qin Yan want?"
The woman held a chess piece in her hand and placed it on the board. "Mr. Yamamoto, you are smart. Can’t you guess what Qin Yan wants?"
"I do know, but on what basis does she think I’d help her after she schemed against me and caused me heavy losses?" Yamamoto was puzzled.
"It’s all about interests. In this world, there are only eternal interests, not eternal friends or enemies. Haven’t you always exemplified this saying well, Mr. Yamamoto?" The woman’s lips curled into a smile. Although her words seemed mocking, Yamamoto wasn’t at all offended.
"Su Qing, you make me sad with your words. After all, we’ve been cooperative friends for many years." Yamamoto laughed, a hint of helplessness in his eyes, as if looking at a naughty child.
Su Qing’s eyes flickered slightly. "Mr. Yamamoto, it’s your turn to move."
Yamamoto looked at the chessboard, frowned, and placed his piece down. "You won again, Su Qing. I’ve never beaten you in chess, yet I can’t help but still want to play with you. Do you think I’m masochistic?" He said jokingly.
Su Qing smiled slightly, skillfully changing the topic. "I heard news that Mei has appeared. What do you think about this?"
Hearing the name Mei, a flash of murderous intent passed through Yamamoto’s eyes. "Naturally, I want to see if this Mei is human or ghost. After all, she killed my brother, and I must settle this account."
Su Qing wore an unsurprising expression. "Mr. Yamamoto, I hope you don’t get involved in this matter." She said seriously.
Yamamoto, puzzled, looked at her. "Su Qing, what do you mean by that?"
"I suspect that this Mei isn’t the same person as before. Think about it, Mei has been missing for eight or nine years and she suddenly shows up, making a scene that everyone in the underworld knows about. Isn’t that strange?"
Spurred by Su Qing’s words, Yamamoto also felt something was off. "Go on."
"I suspect someone wants to rise using Mei’s name, or it’s a trap set by someone with an agenda," Su Qing spoke calmly.
Yamamoto pondered Su Qing’s words. "So what you’re saying is, regardless of the purpose, this Mei is fake?"
"Correct."
"But in this world, there aren’t many who can come and go without a trace like Mei did. I heard when Kate was killed, neither the person in the surveillance room nor the highly paid bodyguard he’d hired had any clue."
"What do you think of my skills, could I pretend to be Mei and pull it off?"
Yamamoto was taken aback, then smiled. "True, if it were you, you could."
"So, I guess Qin Yan wants to use Mei’s information to persuade you to take action. Didn’t she do exactly that last time?" Su Qing sipped her tea as she spoke.
Yamamoto scoffed. "Does Qin Yan think I’m a fool?"
"Whatever method she uses, as long as it works, it’s good. You want to take revenge on Mei, and that’s exactly what she’s counting on," Su Qing explained, shedding light on Qin Yan’s potential motives.
"Su Qing, you’re the smart one. You’re right, Qin Yan really is disgusting. Thank you for the reminder."
Su Qing smiled faintly. "We are friends; isn’t a little heads-up what friends are for?"
