Shen Qinglan turned her gaze away and ignored her.

Ya Xi seemed accustomed to Shen Qinglan’s coldness and continued eating the pastries by herself. These pastries were truly delicious, and she hadn’t eaten dinner today. She was startled earlier, cried for a while, and was already starving, feeling weak.

Yan Shengyu arrived quickly. As soon as his car appeared at the street corner, Ya Xi saw it, pointed at the car, and said to Shen Qinglan, "Big Sister, do you see it? That blue one is my brother’s car. I’m telling you, my brother is quite handsome. You will definitely like him. Big Sister, since you don’t need me to be grateful in such a big way, why don’t you become my sister-in-law?"

Shen Qinglan looked in the direction she was pointing and indeed saw a blue car. Calculating the distance from here, it would only take a minute or two. Nothing untoward could possibly happen.

She waved her hand to hail a taxi. "Since your family is here to pick you up, I’ll take my leave now. Don’t come to places like this alone without reason in the future."

Shen Qinglan swiftly closed the car door, ignoring Ya Xi, who was desperately tapping on the window outside. "Big Sister, don’t go."

Watching the car disappear into the distance, Ya Xi stomped her foot in frustration.

"Xiao Xi, why did you run to such a dangerous place?" As soon as he parked the car, Yan Shengyu hurried over to Ya Xi, his face stern and scolding.

Ya Xi watched helplessly as Shen Qinglan left and was feeling upset when Yan Shengyu’s scolding brought her to tears.

"Ah, it’s all your fault. If you hadn’t been so slow, Big Sister wouldn’t have left. It’s all your fault, all your fault," Ya Xi cried out loud, completely disregarding her image.

Yan Shengyu originally intended to scare her so she wouldn’t run around recklessly. He had taken his eyes off her for just a moment, and she disappeared, making him terribly anxious.

In this unfamiliar place, if something happened to her, he wouldn’t be able to explain it to the family. But after saying just one sentence, this girl had burst into tears, leaving Yan Shengyu flustered as he fumbled to comfort her.

"Xiao Xi, don’t cry. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have been harsh with you. Can you forgive your brother?"

Ya Xi cried even harder. She was genuinely terrified today, after all. She was only seventeen and had been well-protected by her family, never encountering such incidents. When Shen Qinglan appeared to rescue her, she was immersed in the joy of meeting Shen Qinglan and hadn’t had time to feel scared. Now that Shen Qinglan was gone, and her brother had appeared, Ya Xi’s emotions completely collapsed.

She squatted on the ground, hugged her knees, and cried heartbrokenly.

Yan Shengyu squatted in front of her, his face full of worry, but he didn’t know how to console her. All he could manage was to repeatedly say, "Don’t cry anymore."

Ya Xi’s makeup, already smudged, was further ruined by her tears, making it even more unbearable to look at.

Finally, she cried enough and stood up, sniffling. Yan Shengyu breathed a sigh of relief; if she continued crying, he might start crying too.

"Xiao Xi, let’s head back first. We’re returning to Beijing tomorrow."

Ya Xi held Yan Shengyu’s hand and looked at him pitifully. "Can we not go back first? I want to find Big Sister."

"Xiao Xi, in such a vast world, how can you expect your brother to find her?"

"Just try, okay? Maybe we’ll find her. Big Sister is so beautiful; she must be easy to spot." Ya Xi remained hopeful; she genuinely wanted to find Shen Qinglan.

Yan Shengyu couldn’t resist Ya Xi’s pitiful expression and finally gave in. "Alright, alright, your brother will help you look. But you have to at least tell your brother your Big Sister’s name."

Hearing this, Ya Xi wanted to cry again. She had forgotten to ask Big Sister for her name.

Despite this, the next day, Yan Shengyu still asked his friends in Hang City to look for someone based on Ya Xi’s description. But by then, Shen Qinglan had already left Hang City and returned to Beijing, so they were destined to return with no success.

Indeed, Shen Qinglan hadn’t followed the original plan to go to Yue City but returned to Beijing instead, all because of those few little boxes of osmanthus cake.

She couldn’t bear to disregard the elderly lady’s gesture of making pastries for her late at night. If she went to Yue City and then returned to Beijing, the pastries might have spoiled, so she altered her itinerary at the last minute.

She flew back, and if it weren’t for Ya Xi insisting on finding Shen Qinglan, they might have met at the airport. But in the end, fate intervened, and they missed each other once more.

Upon returning to Beijing, the first thing Shen Qinglan did was drop off her luggage at home and then head to school. Her timing was impeccable; there were people in the dormitory.

"Ah, ah, ah! Qinglan, you’re back," Yu Xiaoxuan exclaimed excitedly upon seeing Shen Qinglan, rushing forward intending to give her a bear hug, only to be skillfully evaded as usual.

"Qinglan, Qinglan, did you bring me gifts?" Yu Xiaoxuan eagerly stretched out her fair, tender hand.

Shen Qinglan handed her a few bags she was carrying.

"Wow, Qinglan, you’re so good to me, bringing me so many gifts. I feel so embarrassed." Despite saying she felt embarrassed, a radiant smile spread across her face.

"There are also some for Fang Tong and Wu Qian," Shen Qinglan remarked casually, causing the smile on Yu Xiaoxuan’s face to falter, while Fang Tong grinned triumphantly.

"Hear that? There’s also mine. I knew Qinglan wouldn’t forget about me."

Saying this, she elbowed Yu Xiaoxuan aside and rummaged through the bags Shen Qinglan brought back. Among the snacks were three beautifully packaged boxes.

Fang Tong picked up one and shook it at Shen Qinglan. "Qinglan, is this for me?"

"The red one is for you; the pink one is for Xiao Xuan, and the blue one is for Wu Qian."

"I get one too?" Wu Qian was pleasantly surprised. She hadn’t expected Shen Qinglan to get a gift for her as well.

Shen Qinglan nodded. "There are also some traditional pastries from Hang City. They’re all quite tasty; you should try them."

Yu Xiaoxuan didn’t wait for Shen Qinglan to speak, as she’d already opened the box of osmanthus cake and started eating.

"Mm-mm, Qinglan, this is delicious. Where did you buy it? Can I find it online? I’ll order a few boxes later. The taste is amazing."

Shen Qinglan recalled the small shop hidden deep in the alley and the elderly lady with a head of white hair, shaking her head.

"I don’t think you can find this taste online anymore. Since you like it, eat more while you can."

Upon hearing this, Yu Xiaoxuan felt a sense of regret, watching Fang Tong grab another piece, quickly rushing over to snatch two pieces for herself.

Wu Qian took small bites of the pastry, watching Fang Tong and Yu Xiaoxuan laughing and playfully jostling each other, eyes filled with envy.

"Qinglan, did the scarf cost you a lot?" Over there, Fang Tong had already opened the gift box and taken out an exquisite red scarf.

Made from high-quality silk, Fang Tong could tell at a glance that this scarf was worth a lot, considering Shen Qinglan’s family background, she suddenly felt embarrassed.
