Chapter 249. Throwing money at people?
Chapter 249: 249. Throwing money at people?
Han Yi had left, but Han Zhengshan was still furious. His chest heaved violently, and he even rolled his eyes. Xia Fei got scared and quickly tried to calm him down, "Zhengshan, Zhengshan, don’t get excited. You must take care of yourself. What would I do if something happened to you?" Her voice carried a crying tone, pitifully delicate.
Han Zhengshan caught his breath, but his expression did not improve, "This unfilial son. If I had known this would happen, I should have strangled him the moment he was born."
Xia Fei tried to calm Han Zhengshan, "You know what Han Yi’s temper is like. He won’t accept force but persuasion. If you speak to him nicely, he’ll understand that you’re doing this for his own good and he will listen. But if you confront him head-on like this, of course, he won’t listen."
Upon hearing this, Han Zhengshan sighed deeply, "If only he really would listen to me."
"You shouldn’t get so angry yourself," Xia Fei said while wiping her tears. "If you work yourself up into a fit, what am I supposed to do? Han Yi doesn’t like me to begin with. If something happens to you, where does that leave me?"
Han Zhengshan’s heart softened, and putting aside his anger, he pulled Xia Fei into his arms and comforted her gently, "I’m all right. Don’t cry. For your sake, I’ll take good care of myself. Don’t worry."
"This is what you said, you can’t go back on your word."
"I promise I won’t go back on my word. Are you satisfied now?"
Xia Fei smiled, "Mhm." Her eyes gleamed as she spoke, "You know, you really shouldn’t worry too much about that little star. Think about what kind of person Han Yi is. Has he ever been serious about any woman? The way he acted today seemed mostly like a show, just to upset you. It won’t be long before he breaks up with that little star."
Han Zhengshan did not quite agree. He knew his son. If Han Yi really didn’t care about this woman, he wouldn’t even bother arguing with him about it. More likely than not, Han Yi had genuinely fallen for this young star.
"If you’re still worried, then I’ll go find this woman. Women like her are surely after Han Family’s money. Just a sum of money should be enough to send her away," Xia Fei suggested.
That was not a bad idea, but where would the money come from? Their money was given to them by Han Yi, just a bit of living allowance each month. Although the amount wasn’t small, it hardly sufficed for their spending habits.
Han Zhengshan thought of that too, and his recently eased expression darkened again, regretting why he ever had such a son.
Xia Fei knew instantly what he was thinking and softly started, "I’ll figure out the money."
Han Zhengshan looked at her. Xia Fei, slightly embarrassed, lowered her head, "I actually still have a piece of jewelry, that sapphire necklace you gave me as my first birthday present from you. I’ve never had the heart to wear it. Even when we were strapped for cash, I couldn’t bear to sell it."
That sapphire necklace had been auctioned off by Han Zhengshan costing him about fifty million at the time. If sold now, it would undoubtedly fetch more than that.
Han Zhengshan sighed, "You’ve suffered a lot by marrying me."
Nestled in his arms, Xia Fei shook her head gently, speaking softly, "As long as I can be with you, I’m not suffering."
Han Zhengshan felt greatly comforted, but his guilt towards Xia Fei deepened, "Keep the necklace for yourself. I’ll come up with the money." He actually still owned a portion of the Han Group stocks, which he had secretly bought under the guise of needing investment money from Han Yi. Although each transaction was small, over the years, little had added up to 3% of Han Group stocks. Even Xia Fei was unaware of this.
Don’t underestimate this 3%. The market value of Han Group was over ten billion, and these stocks were worth over a hundred million.
A gleam flashed in Xia Fei’s eyes, a hint of pleasure crossing her expression. This old fool was finally willing to touch that money.
Actually, Xia Fei had gambled away that necklace long ago. The reason she mentioned it was to coax Han Zhengshan into revealing his resources. How did she know about Han Zhengshan’s secret stocks in Han Group? They had been married for nearly ten years; how could she not know his little maneuvers?
**************
Yu Xiaoxuan looked surprised at the woman before her, whom she did not recognize. She had been shooting a commercial when a woman had come looking for her. Walking out, she was greeted by an unfamiliar face.
"You’re looking for me?" Yu Xiaoxuan asked.
Xia Fei appraised Yu Xiaoxuan, disdain evident in her gaze, "Are you Yu Xiaoxuan?" She did appear prettier than in the newspapers. Large, bright eyes—no wonder she caught Han Yi’s interest. He liked women with big eyes.
Yu Xiaoxuan frowned, disliking the woman’s gaze, "Yes. And you are?"
"Nothing much," Xia Fei replied, lightly laughing with undisguised contempt.
"If you don’t have anything, I’ll leave," Yu Xiaoxuan said unhappily, her day still packed with work.
"Wait a moment," Xia Fei called out to her. "I am Han Yi’s mother. I want to have a chat with you."
Yu Xiaoxuan eyed her suspiciously. This woman didn’t seem much older than Han Yi. Could she really have a son as old as him?
Xia Fei, seeing what Yu Xiaoxuan was thinking, felt somewhat uneasy, "I’m Han Yi’s stepmother. Han Yi’s father asked me to speak with you on his behalf."
Yu Xiaoxuan arched an eyebrow, "About what?" She had never heard Han Yi mention his family since they had been together.
Xia Fei glanced around, "Are you sure you want to talk here?"
Yu Xiaoxuan pursed her lips, spoke briefly to Sister Linda, who glanced at Xia Fei and nodded, "Twenty minutes. You must come back in twenty minutes."
"Okay."
Yu Xiaoxuan followed Xia Fei to a café outside and sat in a corner.
"Would you like anything to drink?" Xia Fei asked.
"No need. I only have twenty minutes before I need to return to work."
"You seem very busy, Miss Yu," Xia Fei remarked.
Yu Xiaoxuan smiled, "A bit busy." So say what you need to say quickly.
Xia Fei, a bit stiffened by Yu Xiaoxuan’s brusque tone, decided not to beat around the bush anymore, placing a newspaper in front of Yu Xiaoxuan, "I hope Miss Yu can take a look at this first."
Yu Xiaoxuan glanced at it, her expression unchanging, "What are you trying to say?"
Xia Fei smiled, "Miss Yu, you should be aware of what kind of family the Han Family is. You and Han Yi having a fling is fine by me and his father, but if you’re thinking of marrying into the Han Family, I’m afraid neither his father nor I would agree."
Yu Xiaoxuan’s smile was tinged with irony, "I wonder if it’s from your status as Mrs. Han that you say such words?"
"I may not be Han Yi’s biological mother, but I am his father’s wife and Han Yi’s mother. I’m also your elder, and I was sent here on behalf of Han Yi’s father," Xia Fei said proudly, failing to understand what exactly she had to be proud of.
"So what is it that you want to tell me today?" Yu Xiaoxuan asked.
A flash of anger crossed Xia Fei’s eyes. Was Yu Xiaoxuan genuinely naive or just pretending to be, "Han Yi’s father hopes that you will leave Han Yi. If you agree to leave him, we’ll give you a sum of money. With this money, you can live a good life without depending on a man, and being young and beautiful, you can have any man you want."
Yu Xiaoxuan found it amusing and actually laughed out loud, "Mrs. Han, not to hide it from you, in all the time I’ve known Han Yi, he has never mentioned his family to me, not even once. I don’t know if it’s because he cares too much about his family and doesn’t want to mention you, or if he feels that these family members don’t deserve to be his family, so he disdains even mentioning them."
Yu Xiaoxuan leaned back in her chair, her legs crossed, and a look of a smile but not quite a smile on her face. Where was the harmless facade she maintained in front of Shen Qinglan?
Before coming, Xia Fei had people investigate Yu Xiaoxuan and understood her personality, but the woman now was completely different from what the documents described. There could only be one explanation for such a change—Yu Xiaoxuan had been pretending before. Xia Fei secretly clenched her teeth, this woman was duplicitous.
If it weren’t for Han Yi caring too much about Yu Xiaoxuan and Xia Fei fearing that Yu Xiaoxuan’s entrance might threaten her position, she would actually be quite happy to have Yu Xiaoxuan join the family. After all, Yu Xiaoxuan’s parents had died not long ago, and she was now an orphan with no prestigious family background. Marrying into the Han Family, she wouldn’t pose a threat.
"Tell me, what will it take for you to leave Han Yi and the Han Family?" Xia Fei cut straight to the point, tired of beating around the bush.
Yu Xiaoxuan was surprised, "I never said that I wanted to leave Han Yi."
Xia Fei looked at her, "Miss Yu, you should understand what I said just now. Throughout history, marriages without the blessings of parents are unhappy, not legitimate, and unsuitable. By being with Han Yi now, without the recognition of his father and me, you are not the Han Family’s daughter-in-law. In the eyes of outsiders, you are just a mistress."
Yu Xiaoxuan was neither angry nor annoyed but asked calmly, "So, how many benefits would I get if I left Han Yi?"
A smug smile curved Xia Fei’s lips, a flash of satisfaction in her eyes, "Miss Yu is indeed clever." She took out a check from her bag and placed it in front of Yu Xiaoxuan. "As long as you agree to leave Han Yi and stay away from him in the future, this check will be yours."
Yu Xiaoxuan picked up the check and noticed the "5" followed by several zeros, nodding, "The Han Family is indeed generous."
Xia Fei smiled, a hint of disdain hidden deep in her eyes. Coming from a humble family clearly meant having no vision; five hundred thousand was enough to send her away, but Xia Fei was happy to settle Yu Xiaoxuan with this amount.
"Now that you have accepted it, you need to adhere to it. We don’t want to see news like today a second time."
Yu Xiaoxuan placed the check on the table and looked at Xia Fei curiously, "What did I agree to?"
Xia Fei was furious, "Miss Yu, this isn’t fun anymore. You just received my five hundred thousand check and now you’re backing out? Isn’t that a bit shameless?"
Yu Xiaoxuan nodded seriously, "Indeed, it would be unkind to do that. But I never agreed to take this check in the first place, besides..."
Yu Xiaoxuan paused and laughed, "If I continue with Han Yi, he could give me much more than a mere five hundred thousand."
To Xia Fei, Yu Xiaoxuan’s words were the epitome of greed. She frowned and pulled out another check from her bag, slamming it on the table, "One million. Is that enough now?" Xia Fei tried not to look at the check on the table; her heart was aching.
Yesterday, Han Zhengshan had given her two million to get rid of Yu Xiaoxuan. Xia Fei covertly reduced it to five hundred thousand, thinking that if she could get rid of Yu Xiaoxuan once and for all, the remaining money would be hers. But she hadn’t expected Yu Xiaoxuan to be greedy.
Yu Xiaoxuan picked up the check from the table, looked it over carefully, and clicked her tongue, "What if I still don’t agree? Are you going to throw another check at me?" she said, her eyes gleaming as she looked at Xia Fei.
Xia Fei was so angry her face turned white, gripping the straps of her purse so tightly that it was the only thing keeping her from exploding. "If you take this check and leave now, all this money is yours. If you refuse, I guarantee you won’t get a dime in the future. You should seriously consider my suggestion. Leave while Han Yi still has feelings for you, so you both can hold onto those beautiful memories, and live your carefree life with the money, or wait until Han Yi grows tired of you and kicks you out in disgrace."
Yu Xiaoxuan looked down, seemingly mulling over the suggestion. Then she smiled, picked up the check from the table, and waved it in front of Xia Fei, "Thanks a lot." Having said that, she stood up and left.
Xia Fei watched her departing figure with satisfaction; as long as money could solve the issue, it was fine. But resolving one Yu Xiaoxuan could lead to another Li Xiaoxuan or Zhang Xiaoxuan. The best solution was to find a suitable wife for Han Yi, get him married early, ideally to a woman with a mild temperament and not too prestigious a family background since they were easier to control.
Sitting alone in the café, Xia Fei pondered how to choose a wife for Han Yi. Meanwhile, Yu Xiaoxuan walked out of the café, glanced disdainfully at the check in her hand, and sneered before heading back to the photo studio.
That evening, it was still Han Yi who picked up Yu Xiaoxuan from work. "What’s wrong, why are you so quiet all the way?" Han Yi asked, glancing sideways at the silent Yu Xiaoxuan, which was uncharacteristic of her.
"Is it because of the news in the newspaper that you’re upset? Don’t worry, I’ll handle this, and it won’t happen again," Han Yi thought Yu Xiaoxuan was angry because of something she had seen in the newspaper and gently reassured her.
Yu Xiaoxuan looked at him and spoke somberly, "Han Yi, in your eyes, am I just a woman unworthy of being seen in public, so that’s why you don’t want our relationship to be known?"
Her tone was so full of reproach that Han Yi’s hand jerked on the steering wheel, prompting him to slam on the brakes. Thankfully, the road was sparsely populated, or he would have been cursed at.
"My dear, wasn’t it you who said you didn’t want our relationship to be public to avoid rumors of secret dealings? And now you’re saying I’m the one unwilling to make it public? If you’re willing, I can announce to the world right now that you are my girlfriend," Han Yi retorted.
Yu Xiaoxuan pouted, "With so many girlfriends, who knows which is which?"
Han Yi inwardly complained, regretting for the first time that he hadn’t been more disciplined in the past. "How about I say you’re my fiancée, would that work?"
"You haven’t even proposed to me, and I haven’t agreed to marry you, who is your fiancée?"
Han Yi felt like crying, bowed deeply, and said, "Then tell me what to do; I’ll do whatever you say, is that okay?"
"That’s so insincere, there’s no real commitment." Yu Xiaoxuan was still unsatisfied. She admitted she was just picking a fight today, inexplicably brushed off with a check. She was upset, and naturally, she wasn’t going to show a good face to the person directly responsible.
Han Yi could now see clearly that something was off. "Xiao Xuan, did something unpleasant happen today?"
"Nothing. I’m hungry; let’s go eat," Yu Xiaoxuan said.
Han Yi looked at her suspiciously. "Are you really okay?"
"Oh come on, quit nagging, let’s go eat. I’m really starving."
"Okay, then let’s go eat. I know a new restaurant that just opened; I’ll take you there today."
"Alright."
After dinner, Yu Xiaoxuan and Han Yi went home. When Han Yi came out from the bathroom, he saw Yu Xiaoxuan sitting on his bed, still in her pajamas, and he raised an eyebrow.
"Cut out that look; I came here to talk today," Yu Xiaoxuan glared at him, tightening the belt of her robe.
Han Yi regretfully shifted his gaze and sat beside her, "Alright, what would you like to talk about?"
Yu Xiaoxuan stared at him, "Han Yi, we’ve known each other for so long, and apart from that one time you mentioned your deceased mother, you haven’t talked about other family members. What about your father?"
"Why are you suddenly asking about this?"
"I just thought of it. Tell me about your father."
Han Yi’s expression faded, and even his gaze was indifferent, "There’s nothing much to say."
"But he is your father after all. If we get married in the future, I’ll have to meet him, won’t I?"
Han Yi gave a slight smile, looking at her with interest, "So you want to marry me that bad?"
Yu Xiaoxuan rolled her eyes at him; he really couldn’t stay serious for more than three sentences, "I’m being serious."
Han Yi shrugged, "I’m serious too. Even if we get married in the future, we won’t live with him, so you don’t need to worry about him. Instead of trying to please him, you’d better treat me well."
Yu Xiaoxuan understood; it seemed Han Yi indeed had a bad relationship with his father. She handed over something she had been holding in her hand to Han Yi, "Here, this is what your stepmother gave me today."
Han Yi took the check from Yu Xiaoxuan’s hand, his face instantly darkening, "What was her condition for giving you the check?"
Yu Xiaoxuan shrugged, speaking nonchalantly, "What else? She asked me to leave you, said I wasn’t worthy of marrying into the Han Family, and that even if I entered the Han Family, I wouldn’t be acknowledged." Yu Xiaoxuan repeated everything Xia Fei had said to her to Han Yi without exaggeration, merely stating the facts objectively.
Han Yi’s face was grim, a storm brewing in his eyes. Seeing his angry expression, Yu Xiaoxuan wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips, "Don’t be angry, I wasn’t bullied." She then told Han Yi about her retort to Xia Fei. After finishing, she looked at Han Yi, her eyes filled with pride, "How about that, I’m quite impressive, right? I’m not so easily bullied."
Han Yi was amused by her request for praise, kissing the corner of her mouth, "Yes, you’re impressive, you did great. If she comes after you again, just fight back hard. I’ll take care of any trouble."
"Okay, Han Yi, I won’t leave, as long as you don’t betray me, I won’t leave you," Yu Xiaoxuan whispered in Han Yi’s ear.
Han Yi held her, his eyes filled with a warm smile, "Yes, I won’t leave you either."
********
The next day, after sending Yu Xiaoxuan to her company, Han Yi returned to the Han Family’s ancestral home. When he arrived, Han Zhengshan and Xia Fei were still not up, and the housekeeper, seeing it was him, greeted him as Young Master.
"Where’s the old man?" Han Yi asked.
The housekeeper pointed upstairs, "The master and madam haven’t gotten up yet, should I go call them now?" The housekeeper knew their salary was paid by Han Yi and naturally respected him, as he was their breadwinner.
"No need, I’ll just wait for them here. You can go about your tasks," Han Yi said, then sat down at the dining table, "Make me a breakfast, porridge would be good."
"Alright, Young Master, just a moment."
When Han Zhengshan came downstairs, Han Yi had almost finished eating. He wiped his mouth and stood up, "Oh, it’s truly ’the morning after is shorter than a night of passion’. Look at my dad, at his age, yet still so vigorous."
Han Zhengshan’s initially good mood vanished upon hearing Han Yi’s words. He looked at Han Yi and felt a pain in his eyes. If possible, he truly did not want to see Han Yi return. "What kind of madness is this early in the morning?"
Han Yi laughed, "I was complimenting your stamina, Dad. Don’t tell me your mind has become muddled to the point where you can’t recognize a compliment."
Han Zhengshan did not think it was a compliment at all. "If you have nothing else to do, go to work early. There is no need for you to worry about home."
Han Yi sat there, his face relaxed, showing no hurry to go to work. "I have my own plans for the company, there is no need for you to worry."
When Xia Fei saw Han Yi, she had a bad feeling. She had just visited Yu Xiaoxuan yesterday, and today Han Yi had returned home—it couldn’t be that he had come to settle scores, could it? But looking at his face, it seemed unlikely.
For a moment, Xia Fei did not know the purpose of Han Yi’s return. She could only sit down with Han Zhengshan and eat breakfast.
Han Yi just sat there watching them eat, not saying a word, his face full of enjoyment. Xia Fei felt uncomfortable under his gaze, took a couple of bites, put down her chopsticks, "Han Yi, have you eaten breakfast? If not, I can ask the maid to prepare something for you."
Han Yi scoffed, "Eating yours is enough."
Dismissed by Han Yi, Xia Fei felt dissatisfied but helpless. The Han Family was now under Han Yi’s control, and she didn’t have a say. She held back, picked up her chopsticks, and continued eating.
Han Zhengshan seemed to have grown accustomed to Han Yi’s attitude towards Xia Fei and did not take Han Yi’s words to heart, eating his breakfast at a leisurely pace.
After they finished eating and put down their chopsticks, Han Yi finally placed a check on the table. "Now that you have finished eating, let’s discuss serious matters."
The moment Xia Fei saw the check, she understood that Han Yi had indeed come to settle accounts.
Han Zhengshan picked up the check and looked at it, his eyes unfathomable. "What is this for?"
"I would like to ask the same of my dear father, what does giving Yu Xiaoxuan this check mean? Do you think your son is only worth this measly ten million?"
"I clearly gave her twenty million," Han Zhengshan said subconsciously.
Hearing this, Han Yi glanced at Xia Fei with a smile that was not quite a smile.
"Why are you looking at Feifei? This Yu Xiaoxuan is really not good material. She clearly took twenty million from me but told you it was only ten million. What, does she want to pocket the other ten million for herself?"
"Yu Xiaoxuan would never do such a thing. She doesn’t need that ten million. It’s rather certain people..." Han Yi glanced meaningfully at Xia Fei.
Xia Fei’s eyes drooped, and her hand clenched into a fist under the table. She truly hadn’t expected Yu Xiaoxuan to not only tell Han Yi but also to give him the check. Was she really not afraid that Han Yi would abandon her and leave her with nothing?
"Feifei would not do such a thing either. She has been with me for many years, and I know her well. It’s good that you know about this now. I absolutely will not agree to Yu Xiaoxuan entering the doors of the Han Family. Giving her some money now to send her away will save face for us. If it blows up later and negatively impacts her, don’t blame me for not warning you in advance."
Han Yi, with a smile on his lips and even his eyes filled with humor, although the humor did not reach the depths of his eyes and carried a chill, "My dear father, it seems that even until today you haven’t understood who really runs the Han Family. I have already said before, if you dare do anything to Yu Xiaoxuan, then your good days will be over. It hasn’t been a week since I spoke, and you have already forgotten, my father—should I say you have a bad memory, or is it intentional?"
Han Zhengshan’s face turned a steely blue, unable to utter a word.
Han Yi stood up, looking down at them from on high, "Since you refuse to heed my advice, I can only use facts to show you."
"Han Yi, what are you trying to do?" Xia Fei asked in fear.
Han Yi smiled mysteriously. "You will know soon."
He held the car keys in his hand, swinging them casually, with a nonchalant attitude. He swung out of the gate of the Han Family old mansion, and then drove to the Han Group.
After Han Yi left, Han Zhengshan looked at Xia Fei, "Feifei, where is the twenty million I gave you?"
Xia Fei knew this was coming, and smiled gently, "It’s here, and there’s ten million more with me. I intended to give it to you last night, but I was too tired and forgot. Even if Han Yi didn’t mention it, I was planning to give it to you today."
"Why not give her the full twenty million?" Han Zhengshan’s expression slightly softened upon hearing Xia Fei’s explanation, and he asked.
"This girl has never seen such a large amount of money, so I thought ten million would be sufficient," Xia Fei explained, but she didn’t expect to have been outmaneuvered by Yu Xiaoxuan.
"She might not have far-sightedness, but she is sufficiently greedy and sufficiently smart," Han Zhengshan remarked, his expression unreadable.
*******
As soon as he arrived at the Han Group, Han Yi instructed his assistant, "Find a way to buy the shares of the Han Group from my father’s hands, they must be twenty percent below the market price of the Han Group."
The assistant was startled, "Mr. Han, what did you just say?"
Han Yi’s expression turned slightly cold. "Didn’t you hear my words clearly?" He was always decisive and ruthless in business and didn’t like to repeat himself, a habit the assistant was well aware of.
"I heard you clearly, I’ll take care of it right away," the assistant nodded hurriedly, momentarily too shocked to respond.
Before the assistant left, Han Yi added, "Don’t let my dad know I’m the one buying, but once the transaction is successful, you can tell him that I was the one who bought his shares."
"Understood, Mr. Han," the assistant confirmed and left. He had been with Han Yi for many years and knew that the relationship between Han Yi and Han Zhengshan was not good, but he hadn’t expected it to be this severe.
Han Yi snorted coldly. Han Zhengshan thinks he is wealthy, going around spending money on Yu Xiaoxuan, then he would let him see who truly had more money.
Han Yi had long been aware of how many shares of the Han Group Han Zhengshan held; he simply hadn’t bothered because he didn’t care. No matter how many shares he had, he wouldn’t become the chairman of the Han Group.
************
"So you were dismissed with a check?" Shen Qinglan looked at Yu Xiaoxuan, asking amusedly.
Yu Xiaoxuan nodded, taking a sip of her soup, "And it was a whole ten million check. I never imagined such a clichéd scenario would actually happen to me. But I didn’t expect that I appeared so valuable in the eyes of the Han Family—a whole ten million! I’ve never even seen what ten million looks like."
Continuing, Yu Xiaoxuan felt some regrets. Why did she give the ten million to Han Yi at that time? She should have kept it for herself, preserved it as a keepsake, and later when her children grew up, she could take out the check, telling them how she wasn’t tempted by money and bravely chose their father.
Thinking this way, Yu Xiaoxuan felt even more regretful. She shared the idea with Shen Qinglan, "Don’t you think it’s quite meaningful?"
Shen Qinglan looked at her amusedly, "If you really want it, why not just ask Han Yi to get the check back for you?"
Yu Xiaoxuan immediately shook her head, "Let’s forget it, his stepmother looks cunning with hidden intentions, and she doesn’t seem much older than Han Yi. I’ve heard from Han Yi that this stepmother was already ambiguously involved with his father while his mother was still alive. I guess Han Yi’s relationship with his family is also quite strained."
Shen Qinglan’s face showed no emotion; although her relationship with Chu Yunrong had improved a lot and Chu Yunrong was starting to act more like a mother, Shen Qinglan still couldn’t feel extremely close to Chu Yunrong. Some feelings, once lost for too long, cannot be easily restored.
"However, Qinglan, since he has such a strained relationship with his family, what should I do if I marry him in the future?" Yu Xiaoxuan looked at Shen Qinglan anxiously.
"Are you already planning to marry Han Yi?" Shen Qinglan asked.
Faced with Shen Qinglan’s teasing gaze, Yu Xiaoxuan blushed, "Not really, I’m just thinking about it, since we’re going to get married eventually anyway."
"Xiao Xuan, it’s best to listen to Han Yi about this matter," Shen Qinglan advised. Yu Xiaoxuan thought about it and agreed, understanding that Han Yi was decisive and she didn’t need to worry so much about it. Most importantly, she wasn’t married to him yet, so there was no need to consider these issues.
"That’s true." Yu Xiaoxuan quickly finished the noodles in her bowl and then went with Shen Qinglan to attend their school graduation ceremony.
Today, the campus of B University was bustling, not only with its own students but also with many from other schools. These people were fans of Yu Xiaoxuan and Shen Qinglan, knowing that they would be attending the graduation ceremony at the school today, so they had arrived early to wait.
With too many visitors from other schools, the leaders of B University had to take measures, not allowing non-university students inside. Despite this, many people gathered at the school’s entrance.
The B University students felt a proud delight seeing those who wanted to enter but couldn’t. "Heh, your goddess is from our school, we get to interact with her up close, and you can only watch helplessly."
B University’s president was also very happy today, as B University had produced many outstanding students this year, especially Shen Qinglan, who was now being used by B University teachers as a role model to educate students. Although Yu Xiaoxuan’s fame wasn’t very high yet, her number of fans was rapidly increasing, her popularity was rising daily, and she had no negative press, which, for B University teachers, meant that having a big celebrity could boost the art performance department’s enrollment rate in the future.
From afar, Shen Qinglan and Yu Xiaoxuan glanced at the school entrance surrounded by a crowd, feeling overwhelmed. "Qinglan, with so many people, how are we going to get in?" Is it too late to regret not attending the ceremony now?
Shen Qinglan also felt a headache coming on. She looked at the crowd, took out her phone, and made a call to the president. Shortly after, several security guards from the school arrived and dispersed some of the crowd. Taking advantage of this interval, Yu Xiaoxuan and Shen Qinglan pulled down their hats to cover most of their faces and entered the campus through the path cleared by the security.
Some people recognized them, but since they had already entered, all they could do was shout towards the backs of Shen Qinglan and Yu Xiaoxuan.
"Phew, Qinglan, your fans are terrifying," Yu Xiaoxuan sighed in relief. The crowd at the door, half of them were there for Shen Qinglan.
Shen Qinglan also felt overwhelmed. She was grateful for these supporters, but she really couldn’t handle their enthusiasm.
When they arrived, B University’s president was already waiting for them at the auditorium entrance, "Did you encounter any issues on the way here?" he asked with a smile.
Shen Qinglan shook her head, "Thank you, President." Besides meeting a large group of fans at the entrance, once inside the school, although they occasionally received enthusiastic glances from fellow students, presumably because they had been instructed beforehand, no one approached them for autographs or photos.
As they entered the auditorium, just as Shen Qinglan and Yu Xiaoxuan were about to head to their class’s designated area, the president stopped her, "Shen, your seat is over there." He pointed to a spot on the first row on the side. "Today, I hope you can represent the outstanding graduates and give a speech."
Shen Qinglan looked at the spot the president pointed to, raising an eyebrow, "I haven’t prepared a speech."
"That’s okay, just say a few words," the president quickly replied, clearly determined to have Shen Qinglan speak.
Since the president had said so, Shen Qinglan felt she should oblige. Following the president, she exchanged a glance with Yu Xiaoxuan, who gave her an encouraging gesture.
