Chapter 200: Clumsy Mr. Fu
Chapter 200: Clumsy Mr. Fu
Wu Qian’s face was iron blue, "Shen Qinglan, what’s so great about you? You just happened to be born a bit better, if you were like me, maybe you wouldn’t even be as good as me now. On what standing do you have to accuse me? If it weren’t for you back in the bar, would I have fallen to this low?"
Back then at the bar, if Shen Qinglan had spoken clearly or simply taken her away, she wouldn’t have been... Chen Qingtian wouldn’t have despised her, they wouldn’t have broken up, and she wouldn’t have had to mingle among various men.
A trace of cold mockery flashed in Shen Qinglan’s eyes. You see, that’s human nature, disgustingly repulsive.
"I feel sad for your parents," Shen Qinglan said indifferently.
What Wu Qian hated the most now was people mentioning her parents and her family. Her face turned even more iron blue, but thinking of that two hundred thousand, only Shen Qinglan was capable of providing that sum, so she bore with it, pleading in a low voice, "Shen Qinglan, we were classmates and even roommates for three years, do you really refuse to lend me two hundred thousand?"
Shen Qinglan slightly paused her steps, gazing at Wu Qian, her eyes cold and unemotional, "I said, if it really was your parents who urgently needed the money, I would lend it, but is it really for them? Wu Qian, don’t lie to me, I’m not a fool, and don’t think too highly of yourself."
Shen Qinglan said nothing more and turned to leave. Watching her departing figure, Wu Qian’s face was filled with despair and deep hatred toward Shen Qinglan.
Ever since she had seen Shen Qinglan and that man in the mall last time, Zheng Feng had dumped her. Wu Qian didn’t care; she knew she could find another Zheng Feng, it was just a matter of time.
She returned to working as a hostess in a nightclub, mingling among various men and maintaining ambiguous relationships with them. Even though these men weren’t as generous as Zheng Feng, their combined contributions were still sizable.
But good things didn’t last long. She was caught red-handed by the wife of one of the men in a hotel, who, along with others, severely beat her and publicized her deeds. She became notoriously known in that small circle. Knowing that she was unclear with other men while following them, naturally, none of them wanted any further contact with her. The nightclub she used to frequent also fired her.
She thought changing to a different nightclub would suffice, but somehow offended someone crucial; every decent nightclub refused her, and she deemed the lesser ones beneath her. Without frequenting such nightlife spots, she couldn’t meet wealthy men, and soon, her finances grew tight.
She asked her family for money, but the financial condition back home was already strained. With a younger brother still depending on their parents, there wasn’t much money to spare for her—the money her parents sent couldn’t even buy her a handbag.
Just as she hesitated about going to a lower-tier nightclub, she coincidentally heard from a friend about easy-to-obtain "campus loans" which had low requirements and fast disbursement. After a brief hesitation, she went with her friend to take out a loan, not much, just fifty thousand, with the agreement to pay it back in half a month.
After getting the money, Wu Qian indulged in shopping, dressing herself up glamorously, and appeared in a high-end club in Beijing. Seeing the once familiar manager greet her with a beaming smile, Wu Qian felt immensely satisfied.
This time, she was lucky and met a man; the two of them spent about a week together. To her surprise, the man turned out to be a gigolo who not only had no money but was also relying on her financially. Frustrated, Wu Qian dumped him straight away.
But by then, the fifty thousand she borrowed was nearly spent. Consequently, she borrowed money again.
The debt snowballed, and when Wu Qian carefully calculated her borrowings, which had reached nearly one hundred and twenty thousand, she realized that the repayment day was nearly upon her, yet she didn’t have a penny in hand. Helplessly, she approached the person who had lent her the money, asking for a few days’ extension, only to be told that she owed them two hundred thousand with interest. Wu Qian was dumbfounded.
She argued with these creditors, but they threatened her with the IOUs and declared their intention to expose her to her school. Frightened by the prospect of being expelled just before graduation, Wu Qian was desperate.
She tried borrowing money everywhere but didn’t know any rich people except for the men she had been involved with. She even sought out Chen Qingtian, but his cold, disdainful gaze made her feel like trash, and his words were cruelly indifferent, completely disregarding their past relationship.
"Wu Qian, if this was in the past, I’d definitely have helped you if you asked," Chen Qingtian’s gaze swept over Wu Qian, "But now, who knows how many men you’ve been with. You’re so dirty, I’m afraid of getting sick. Better go to your other lovers."
Thinking back on Chen Qingtian’s expression and words, Wu Qian felt an agonizing pain in her heart. Her legs weakened, and she collapsed on the ground, her expression one of utter despair and savagery.
"You might as well ask me for help instead of her; I can help you," a cool voice tinged with a husky undertone suddenly arose behind Wu Qian.
Startled, Wu Qian swiftly turned around to see a long-haired woman leaning against the wall, watching her with interest.
This was a corner of the administrative building where people rarely came, and it was usually very quiet. Wu Qian had only come here because she had seen on social media that Shen Qinglan had come to the school and wanted to intercept her, but who was this woman, and how much had she seen of what had just happened?
The woman straightened up, smiled, and said, "Don’t be so nervous, I’m not your enemy." She looked down at Wu Qian with a detached gaze, "I can help you, and I can give you the two hundred thousand you need."
Wu Qian warily eyed the woman. Although her face was smiling, Wu Qian instinctively feared her. She wanted to run away, but the lure of two hundred thousand was too strong. This was the final deadline; if she couldn’t come up with the money, she might really be unable to stay in Beijing. She didn’t want to return to the small, poor, backward village. She didn’t want to end up like her mother, perpetually laboring in the fields, struggling just to provide the bare necessities for her family despite the harsh conditions.
Having seen the prosperity of the world, Wu Qian wanted to stay and live a carefree life like Shen Qinglan.
"What’s the condition?" Wu Qian asked, unable to utter a refusal. She knew this woman wouldn’t offer help without conditions.
The woman smiled again, pleased with Wu Qian’s response, crouched down, and looked directly into her eyes. "I can give you the money now; you don’t have to pay me back. The condition is that you help me with something, but I can’t tell you what it is right now. I’ll let you know later. However..." her tone shifted, "don’t think about taking the money and not doing the task. If you dare to renege, I have a hundred ways to make you regret it, you can try me if you don’t believe it."
Her voice was very soft, almost tender, yet Wu Qian shivered violently, "I won’t do anything like murder or arson." She wanted the money, but she didn’t want to risk her life for it.
The woman scoffed with full irony, "You, commit murder or arson?"
Wu Qian felt no annoyance but rather relieved; as long as it wasn’t about killing or arson, she wouldn’t do anything illegal. But she understood she was just a nobody; what could she possibly help this woman with?
The woman gave a slight smile and patted Wu Qian’s shoulder reassuringly, "Don’t worry, it’s definitely something you can do."
"When can I get the money?" Wu Qian asked, effectively agreeing. Regardless of what this woman wanted to do, as long as it wasn’t anything illegal, she wasn’t afraid.
Satisfied, the woman stood up, "Tomorrow, your account will be credited with two hundred thousand." Then she turned and left.
She walked away nonchalantly, while Wu Qian stood there bewildered, unsure how things had escalated to this point. The woman had walked off quickly, soon disappearing into the school; Wu Qian then remembered that the woman didn’t know her account number.
Yet, the next morning, Wu Qian received a mobile notification—her account was indeed credited with exactly two hundred thousand. Shocked, she tried to contact the woman from the day before, but she didn’t have her contact details. Since receiving the money, the woman hadn’t sought her out again. Wu Qian spent the day in anxiety and eventually couldn’t resist withdrawing the money from the bank and repaying the school loan provider.

After leaving the school, Shen Qinglan still had Fu Hengyi’s headache on her mind, so she made a call to Eden to ask what medicine to take for a headache, then visited a pharmacy before returning to the Fu Family’s large house.
"Are you going to see Hengyi?" Old Sir Fu looked at his granddaughter-in-law.
"Grandfather, is that not okay?" Shen Qinglan frowned; she knew that Fu Hengyi’s place of work was not open to casual visits, which is why she had come home first to ask Old Sir Fu.
Old Sir Fu smiled warmly, "You are Hengyi’s wife; why wouldn’t it be okay?" Fu Hengyi’s original military base was definitely off-limits; very few even knew about that place, let alone allowed outsiders. However, regarding the Beijing Military Region, Old Sir Fu thought, even if it’s not permissible for her to enter, he would find a way to let Shen Qinglan in.
"I called him last night, and his old headache problem was troubling him again; I’m a bit worried," Shen Qinglan said openly, unafraid of Old Sir Fu’s laughter since her feelings for Fu Hengyi were out in the open.
Old Sir Fu seemed even more pleased upon hearing this. "Then you definitely should visit. I’ll immediately have Xiao Zhao prepare some Gastrodia Soup, which is very effective for headaches. You should also pack a few sets of clothes to change into, and stay a few days at Hengyi’s place. This will let you see what his daily life is like."
Old Sir Fu had it well planned, suggesting Shen Qinglan stay a few more days to foster the bond with his grandson, and if a great-grandchild were to result from this opportunity, that would be even better. He was aware there were residences specifically for family members at the military base, and with Fu Hengyi’s rank, it was naturally available.
Shen Qinglan felt slightly awkward, well, she just wanted to see Fu Hengyi for a moment and then come right back, but she did not object to Old Sir Fu’s suggestion and faintly felt a sense of anticipation.
Aunt Zhao had heard the conversation between Shen Qinglan and Old Sir Fu, and with a smile, she went to the kitchen to stew the soup. It was not a hassle as they always kept Gastrodia on hand because Fu Hengyi occasionally suffered from headaches when he came home.
Shen Qinglan went upstairs to pack her clothes, planning to stay for a few days, so she needed to bring changes of clothing.
Old Sir Fu picked up the phone, called a former subordinate at the military base, spoke briefly, and hung up with a cheerful smile. Stroking his beard, he walked around the living room humming a tune, clearly in high spirits.
After dining with Old Sir Fu, Shen Qinglan initially planned to drive herself, but Old Sir Fu mentioned it was difficult for outside vehicles to enter the military region. He said a vehicle would come to pick her up and reassured Shen Qinglan to just wait.
Sure enough, before long, Shen Qinglan heard the sound of a car engine outside. When she went out, she saw a military off-road vehicle parked at the front.
A young man in military attire alighted from the vehicle, no, rather, a boy—a youthfulness evident on his face, clearly quite young.
"Hello, Old Sir." The young man saw Old Sir Fu, stood at attention, and gave a standard military salute.
Old Sir Fu, with smile, said, "Hello. I appreciate you making this trip."
"It’s no trouble at all. You’re too kind."
"Well then, grandfather, I’ll be going now," said Shen Qinglan, holding a small suitcase in one hand and a thermal flask, containing the Gastrodia Soup Aunt Zhao had prepared for Fu Hengyi, in the other.
The boy, observant, took Shen Qinglan’s suitcase and placed it in the trunk. His eyes momentarily brightened at the sight of Shen Qinglan’s face before quickly averting his gaze, his cheeks flushing slightly—although his darker skin tone made it less noticeable.
The boy knew this was the family of the new Captain Fu at the military base, but he had not expected her to be so young and beautiful.
It was no surprise the boy did not recognize Shen Qinglan; military life was less convenient than the outside world, and information didn’t circulate as swiftly. Moreover, their training routines left little room for focusing on such matters.
Shen Qinglan sat in the back, looking out the window. Not one for much conversation, she remained silent throughout the journey. Even if the boy wanted to speak, he dared not.
As the vehicle traveled deeper into seclusion, Shen Qinglan estimated the time—it had been an hour since they left the city. She hadn’t expected the Beijing Military Region to be situated so far away. However, the environment here was undeniably impressive, surrounded by trees and a vision of greenery, with notably fresh air.
There was a guard at the gate who, seeing the car approach, signaled it to stop. The boy lowered the window, and the guard, obviously recognizing him, looked towards Shen Qinglan in the back seat.
"She’s Captain Fu Hengyi’s family member, here to visit Captain Fu. It has been reported to the authorities already," the boy spoke up.
Upon hearing that it was a family member of Fu Hengyi, the guard’s look towards Shen Qinglan instantly changed, filled with admiration and curiosity.
Although Captain Fu only selected new soldiers in their Military Region and was responsible for training them, the rumors about him were plentiful, including the star adorning his shoulder that was worth exploring.
"Good day, sister-in-law." He gave Shen Qinglan a military salute and quickly let her pass. The young man drove into the Military Region and soon stopped the car.
Shen Qinglan was puzzled until she saw Fu Hengyi standing in front of the car, looking at her with a smile.
Taken aback, she opened the door and got out of the car. The young man also got out and took the luggage from the trunk, which Fu Hengyi naturally accepted, thanking the young man.
Once the young man had driven off, Fu Hengyi finally turned to Shen Qinglan. "What brings you here all of a sudden?"
He had just received a call from the guard booth. Knowing that Shen Qinglan was here, and already arrived, he had hurriedly handed off the training to Mu Liancheng and rushed over. It was only now that he understood the ambiguous smile the leader of the Military Region had given him two hours earlier.
It was the first time anyone in the Military Region saw the usually composed Fu Hengyi run so urgently, his face clearly displaying his joy.
"Grandfather asked me to bring you some Gastrodia Soup," Shen Qinglan said lightly, lifting the thermos in her hand.
Fu Hengyi smiled slightly and bent his head down a bit, bringing his mouth closer to her ear. "Is it just Grandfather wanting you to come, or did you miss me too?"
His breath fanned near Shen Qinglan’s ear. She slightly moved away, her expression slightly annoyed. "Fu Hengyi, we are in the Military Region."
Fu Hengyi stopped teasing her. With his free hand, he took her hand, not minding the curious glances from those around them. Shen Qinglan struggled briefly but didn’t break free, so she just let it be, pretending to be oblivious and calmly followed Fu Hengyi towards the dormitory building.
"You live here?" Shen Qinglan surveyed the one-bedroom apartment before her eyes, which was fully furnished, and the kitchen was equipped with various cookware and utensils.
"I just moved in. An hour ago," Fu Hengyi replied, putting Shen Qinglan’s suitcase into the bedroom.
Shen Qinglan immediately understood. This arrangement was made especially for her. "Am I causing you trouble?"
"Not at all, this house was prepared for me," he said. Previously, it was just more convenient for him to live in the barracks alone.
"This soup was freshly stewed by Aunt Zhao today; you better drink it while it’s hot." Shen Qinglan took a bowl from the kitchen, poured the soup into it, and handed it to Fu Hengyi. He took it, drank it in one gulp, then entered the kitchen to wash the bowl.
"Have you had lunch?" Fu Hengyi asked, concerned that Shen Qinglan might be hungry.
"I ate already. I came here after having lunch with Grandfather," Shen Qinglan responded while walking into the bedroom to arrange her clothes.
Her suitcase was on the floor next to the wardrobe. She opened the wardrobe to find it empty but clean, clearly having been cleaned out.
"Where are your clothes?" Shen Qinglan looked up at Fu Hengyi.
"In the dormitory, can you accompany me to get them later?"
"Okay." Shen Qinglan took out her clothes and placed them one by one into the wardrobe, filling only half of the space; she left the other half for Fu Hengyi.
On leaving with Fu Hengyi, they encountered a woman in her thirties at the door, of very ordinary appearance, "Hengyi, is this your wife?" The woman’s smile was hearty, and although she looked Shen Qinglan up and down, it wasn’t off-putting.
Fu Hengyi called out "sister-in-law" and introduced Qinglan, "This is Brother Zhang’s wife, you can just call her Sister-in-law Zhang. Sister, this is my wife, Shen Qinglan."
Shen Qinglan greeted, calling out "Sister-in-law."
Sister-in-law Zhang grinned, holding Shen Qinglan’s hand, "I’ve seen you on TV, girl, you are quite skilled and your painting is wonderful. Hengyi is fortunate to have married you."
Her husband had been a soldier under Old Sir Fu, so she was familiar with both the Fu Family and the Shen Family. Moreover, her husband and Fu Hengyi were close friends. Although neither family had publicly announced the marriage, those who needed to know were aware. Seeing Shen Qinglan with Fu Hengyi today wasn’t a surprise to her.
Fu Hengyi kept a warm smile on his face, offering no rebuttal. Shen Qinglan, on the other hand, glanced at the hand holding hers, feeling somewhat uncomfortable. She wasn’t accustomed to such fervor, but she refrained from pulling away.
Sister-in-law Zhang continued, "You’ll probably be staying here for a while, right?"
Hesitant and looking at Fu Hengyi for a cue, Fu Hengyi nodded his head. "Sister-in-law, Qinglan has just arrived and there are many things she isn’t familiar with yet. I hope she can rely on your help in the days to come."
Sister-in-law Zhang laughed heartily, "Hey, it’s nothing. I usually just wash clothes, cook, and take care of the children; I don’t have much else to do. If you don’t mind, we can chat together. My home is just above yours, come over anytime you’re free."
Being a military wife, her husband was busy with the troop all day and only returned home at night, leaving her plenty of free time during the day.
Shen Qinglan smiled and nodded, "Thank you, sister-in-law."
Sister-in-law Zhang waved her hand, "It’s a small matter, you don’t need to thank me. I have to go pick up my child, so I’ll leave you two. Come over for dinner tonight; you should also try my cooking."
"Hengyi, make sure to bring your wife to our house for dinner." Worrying Shen Qinglan might refuse, Sister-in-law Zhang reminded Fu Hengyi.
Fu Hengyi promised with a smile, watching Sister-in-law Zhang leave. Shen Qinglan then softly spoke, "Are people here always this... warm?"
"Sister-in-law Zhang is from the Northeast; she’s naturally very warmhearted and a wonderful person. If you ever feel bored, you can chat with her," said Fu Hengyi.
He knew that Shen Qinglan didn’t have many friends; the only ones he had ever met were Yu Xiaoxuan and Fang Tong.
Shen Qinglan nodded, and together they went to retrieve Fu Hengyi’s spare clothes and toiletries from the dormitory where he used to live. Along the way, they attracted many curious glances—news about Fu Hengyi’s romantic life was rare, virtually non-existent.
Previously, there had been rumors about Doctor Jiang having a liking for Captain Fu, and everyone thought she might end up with Fu Hengyi. However, Fu Hengyi had now brought another woman, and it seemed their relationship wasn’t ordinary; you should have seen Fu Hengyi even held the girl’s hand as they walked.
But this girl was indeed prettier than Doctor Jiang. Just from appearances, this girl overshadowed Doctor Jiang by leaps and bounds—no wonder Captain Fu wouldn’t consider Doctor Jiang when he had such a beauty at home.
Everyone smiled ambiguously, and some recognized Shen Qinglan, but they were a minority. With Fu Hengyi by her side, no one approached to greet her; at most, they saluted her from a distance.
Shen Qinglan remained composed, merely feeling a bit uneasy as she was observed like a "Houzi." Finally, they reached the bottom of the dormitory building, and Shen Qinglan let out a gentle sigh.
Fu Hengyi chuckled lightly, "So there are still things you can’t handle."
Shen Qinglan gave him a glance; it was all because of him.
"Is this where you live?" Shen Qinglan sized up Fu Hengyi’s living quarters, which were very small, roughly just 10 square meters. It contained only a bed, a desk, a chair, a wardrobe, and a bathroom, but it was very clean.
Shen Qinglan walked into the bathroom, saw a basin on the floor with Fu Hengyi’s clothes in it, and looked at Fu Hengyi with a partly smiling expression.
Fu Hengyi held his forehead; he had a severe headache last night, planned to sleep after a bath, and left the clothes there to wash them tonight. However, Shen Qinglan happened to visit and saw them, making Fu Hengyi feel a bit embarrassed. Well, usually he was definitely a clean person.
Shen Qinglan rolled up her sleeves, about to wash the clothes when Fu Hengyi stopped her, "Let me do it, the water is very cold." Although it was spring, the water was still cold.
Shen Qinglan smiled slightly, "Fu Hengyi, I’m not made of glass." She wouldn’t break at a mere touch.
Fu Hengyi didn’t object anymore, leaning against the bathroom door, watching Shen Qinglan squatting down to wash his clothes, a gentle smile on his lips.
"Fu Hengyi, help me tie up my hair." Shen Qinglan spoke; her hair kept falling in front of her eyes, which was inconvenient. Fu Hengyi straightened up. "Where is the elastic band?"
Shen Qinglan stood up and slightly turned to the side, "In the right pocket of my pants." She had casually put the elastic band there in the morning.
Fu Hengyi reached out; the fabric of the pants was thin, inevitably touching the skin on Shen Qinglan’s thigh. Even through a layer of fabric, feeling the warm touch beneath his hand, Fu Hengyi could imagine how smooth that skin was.
Fu Hengyi’s palm felt hot against Shen Qinglan’s skin, and she could distinctly feel the warmth, "Fu Hengyi," she said softly.
Fu Hengyi, a bit distracted, hummed absentmindedly, his mind filled with some inappropriate images. Shen Qinglan saw his expression and knew what he was thinking, slightly speechless.
Fu Hengyi took the elastic band out of the pocket, looking at Shen Qinglan’s hair and feeling a bit worried, "How should I tie it?" He had never tied a girl’s hair before.
"Just tie it any way." Shen Qinglan turned around to facilitate Fu Hengyi’s hair tying.
Fu Hengyi slightly furrowed his brows, still feeling clueless. Shen Qinglan waited for a while, and seeing no action from him, turned back to see Fu Hengyi holding the elastic band, his brow furrowed in deep thought as if pondering some major life issue.
"Never mind, I’ll do it myself." Shen Qinglan washed her hands, planning to do it herself since this person clearly was clueless.
"No need, I’ll do it." Fu Hengyi was eager to try; his wife rarely asked him to do something, and he always wanted a chance to show what he could do.
Shen Qinglan turned around again.
Fu Hengyi placed the hair tie on the washstand, and reached to pick up Shen Qinglan’s hair. Her hair was smooth and glossy, feeling like soft satin to the touch.
Fu Hengyi grabbed one side, but a few strands of hair slipped through his fingers. Holding onto the hair with one hand, he reached for the remaining strands with the other, then picked up the hair tie and threaded it through.
The moment he let go, the hair tie slipped off her hair.
Fu Hengyi: ...
Shen Qinglan: ...
"Forget it, I’ll do it myself." Shen Qinglan leaned over to pick up the hair tie, quickly tying her hair. Fu Hengyi watched her movements intently. "Let me try one more time."
Shen Qinglan gave him a speechless look, as if to say, was he picking a fight with her hair? Yet she obliged, removing the hair tie and handing it to Fu Hengyi.
Fu Hengyi imitated how Shen Qinglan had done it, threading the hair tie through her hair and carefully wrapping it a few extra times to prevent it from slipping again.
"Ouch," Shen Qinglan winced slightly as a tuft of her hair got caught in the hair tie when Fu Hengyi tugged on it, causing pain.
Fu Hengyi got nervous, "What’s wrong, did I hurt you?"
Shen Qinglan shook her head, but she forgot that her hair was still in Fu Hengyi’s hand, causing that same tuft of hair to be pulled again. She frowned slightly, "It’s fine."
Fu Hengyi, clearly flustered, said, "Forget it, you should do it yourself, I don’t want to hurt you again."
Shen Qinglan took the hair tie, and a few strands of hair fell to the floor. Actually, not just a few strands, but many.
Fu Hengyi looked frustrated, glancing at his own hands. He had always thought he was quite capable, but now he couldn’t even tie hair properly.
After Shen Qinglan had tied her hair, she looked at the troubled figure, "Fu Hengyi, I’m thirsty."
Fu Hengyi snapped out of it and immediately went to get her some water. But there was no hot water left in the room. After informing Shen Qinglan, he took the kettle and left the room to find some downstairs.
"Hengyi, are you there?" A female voice came from outside the door, which Shen Qinglan recognized immediately as the voice she had heard on the phone with Zi’an the night before.
Her eyes flickered as Shen Qinglan got up to answer the door. Jiang Wenjing, seeing the person behind the door, looked somewhat perplexed.
"Hello, I’m looking for Fu Hengyi, is he here?" Jiang Wenjing smiled politely.
"He’s not here; he went downstairs to fetch water. You might need to wait for him for a bit."
"Oh," Jiang Wenjing hesitated. She was holding a box of pain relief medicine.
Jiang Wenjing had just heard someone in the Military Region say that Fu Hengyi had brought a woman in, apparently his wife. Panicked, she had grabbed some medicine and rushed here, wanting to see what kind of woman Fu Hengyi had chosen.
The door had been answered by a stranger, and putting together Fu Hengyi’s mention of being married, it wasn’t hard to guess this woman’s identity. What she hadn’t expected was that Fu Hengyi’s wife would be so beautiful.
Before seeing Shen Qinglan, Jiang Wenjing was quite confident about her own looks. But after meeting her, she suddenly felt that if she were a man, she might have chosen this woman too.
"Did you need Hengyi for something? If it’s not urgent, I can pass on the message; I’m his wife," Shen Qinglan spoke coolly, her gaze icy.
Despite her emotionless eyes, they made Jiang Wenjing feel extremely embarrassed, "Well, I came to bring him some medicine. It’s pain relief, in case he feels a headache. Since he’s not here, I’ll leave it with you."
Jiang Wenjing handed over the medicine to Shen Qinglan, who took it, looked at it, and said thank you.
"You’re welcome." Jiang Wenjing hurriedly replied and turned away with quick steps.
"Who was that just now?" Fu Hengyi came upstairs after fetching the water, catching only a glimpse of Jiang Wenjing’s jacket.
Shen Qinglan shook the box of medicine in front of Fu Hengyi, with a teasing smile, "Your admirer."
Fu Hengyi instantly understood and smiled faintly, "Didn’t madam cut off this peach blossom?"
"Dare I? If I mess it up, you’d blame me in the future," Shen Qinglan’s expression seemed serious but playful.
Fu Hengyi set the kettle on the table, took the medicine from Shen Qinglan’s hand, set it aside, then wrapped his arms around her waist and looked down at her, "I am a tree planted in madam’s garden, belonging only to madam. If anyone else dares to covet it, madam can just take the scissors to it. Your husband won’t have any objections."
"Little sister-in-law, big brother, are you guys inside?" Gu Yang’s voice boomed outside the door, making Fu Hengyi’s face darken and veins pop on his forehead. He had never, like in this moment, wanted to kick that damn fool outside the door.
And little did Fu Hengyi know, that in the future, he would experience this same situation more than once, making him regret a hundred times over having that bratty kid.
Shen Qinglan’s eyes regained clarity, looking first in the direction of the door, then at Fu Hengyi’s repressed appearance. She couldn’t help but laugh out loud, already picturing Gu Yang’s miserable future.
Gu Yang had no idea he had interrupted a significant moment. He continued to knock on the door, "Big brother, I heard little sister-in-law is here, is it true?"
Interrupted at such a crucial moment, Fu Hengyi felt like murdering someone. He got up from the bed, straightened Shen Qinglan’s clothes, his face gloomy, and his body radiating coldness all over.
Shen Qinglan cupped his face, "Alright, no need to be angry, we’ll continue tonight."
Fu Hengyi’s mood did not lighten with her words. After making sure Shen Qinglan’s clothes were neat, he finally went to open the door.
Gu Yang met Fu Hengyi’s icy gaze, shivering, "Big... big brother." Why did he look at him with such eyes? He was really scared.
