Chapter 125: 125. Refuse to Help the Dying? (Fourth Shift)
As soon as Wu Qian came back, she acted like a mad dog, and now she even snatched her phone; even someone with Fang Tong’s easy-going nature couldn’t tolerate it.
"It’s none of your business."
Shen Qinglan was somewhat puzzled when she received a call from Fang Tong, having just chatted with her on WeChat. She wondered why calls were suddenly coming in, but still answered.
Listening to the sounds of Fang Tong and Wu Qian arguing over the line, Shen Qinglan’s eyes flickered.
"Shen Qinglan, you did this on purpose, right?" Wu Qian’s accusing voice came through the phone.
Shen Qinglan thought to herself, "Just as I expected."
"Yesterday, you could have made things clear to me, but you deliberately left things half-said. You just wanted to make a fool of me, didn’t you?" Wu Qian shouted into the phone, venting her inner dissatisfaction and resentment.
If only Shen Qinglan had made things clear last night or taken her away, she wouldn’t have ended up being... by Zhou Liang.
But Shen Qinglan, knowing full well that those two were trouble, still left her alone at the bar. That was equivalent to leaving her to die.
"I already warned you yesterday; you just didn’t believe it," Shen Qinglan said coolly.
"Was that supposed to be a warning? You were clearly enjoying my misfortune. Do you find it funny that I was blind enough to choose such a man? And now I’m just as you wished. Are you happy now?"
Shen Qinglan’s expression cooled, as she sat on the balcony, raising her eyes to look at the azure sky, her lips curled in a slight mocking smile. Enxi was right; one really shouldn’t be too kind.
"We have nothing to do with each other. Whether you are well or not has nothing to do with me. I don’t need to watch your spectacle, nor do I find anything about you humorous. Wu Qian, don’t take others’ kindness for granted."
Shen Qinglan hung up the phone, and Wu Qian yelled at the disconnected call, "Shen Qinglan, you vicious woman, you will not die a good death."
Fang Tong seized the moment to snatch her phone back, "Wu Qian, what madness is this?"
Wu Qian sneered at Fang Tong, "I’m driven mad because of Shen Qinglan. Be careful, or one day Shen Qinglan will sell you off without you knowing."
After saying that, Wu Qian left the dorm room and Fang Tong didn’t ask where she went. From Wu Qian’s words, she had vaguely guessed the reason.
She tried to call Shen Qinglan, but Shen Qinglan didn’t pick up, so Fang Tong thought about it and sent a WeChat message to Ding Minghui to cancel their meeting that afternoon and took a taxi to Shen Qinglan’s house.
Shen Qinglan was somewhat surprised to see Fang Tong, "What are you doing here?"
Fang Tong looked at her, "Are you alright?" Wu Qian had said some very nasty things on the phone, and Fang Tong was worried about Shen Qinglan.
"What could happen to me?" Shen Qinglan said. Wu Qian really didn’t have that much influence over her; after all, in Shen Qinglan’s eyes, Wu Qian was just an insignificant person.
But Shen Qinglan forgot that often it’s precisely such insignificant people who can ruin things. Shen Qinglan would never have guessed that this insignificant person, harboring resentment towards her, would cause her such trouble one day in the future.
Fang Tong entered the house, "As long as you’re alright. What’s going on with Wu Qian, acting crazy as soon as she arrived today?"
Shen Qinglan could probably guess what had happened last night but saw no need to mention it; it would only sully her friend’s ears.
"Who knows?"
Seeing that Shen Qinglan didn’t want to elaborate, Fang Tong didn’t press further but brought up another matter, "My father’s transfer order has come through; he’ll be returning to Beijing by the end of the year."
"Congratulations." Given Fang Weishan’s capabilities, his transfer back to Beijing was only a matter of time; Shen Qinglan wasn’t surprised.
Fang Tong was also happy; she and her mother lived in Beijing, and only her father was alone in Lin City. Even though Lin City was not far from Beijing—a three-hour drive—it still meant they couldn’t live together. Now that her father could move back to Beijing and live with them, Fang Tong was naturally thrilled.
"I plan to bring Ding Minghui home once my father returns at the end of the year," Fang Tong said.
Qinglan glanced at him, "Have you already planned everything?"
"Yep, Minghui said he has successfully stayed at Junlan Group, and as long as he graduates, he can become a regular employee. Junlan Group is indeed a large company, and with this job, Minghui will feel more confident when he visits my family. Moreover, he’s graduating next year and wants to get engaged after graduation."
Qinglan was surprised, as she had never expected that these two were already discussing marriage. Originally, this girl had said she definitely wouldn’t marry before she was twenty-six.
"Does he already know about your family situation?"
"I haven’t told him yet. It’s almost the end of the year, I’ll tell him then." Fang Tong’s face was full of smiles whenever she mentioned Ding Minghui.
Qinglan smiled faintly, saying nothing.
"By the way, Qinglan, are you free tomorrow?" Fang Tong asked.
"Why?"
"Yu Xiaoxuan said she’s free tomorrow at noon and wants to have lunch with us."
"Okay."
**
The next day at noon, Qinglan drove Fang Tong to Shengxuan.
She called Yu Xiaoxuan, who said she would come down right away.
"Little sister-in-law, what are you doing here?" Han Yi appeared beside the car, greeting Qinglan.
Since the car was a gift from Han Yi to Fu Hengyi and Fu Hengyi was currently in the army, naturally, it wouldn’t be him. The only other person who could drive Fu Hengyi’s car was Qinglan, so Han Yi came over to check, and indeed, he was right.
"Waiting for someone," Qinglan replied, ever so concise.
Han Yi, with a quick glance, knew whom she was waiting for. He peeked into the back seat of Qinglan’s car and noticed Fang Tong, "Hi, beautiful, nice to meet you."
His smile was radiant, his peach blossom eyes shining brightly, and Fang Tong was momentarily dazzled by their radiance, her admiration plainly visible.
Han Yi, used to such gazes, found the quick recovery of the girl quite amusing.
"Hello," Fang Tong responded, politely greeting.
"Qinglan." Yu Xiaoxuan just walked out of the company’s entrance and saw Qinglan. She shouted and ran over.
Watching her rushing over so impetuously, Han Yi shook his head. Wasn’t Linda supposed to be training her? Why was she still so reckless and lacking ladylike grace?
Because Han Yi had arrived, Qinglan was currently getting out of her car and leaning on the car door, which allowed Yu Xiaoxuan to spot her so quickly.
"Qinglan, I finally see you. It’s been a few days. Did you miss me?" Yu Xiaoxuan rushed toward her.
Naturally, Qinglan couldn’t dodge, so she just extended an arm to keep Yu Xiaoxuan at arm’s length.
"Mind your image," Qinglan reminded her. Although Yu Xiaoxuan was not yet famous, she was still a celebrity and needed to be mindful of her public image.
Yu Xiaoxuan stuck out her tongue playfully.
Han Yi chuckled lightly. Only then did Yu Xiaoxuan realize there was a stranger present. Recognizing who the stranger was, her crescent-moon eyes widened slightly, "Big boss, what are you doing here?"
She was an artist under Shengxuan’s label, naturally recognizing Han Yi.
