Chapter 495: Chapter 496: Familiar Overture

"Chu You... Are you listening to me?" The smartphone was silent, and Lin Luo couldn’t help but grow anxious.

"Is what you said... really true?" After a pause, Chu You, in the car, narrowed his eyes. The car was already parked, but he didn’t get out. Bao’er sat quietly in the passenger seat, staring mysteriously at her older brother, utterly silent.

Zhao Feiyan also parked her car. In her field of view, Chu You’s car had already been turned off, but no one was emerging from it, so she could only stay in her own vehicle.

"Absolutely. Why would I joke about something so absurd! Chu You, do you believe what I’m saying?"

How should he respond?! Never before had he felt so choked up, as if something was stuck in his throat. It was hard for Chu You to speak.

Taking a deep breath and staring blankly at the blazing light outside the window, Chu You’s eyes focused and he replied in a heavy voice.

"I believe you!"

"I believe what you’re telling me is true."

"Do...do you share my predicament?" Hearing him say this, Lin Luo felt as if she had found something to cling onto.

"I, I do!" Chu You admitted, but immediately added, "But your situation is different from mine."

"So, did you... infect... umm... pass this supernatural phenomenon onto me?" Feeling ’infect’ was a loaded term, Lin Luo corrected herself.

"Probably I did, I didn’t even know I had such weird characteristics. Are you afraid of having such an ability?"

"... I’m okay with it, I guess. So, what kind of supernatural power do you possess?" Lin Luo’s first three words were spoken slowly and vaguely, as she herself was unsure whether she yearned for or resisted this power; therefore, she merely mumbled that it was okay. Then she moved onto the topic of real interest.

"Let’s talk about this when you get back. It’s hard to explain over the phone."

"Okay, that’s fine. I have a lot to discuss with you, Chu You. I want to return tomorrow." Lin Luo was full of burning curiosity and desire.

"Tomorrow won’t work. I have something important to take care of and I won’t be at home. I’ll probably be busy for the next few days." Hearing her brother say this, Bao’er lit up. What important matter could her brother have to deal with?!

"Is it really that important?" Lin Luo’s voice dropped significantly, she felt a kind of inner hurt unseen before.

Hearing the decrease in her tone, Chu You continued, "This is the most meaningful first step in my life. I can’t tell you now, but you will know in the future."

Lin Luo’s eyes flickered, hearing the gravity in her boyfriend’s tone. Unknowingly, her mind recalled the real gun in Chu You’s bedroom! At this thought, her heart was filled with anxiety, but she did not know how to voice out her concern.

"Is it official business or personal matters?"

Chu You wasn’t sure why Lin Luo asked that,"It’s both. That’s all there is to it."

"Alright then..." Realizing the unwilling pain hidden in his voice, Lin Luo didn’t know what else to say.

"Get some rest early, don’t think unnecessary thoughts. I’ll tell you what you want to know later. I’m hanging up."

"Okay, you... don’t be impulsive in anything you do, okay, bye."

"Bye." After hanging up, Chu You blinked. What did Lin Luo mean by asking him not to be impulsive? Had she already guessed what he was going to do tomorrow?

"Brother, maybe we should skip the movie today." Suddenly, Bao’er, sitting next to him, suggested.

"What’s wrong, Bao’er? We’ve already decided on a movie. Were you affected by earlier? Haha... It’s just some important things that need to be dealt with at the company, don’t worry. I’ve got everything under control. Let’s go, let’s get out of the car."

"Oh..."

Zhao Feiyan didn’t follow them. She sat quietly in her car. All she had to do was wait for the two to return and follow them. Now it was time for her to think carefully about the situation.

After buying some snacks, Chu You and Bao’er picked a popular art film, bought two tickets, and entered the cinema.

Since the movie had not officially started, the lights in the theater hall were still on. For some unknown reason, there weren’t many people in the theater that day. The scattered audiences took their seats, and then Chu You and Bao’er took their own seats.

When the hall was dimming for the movie to start, Chu You noticed there were no more people coming in at the entrance.

Suddenly, a voice broke the silence.

"The first online casino in Macau is now open, with beautiful female croupiers dealing cards online..."

Chu You glanced back surreptitiously, a single men sitting five rows behind him with lowered head, the light from his smartphone screen reflected on his face. There was no one around him, and he seemed to be watching the phone screen with unbridled glee.

At the same time, the movie sound system started to play. The man’s phone volume was actually quite low, but Chu You still heard it clearly. He also noticed that other audience members didn’t seem to be aware of it. The room was sparse and a movie just happened to start playing, effectively covering up the sound from the phone.

A merciless smirk emerged on Chu You’s face. It was indeed strange: watching a ’little movie’ in the cinema, that man sure had a unique style.

He quickly stole a glance at Bao’er beside him. She didn’t seem to have heard the obscene sounds from behind. But this would not affect Chu You’s upcoming course of action.

All of a sudden, another abrupt sound echoed in the hall, this time drawing the attention of all the viewers as it sounded like an explosion!

’Bang!’ It was followed by a scream.

Chu You distinctly felt Bao’er startled, he sighed and thought— his way of dealing with things was somewhat crude and brutal!

The single man, who was previously engrossed in watching his little movie, found his phone suddenly exploding, damaging both of his hands which were bleeding profusely.

It was precisely at that moment, Chu You unleashed his telekinetic power, accurately targeting the guy’s phone battery. With a simple thought, his mission was accomplished.

The spectators around him remained indifferent, none offering to help, just casting curious gazes.

After a few cries of pain, the injured man had no choice but to get up and quickly leave.

In the silence of the movie theater, Chu You could detect a faint smell of blood, his cruel smile emerging once again.

...

After the movie, Chu You asked, "Bao’er, what do you think?"

"Hmm... It’s very contemporary, although the protagonist is rather pitiable."

"This movie failed to capture the essence the original novel aimed to convey. All in all, Bao’er and I think that the movie was quite good."

"Brother, you’ve read the original novel of this movie?" Bao’er looked at him incredulously.

"Hehe, I did some research, let’s go now." Of course, Chu You hadn’t read the original novel, but in his previous life, he had seen this film. Back then, the movie theater was crowded, unlike the present. Thus, he was able to glean some reviews about this film, which was why he said what he did.

Well, if he wasn’t bluffing then, he was on the road to bluffing. It couldn’t be helped, the advantages of being reborn were constantly influencing him.
