Chapter 383: Chapter 384 - A matter of seconds
"Damn it! Have you guys no shame? Using such a big threat to intimidate me!" Wolf Wolang touches his chest, putting on a surprised expression and jests. The crowd behind him follows suit and starts laughing.
"Ahh, I’ve long said it, sneaky bitches will always be sneaky bitches; even their members are all birds of a feather!" Wolf Xiao Le follows suit, with a face full of scorn.
"Who is this wild chicken, always making a fuss for himself? Who do you think you are? You don’t even have the qualification to talk here! Wolang, whether you believe it or not is up to you!" A male player in Northern World first insulted Wolf Xiao Le, then issued a stern warning to Wolf Wolang.
Wolf Xiao Le turns his head towards Wolf Wolang, his face filled with grievance. The latter’s face changes and is filled with anger. There are so many people on the scene, all of them are his brothers and sisters who follow him, Wolang. If he chooses to back down now, his credibility would be greatly damaged. How could he face people in the future?
"I really can’t believe it!"
...
After Chu You and Lin Luo meet at the teleportation array, they both head to the ’Jade Void Gate’. This is the place where Chu You first came to Huaxia Central City. After speaking with the gatekeeper, they both enter. Just like before, there were numerous high-level NPCs, all of them looking at them with cold, arrogant expressions.
Ignoring these NPCs, the two of them reallocate to a small platform. Standing here are three elderly men with an immortal style, with their white hair floating, and their auras were outstanding.
"Clap, clap!" The elder on the left claps his hands, a face full of admiration as he looks at Chu You and says, "Night Ghost, do you still remember this place? And where are you planning to go this time?"
"Haha, you little fellow, doing pretty good. Managed to capture an enemy town in North America letting our Great God Dragon exert its strength. Your contribution is impressive!" Another elder chimed in. He obviously heard about Chu You’s deeds in North America.
"From the moment you went to the Northern World, I knew you would make a difference there. as expected, you did not disappoint me." The last white-robed elder said.
"Tell me, where do you want to go this time?"
"Ahem, I’m not going to the Northern World this time, I want to go to Yan Kingdom!" Chu You revealed his intentions. If he were to enter Yan Kingdom through the space-time rift, he would definitely encounter trouble along the way and waste a lot of time. Since his journey this time had significant gains, and since the goal was clear, it would be better to teleport from here. Although the price was steep, it was not a problem for him.
"Oh, where in Yan Kingdom?"
"Going to Changle City in Yan Kingdom, please teleport me and my friend here together."
"Mn, 50,000 Gold Coins for both of you."
"Talking about money ruins the mood..."
"Haha, rules are rules."
Once again, a space-time rift appears before them, unlike the last time when he was teleporting to the North America, where three people were required to construct a space-time rift together, for teleporting within Huaxia, a single elder is enough to handle it.
After paying 50,000 Gold Coins, both of them enter the space-time rift in front, and finally, Chu You and Lin Luo were randomly teleported to a certain location in Changle City, Yan Kingdom.
This place was a woodland area. Looking around, they didn’t see a single player. Apart from the noises of birds and beasts, there were no other sounds. The woodland environment was complex and full of thorns. However, this did not deter Chu You and Lin Luo. After checking their current coordinates, both of them use their wings and begin to elevate higher and higher until the ground was fading away.
"Chu You, where to?" Lin Luo already knows the other party’s exact location, but even if you know, what’s the use? Game coordinates are a very difficult thing to understand, a total of nine digits where each digit change represents a different direction and a different position. Even if you told others your coordinate position, others would not be able to reach the coordinate location without a thorough understanding of the map or without spending a lot of time, and this isn’t even considering the travel time.
In the past life, most players, even in the later stages of the game, were still not proficient in this skill and often made mistakes in their judgment. Chu You, however, was different. After experiencing various events, he had learned this ’navigation’ skill.
After looking around, his eyes filled with thought, he finally tells Lin Luo, "Let’s go here, stay close to me." After saying that, he flies in the southeast direction.
The area was level 25-30. Chu You and Lin Luo weren’t flying very high. They could see a team of six players clearing stages from time to time. When they noticed something off above, they all looked up, but the two of them were too high up. They could not lock onto them, nor could they determine whether Chu You and Lin Luo were friend or foe.
They also noticed some solo assassins attempting to try their luck at finding treasure chests or similar items. These players usually took rest in the trees, oblivious to the presence of Chu You and the others above them.
Gradually, as they got closer to their desired coordinates, they were surrounded by a bleak, oppressive aura. They first noticed a cave, and a glance below revealed the players on both sides in a standoff.
"We’ve arrived. Let’s head down," Chu You said as he lowered his altitude, with Lin Luoer following closely behind.
The Northern World Guild players were the first to notice the anomalous presence above them–Chu You descending from their line of sight. They recognized the two figures dropping from the sky, along with their tags. Their hearts soared in excitement. Night Ghost was here!
Meanwhile, the Battle Wolf Guild players had already drawn their weapons - ready to finish off the four Northern World Guild members and take control of the cave entrance, anticipating reinforcements later. Clearly, there were BOSSes inside the cave, which accounted for the guards outside.
As the atmosphere tensed and a clash seemed imminent, Bei Shi Xiao Zhouzhou pointed towards Night Ghost and yelled, "Look closely, you idiots! Do you see who that is?"
Some of the Battle Wolf Guild players standing behind Wulang had also noticed Night Ghost but had not had the chance to inform their leader. They too were in disbelief at what was unfolding before their eyes–the Northern World Guild certainly wasn’t lacking in resources.
Following the girl’s pointing finger, the Battle Wolves at the front look back and quickly realize it was two Yan Kingdom players above them; one of whom they could recognize instantly, even if he were but ashes.
Night Ghost’s weapon had transformed...
Chu You, carrying his Pig-killing Knife, walked through the fallen leaves till he was 20 meters from the others, and then stopped. Seeing the Battle Wolf players looking nervous, he paused, considering it a safe distance.
"Night Ghost, hurry up! We’ve been waiting for you," shouted Xiao Zhouzhou, seeing Night Ghost seemingly recognizing people and shouted excitedly.
Chu You was not trying to recognize anyone though. He was shocked to see Northern World Guild’s players around. Didn’t Northern World Guild belong to Yue Xianfei? And since they were congregating at the entrance of the cave, it was quite clear who his client must be. There was a strong chance it was Yue Xianfei herself.
He took a few more steps towards the Northern World Guild players, giving the Battle Wolf Guild players a puzzled look. He finally asked, "Battle Wolf Guild, what are you doing here?" According to the Boss of Falling Flower Guild, Battle Wolf and Chu You were supposed to be allies. They were among the guilds who had contributed Gold Coins to him during the Apocalypse War. Although fueled purely by self-interest, the Battle Wolf guild had not participated in the war, instead strategically deterring other guilds from battle.
"Night Boss, I was about to ask you the same. We are planning to secure this cave and clear out the people," responded Wulang, who was privy to the secret alliance between Battle Wolf and Yan Kingdom’s Immortal. This alliance, maintained at a cost to the Battle Wolf, and benefiting Immortal, was not equal. Although not shameful under the current circumstances, at the time, it was considered quite disgraceful. Battle Wolf Clan Boss, Er Lang, had kept this secret, restricting knowledge to just a few, leading to whispers over time.
Very few people knew the Battle Wolf Guild’s aims.
After Wulang finished his sentence, everyone was stunned. It seemed that Night Ghost and Battle Wolf Guild were closer than expected. Why hadn’t they heard this before?
"Tell Er Lang, these are my words. Don’t bully Northern World anymore, or our relationship is done. Leave now!"
The usually outspoken Wolf Xiao Le didn’t say a word, looking confused about the situation. Also, he felt that the matter had escalated to a higher level, and he thought he had no right to speak. His face, however, revealed his feelings--he was upset that Night Ghost did not side with them.
Wulang looked even more upset. He had already summoned over 500 players who were on their way. But, with a single sentence from Night Ghost - a player from another kingdom - his efforts had been negated. If it were anybody else, their actions would not have been so easily dismissed, or at least there would have been a price to pay. But for Night Ghost, what he said was what happened. You just had to listen.
"Did Night Ghost really say that? Right in front of you?" said Battle Wolf Clan Boss Er Lang, his brow furrowed at the thought of Night Ghost. His feelings towards Night Ghost were complicated–the Battle Wolf Guild’s present success was partly due to him. Ever since they had paid part of the Gold Coin tribute along with the Falling Flower Guild, they had received many advantageous tips about game tactics, resulting in several crucial early victories over Bosses. Raiding those Bosses would not have been possible without luck and opportunity, as the drops they produced were valuable. More importantly, they found out about the locations of strategic resources.
It was money well-spent. Their initial resentment had long vanished. However, they had not publicized their relationship with Night Ghost. A drastic shift had occurred in reality: the majority of players in the Yan Kingdom believed that Battle Wolf Guild had achieved its present status through its own strength. They had no idea Night Ghost was involved. They thought that the Battle Wolf Guild had risen independently to become a renowned guild with great potential.
What would the players think of the Battle Wolf Guild if they disclosed their relationship with Night Ghost? They would believe that the Battle Wolf Guild’s present scale and strength were all thanks to Night Ghost’s support. Their respect for the Guild would take a hit.
Because Battle Wolf Guild needed this approval, they had never revealed this shocking secret. Now, they had become the top guild of the Yan Kingdom, bathed in glory, fame, and strength.
"Forget it, let’s retreat!"
