Chapter 377: Chapter 378
The patroller of Yara Forest dropped 7 pieces of equipment, the best among them being a Black Diamond Grade armor for priests. Also dropped was a Black Diamond blueprint titled "Blueprint: Produced item: Delicate Cocktail," which only culinary life skill users can craft. The cocktail is capable of increasing the natural recovery rate of the player’s health and magic power, making it an indispensable dish for any player.
The rest include two pieces of Platinum equipment and three pieces of Green Nobleman Equipment, which can only be equipped by level 37 players, in addition to 11,000 Gold coins and dozens of large Red and Blue Potions.
After picking up the loot, Chu You went over to the severely wounded Enchanting Shooters and gave them the red potions.
He then handed the blue potion to Emperor Ji. His magic power value was only just over 4,000, which was too meager for Emperor Ji. Even when multiplied by 180%, it was only over 7,000, which was barely sufficient for the Death Ray (Burst) skill. In short, his own magic power value determined the combat power of Emperor Ji.
The team set off again, and that was when Lin Luor sent over a message.
"Chu You, what are you up to?" Her voice sounded a little low.
"Heading for the stars and the sea. Anything wrong?", he asked in a jest.
"Nothing... I just... wanted to see you." So, she missed her bro! Chu You smiled, "I won’t be much longer on this North America trip. Is NAG48 any good?"
"What’s so good about it? It’s crowded. I left after just walking around the site once." Lin Luor aimlessly searched the guild trading house, not entirely certain what item or equipment she was looking for. Her level was too high─35. Her old teammates were only in their 20s, the level gap was too much for them to play together. So, since Chu You left, Lin Luor found herself with nothing to do or that it was too boring, such as mining ore.
Thinking of ore, Lin Luor closed the trading house and took off, flying into the sky outside Lookout Mountain.
"Hmm, let’s go to the Qin Empire and do something when I get back."
"Okay, I’ll wait for you."
Now Chu You finally led his troops to the crossroad. Checking the map, he determined that heading right would take them deeper into the high-level zone. However, Chu You had no plans to go that way as it would bring them right above the large city, with 80% certainty that it was the main road.
And given the system’s announcement, everyone in the North America Zone knew Chu You was in the Yara Forest. If they chose to go left...
Chu You noticed that the left path was narrower than the right, and it was gravelled and rising in elevation as a range appeared in the distance. Clearly, this path led to a more mysterious mountainous area and was gradually diverging from the Yara forest. Either way, it was an advance into the high-level zone. Chu You opted for the left believing it would be easier to find hidden towns.
Once again, he asked Emperor Ji to scout the road ahead while he led the main force towards the left path.
Just as they were walking, Chu You and Emperor Ji suddenly looked up and saw two dark figures fly swiftly across the sky. In Chu You’s judgement, these two dark figures could be neither players nor NPCs. But what they were was self-evident. Besides, it was clear that they had discovered Chu You and his group but chose to ignore them. This was rather odd.
The left path was indeed troublesome, but Chu You relished such challenges.
"Emperor Ji, follow them immediately!" Chu You promptly issued the command.
Emperor Ji’s enormous wings spread out, and with a flap, she shot up into the sky and headed in the direction where the two dark figures had flown. She could only stay within a maximum distance of 3,000 meters from Chu You. Crossing this distance would halt her advance. She needed to devour two more ninth-order pets to evolve again. Ninth-order pets, oh, how exciting! Chu You was looking forward to seeing Emperor Ji’s evolution. It probably would mean a greater maximum allowable distance between them!
As for where to find the ninth-order pets, as Chu You walked while staring at the beautiful starry sky resembling the Milky Way, his eyes reflected deep contemplation.
’Ka-ching,’ the sound of footsteps on rubble filled the air. They were slowly leaving the Yara Forest as the trees became fewer and fewer. This was a good sign.
The mountain range in the distance was coming into view, and Chu You could barely make out the snow on the mountains, appearing extremely frigid.
A bone-chilling wind blew from the mountains as Chu You and the others left the last dense forest area, making Chu You shudder inside.
"Master, I can’t go any further. They disappeared into the mountains." Emperor Ji sent a telepathic message.
"Okay, come over here and lead the way." The path in front had been disrupted, replaced by an open field scattered with rubble. Focusing on the fallen rocks, Chu You could vaguely see tracks of wheels having moved over them.
A moment later, Emperor Ji landed beside him, pointing to the sky, "They flew off in that direction."
Chu You pinched his nose, a gesture he often did when bewildered. Could the sky track align with the ground path even in the same location?! It was certainly impossible!
It seems they could only look for it based on the traces on the ground.
The main force set off towards the mountain range. As they entered this area, the ribbons on the Enchanting Shots fluttered, revealing the continuous cold breeze in this place.
System: You have arrived at the Soron Mountain Range!
The path here is difficult, slowing down their advancement. Chu You keeps his eyes down, tracing the tracks up ahead as the landscape gradually ascends. As he hears the rustlings of creatures nearby, creature nests begin to appear. They have left the forest and entered the Soron Mountain range.
From a distance, Chu You and his companions are slowly making their way up the mountain, encountering several rock creatures along the way. These creatures are well-hidden, appearing as mere rocks from afar. But when within their range of perception, they reveal themselves and launch surprise attacks.
However, these ordinary creatures pose no threat to Chu You. His pace remains uninterrupted, slaying the experience monsters as soon as they appear.
The bone-chilling wind becomes more intense, and even snow starts to accumulate beneath his feet. Chu You notices that the Enchanting Shooters are having a hard time in this cold weather and are struggling to adjust.
But they will have to adapt, they need to understand the principle of ’suffering before enjoyment’!
The path becomes increasingly treacherous, flanked on both sides by cliffs and slippery slopes. A single misstep could send them tumbling down. However, the benefit is the lack of rock creatures. After some more hiking, Chu You and his companions finally reach the top of the mountain.
Looking down, one can vaguely see a building. However, it is only a building, not a town, which causes Chu You to slightly furrow his brows.
But suddenly, shadows begin to move within the building, which looks like a cathedral. These shadows move swiftly and nimbly.
Emperor Ji’s voice suddenly speaks up next to him: "I can hear their sonic waves. They originate from them." She says, as she can clearly see what is happening.
Sonic waves??
Suddenly, these shadows fly into the mid-air and cluster together. Just like Chu You leading his Battle Demon Princesses, they prefer grouping together in the sky before launching a unified attack on their target.
The shadows gather thickly in mid-air, vaguely displaying their wings.
Another wave of sonic waves passes, and the shadows suddenly move. Like bats on a mission, they quickly fly downwards before veering sharply to the right and disappearing from sight. They are hidden by a mountain, leaving Chu You and Emperor Ji unable to see them.
Curiosity piqued by such a sight, Chu You immediately gives his command to Emperor Ji: "Fly over and see what’s happening!" Emperor Ji immediately spread her wings and flies off quickly.
Chu You assesses the path ahead before leading his 397 Enchanting Shooters towards the cathedral below.
As they approach the cathedral, intelligence from Emperor Ji arrives.
"Master, they seem to be attacking a Human Town!"
Fucking hell, has he stumbled upon a monster siege??! Monsters capable of sieging necessarily have a strong power level, a fact that Chu You very well understands.
"Keep watching!"
In a short while, they arrive at the cathedral. In the earlier darkness, they hadn’t been able to discern the condition of the building. But now, it becomes apparent that it’s a cathedral in severe ruin, reduced to fragments and rubble. Black, dried blood stains are even visible on the stone walls, along with decaying corpses.
Given its location within a basin, there are no gusts of wind. Chu You orders all the Enchanting Shooters to stand by in their current location. Then, after putting some distance between himself and the Shooters, he summons the Night Fairy Airship.
Ten seconds later, the airship appears before him. The Battle Demon Princesses and War Demon Concubines on the ship simultaneously turn to look at him.
Chu You climbs aboard the crowded airship and makes his way to the cockpit. He then takes control, slowly lifting the airship into the air and flying towards Emperor Ji’s location.
As they clear a mountaintop, the situation below becomes plainly visible.
Indeed, there is a town below. Though small in scale, the clamor of commotion can be faintly heard, along with the steady glow of fire illuminating the town. Those shadows are continuously circling around the town, periodically launching attacks. When they attack, their speed drastically increases. The town’s defenders seem quite capable, casting magic spells and shooting magic arrows.
As the airship slowly approaches, the noise from below continues to grow. Simultaneously, a house catches fire, casting an even brighter glow over the town. The shadows are no longer fighting as a group. Having seemingly killed an important figure, they begin to spread out, launching an all-out assault on the entire town.
"Is there a teleportation array or any players?" As Chu You moves closer to the town, it brings Emperor Ji closer too.
"There is an array, but it seems inactive. There are no players. And the shadows are from the Blood Race!"
Blood Race?! Fucking hell, he has encountered a high-level Dark Species: the Longevity Type in This place!
