Chapter 375: Chapter 376: Should we rob it?!
"Can players from enemy countries actually help us?" a player asked, looking puzzled.
At that moment, a surprised voice came from the distance. "I found a Black Diamond Grade treasure chest!" However, the crowd didn’t really pay attention.
"Aren’t you afraid that Night Ghost will come to steal the legacy scroll?"
"I have confidence he won’t," Yue Xianfei said, she didn’t know where such trust came from, she just had this feeling that Night Ghost isn’t that kind of person.
"It seems feasible, as long as I don’t die, it should work. Didn’t War Wolf build off of a mound of corpses? I’ve never seen Fourth Son lend a hand either."
"But they have guild mode, we don’t!" a player reminded.
Yue Xianfei shook her head and said, "Night Ghost is a big-shot, he should know this. Why don’t we ask him? I’ll send someone to inquire."
"Sister Yue Xian, how much are you willing to offer Night Ghost for his help?" This was the question that the crowd really cared about.
"I’m not sure, I’ll have him quote his price." After saying that, she opened up her friend list and sent a message to a friend. "Could you ask Slayer, the big boss of the Yan Kingdom, for me? I want him to send Night Ghost to help us fight a boss. He can name his price. Here’s the specifics..." Her voice was melodic and appealing.
"Sure, I’ll relay the message to Slayer right now." After speaking, this person immediately logged off.
"We need to hurry, if War Wolf’s people learn about the presence of a hero’s legacy here, they’ll definitely come to snatch it." One player expressed his concern anxiously.
Hearing this, Yue Xianfei’s eyes flashed, and without a word, she hurried towards the location of the treasure chest.
...
In the North American region, night has fallen. In a certain spot in the Yara Forest, the noises of battle could be heard, and the sound of ’whizzing’ arrows was ceaseless.
After a volley of arrows, terrifying screams echoed through the forest, as if the owner of the voice was some kind of evil creature.
That’s right, Chu You’s current enemy is an evil being: a stone gargoyle!
When his troops entered a forest decorated with stone carvings of ancient evil beasts, once night fell, these beasts resurrected. Not only that, this area seemed to be enveloped in a foul aura. Chu You saw the stones on the ground merging together as if they were alive, forming a kind of stone liquid. Finally, a stone gargoyle materialized from this liquid.
The stone gargoyle was all black, with scarlet eyes. It looked like a bat but was much larger. Some were even as big as adults. Their skin seemed to be flesh, yet was highly resistant to physical attacks. They had wings, but their flying speed and altitude were poor, so Chu You didn’t feel threatened.
Therefore, he was calm, standing amongst the crowd of female archers, casually giving commands...
Stone gargoyles are a dark species, typically two-star elites at level 37. They only appear at night. For those with a related mission, they have to wait until nightfall. The gargoyles also drop strategic resources, specifically mercury.
With the added bonus of many Enchanting Shooters, the gargoyles are in great pain. Even though they have high physical defense, they can’t withstand the attack of 400 Enchanting Shooters.
The morale value growth of Enchanting Shooters is not the same as that of Dou Zhan Ji. They only have to kill any enemy other than NPCs for their morale value to increase, albeit very slowly.
It can be seen that the gargoyles relied on their ability to fly to dart through the forest, avoiding the Enchanting Shooters’ attacks. But with the sharp archery skills and sheer number of the Enchanting Shooters, there wasn’t a single gargoyle that could survive for 5 seconds. In Chu You’s eyes, a gargoyle would be doomed after 5 seconds.
The gargoyles do possess magic skills, but they either can’t use them or get killed just when they are about to use them.
Once the gargoyles are slain, the troops proceed further, and then slaughter again when the next wave of gargoyles shows up. They repeated this process, and meanwhile, the quantity of collected mercury resources was gradually increasing.
Looking at the constant victories, Chu You steeled himself. What the hell kind of tactics did they have? With such complex topography, did they want him to waste time while the enchanting shooters were practically sweeping over everything? Tactics only wasted his time!
However, Chu You soon found the pace slowing down due to some of the Enchanting Shooters with lower health who couldn’t walk normally any longer. Despite this, they tried their best to keep up with the squad. Chu You was lucky to have noticed this. If he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have noticed if some of the troops were reduced.
The gargoyles’ attacks were from every direction, hitting every part of the assault squad. Chu You only paid attention to the battle in front of him, ignoring what was happening at the back or the flanks, which resulted in some Enchanting Shooters being injured. As for casualties, luckily there were none yet.
Seeing some of the Enchanting Shooters who were limping and had blood stains, Chu You thought he should recruit some soldiers with healing abilities. They were more useful than Lin Luor. Although Lin Luor’s healing abilities were strong, they couldn’t be applied collectively to biological troops. The group healing skills didn’t work on biological troops. They could only heal one by one, which was quite slow. The advantage was noticeable when they were facing Battle Demon Princess, but when facing a large army of biological troops, the effectiveness of a healing professional player wasn’t really apparent.
A more specialized healing unit was needed to do this kind of thing, able to attend to the wounded units autonomously. They could sense when a creature in the team was experiencing a decline in health and automatically heal them. Of course, only more advanced units could do this.
After dealing with the wave of gargoyle attacks, Chu You had no choice but to order his troops to halt and rest, whilst also waiting for the trailing creature nest. That thing was truly an anchor, and if it wasn’t for the new week approaching fast, Chu You might have abandoned the T5-Class creature nest.
During the rest period, Chu You helplessly went over to the injured Enchanting Shooters, providing each with a healing potion to speed their recovery. Chu You had an ample supply of these potions, reaped from defeating bosses, high-level monsters, and dragons—varieties of all types, including the highest grade, the Advanced Life Potion.
"Emperor Ji, what’s the situation up ahead?" After taking care of everything, Chu You sent a mental message.
"The evil presence has receded, there’s a woodland path ahead." Emperor Ji sent back promptly.
"Good, now go check how long until the damnable creature nest catches up!"
"Very well, master." Meanwhile, they seemed to have killed a hundred gargoyles. Chu You only managed to secure a platinum gear and three Viscount Level gear. There was plenty of regular equipment but they were of no use, not a single one was picked up.
After another patient ten-minute wait, the sound of movement was finally heard from the rear. It was the creature nesting moving forward. Chu You turned to look. The enormous creature nest had no trouble moving here. Any trees that blocked its way seemingly became a part of its body, merging with it. Once passed, the trees returned to normal.
The Enchanting Shooters’ stamina and health value were now largely replenished. Thus, the troop resumed its journey, promptly running into another skirmish. This time, however, the number of gargoyles was small, possibly as Emperor Ji had predicted—the evil presence had waned considerably.
Emperor Ji joined the fight using her skills to cast area effect spells. Dealing with the gargoyle leader, she activated ’Death Ray (Burst).’ The leader dropped a platinum gear of level 37. Defeating it added 10 more Mercury strategic resources.
Finally, the large group got past the dense forest and ended up on a narrow path. It was barely wide enough for a carriage, maybe even less, and flanked on all sides by the thick woods.
To Chu You, this meant his troops were still in the depths of the ’Yara Forest’, deep within this primal woodland.
Upon seeing the path, Chu You’s eyes twinkled subtly. His instincts told him that following this path deeper into the forest might lead him to his goal—the ’Hidden Town.’ After all, the path showed traces of carriage wheel marks.
"Forward!" The troop officially began their march.
minutes into the walk, Chu You received a voice message from his friends’ list. Opening it, he recognized it was from the Slayer guild’s boss.
"Great God, I have a question. If foreign players discovered an Ancient Hero legacy and they wanted you to beat the legacy guardian so they could get the legacy, would you do it?" The Slayer boss came straight to the point. His intention was quite overt.
Heh, it seemed like someone had found a legacy but dared not activate it. For current stage players, a legacy guardian was too strong. Piling up corpses strategy was futile against a boss at this level.
"Hmm... Yes I can." As long as the player possessing the Scroll of Legacy survived the process, regardless of the method used to kill the boss, they would obtain the legacy. There are many strategies available in this situation.
The Slayer boss understood and asked to confirm, "So, will you help a foreign player asking this favor, Big God?"
"Your friend? What’s the price they’re offering?"
"Well, he’s kinda an international ally. Ha-ha. They asked you to name your price."
"Name my price?" Chu You caught on quickly. He was somewhat a wealthy person, and his Combat Power was strong. But most importantly, his reputation in the game was too high.
Thus, his price wouldn’t be fraudulent, but they hadn’t considered something else—hiring him was like hiring a superstar, the price had a hidden premium. Alright, they apparently didn’t think through this.
Or maybe the other party was truly loaded and could afford his services?!
"Yes, that’s what they said."
"What Ancient Hero did they discover?"
"Eh, a hero named Zhang Jiao."
Zhang Jiao? Chu You was surprised. This hero was an incredible Mage class. Chu You knew Zhang Jiao had a skill crucial for any class, a great advantage in fights that allowed him to make an external incarnation for long-range combat. Unlike Xiahou Yuan, this ability was fun. Should he take the chance and steal it?!
