Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Invitation from Overseas

In reality, He Junkai sat alone in an upscale, spacious stretch vehicle.

Peering out of the window, his gaze was unfocused, clearly lost in a reminiscence.

The guild was gone, the board of directors was greatly shaken, and the plan was disrupted. Some who had knowledge of the internal machinations of the incident speculated that it was a retaliatory action from a hidden, massive power in Huaxia.

They thought the enemy might have discovered traces leading back to an event from two years ago and had identified them as the suspects.

After the incident, they immediately adjusted their plans and secretly prepared for a potential real-world retaliation from Huaxia. They were also hoping to figure out who their real enemy was.

However, after several days had passed, everything was calm, neither had their personal safety nor their company’s products been affected at all. The business competition remained the same as before, with no particular targeting evident.

This was unusual since, according to the characteristics of the "Little Ancestor," once Huaxia folks acted at this level, it would be a powerful maneuver. Usually, this would signal the net is closing in. While they may not face complete demises or crippling damage, a substantial blow from the other party was usually guaranteed.

However, none of that happened.

Looking at the whole incident, it seemed a lot of thunder for not much rain; just a minor Second Level Guild got wiped out.

Yet, the strangeness implied by this event was rather unsettling!

Changing his train of thought, he stopped dwelling on these matters and instead thought of the objective of his current visit, an image forming in his mind.

Poor Chu You, oblivious to the true circumstances behind his parents’ death, I wonder how you are doing now? Unfettered by your parents, possessing a suddenly inherited vast fortune, inheriting their business, and becoming the head of the group, I, He Junkai, do feel a tiny bit envious of you.

Before long, this imposing, black stretch vehicle drove into a towering building. The building was the headquarters of Chu You’s Business Empire.

In the lobby stood a few well-dressed men and women, mature-looking men and attractive young women.

Seeing the vehicle arrive, their faces lit up with professional smiles, and they stepped forward in unison.

"Welcome, welcome, Young Master He, you have grown even more charismatic after all these years, haha."

He Junkai smiled and nodded, "Not at all, your warm welcome has caught me off guard."

"But of course, our two families have been partners for years, we’re practically strategic allies. Please, come this way, Boss Li is expecting you."

He Junkai nodded again and followed the middle-aged man into the building.

Before long, the middle-aged man led He Junkai to the door of an office and spoke to a secretary nearby: "Tell Boss Li, the young master of Haitian Feast Group, Young Master He, is here."

Upon hearing these words, the secretary present promptly picked up the phone and passed on the information to Boss Li. After receiving the confirmation from Li and hanging up, she stood up and told He Junkai: "Boss Li invites our distinguished guest in."

"That’s all from me, Young Master He, enjoy your chat."

"Thank you very much." With that, He Junkai followed the secretary into the room.

Inside a spacious and sophisticated office, He Junkai initiated an enthusiastic conversation with an old man with white hair but brimming with vitality.

After exchanging some formal pleasantries, He Junkai dove right into the subject matter.

"Old Li, why haven’t we seen your precious son Chu You?"

"Hehe, he is busy with his studies."

"Right. The reason for my visit is to address why you’ve reduced imports from us. Did we do something wrong? Please tell me explicitly, my father is quite worried."

"That’s due to our recent strategic retreat."

"That doesn’t mean you should cut us off."

"Hehe, it’s not just your family, and this was the Little Ancestor’s directive."

"Chu You?"

"Yes."

"Didn’t you just say he is preoccupied with his studies?"

"Ah, I can’t figure out our Little Ancestor’s thoughts; several new corporate initiatives have been cut off by him."

Aaah, to wield such power is indeed capricious! Suddenly, He Junkai found his envy of Chu You growing.

"Seems like, I need to find the main character, haha." With that, He Junkai pulled out an exquisite invitation from his pocket and handed it to Old Li.

"Please pass this to Young Master Chu for me, tell him his childhood friend Ah Kai is here to catch up on old times," He Junkai said cheerfully.

"Oh, your friendship is strong then. The two of you are both young, pay more attention to him, give him some positive energy. If I find out you’re leading our Little Ancestor astray, I’ll hold you accountable."

"Haha, of course not. Don’t worry, my main reason for this trip to Huaxia was to see him."

With the end of their conversation, He Junkai left his office. The old man moved to his desk where a small photo frame stood, depicting Chu You’s parents, both were captured mid-laughter.

He reached out and picked up the photo, observed it for a moment; a small smile appeared on his face, seemingly reminiscing about his fond memories with the people in the photo.

Later, something seemed to come to his mind and he let out a sigh.

Why didn’t He Junkai go directly to Chu You?

The reasoning behind this point was multi layered. It was hard to ascertain the nature of their friendship after so many years of absence. The most critical point was their identities!

Who is Chu You, and who is He Junkai?

It was necessary to establish they were at approximately the same level of identity for a meeting to not be awkward.

Going directly to Chu You might become embarrassing if he wasn’t keen on seeing him.

He needed to make his identity clear and, through doing so, transmit to the other party his power and influence. Once the other party had understood his background, they would likely put aside their subjective perception and approach him objectively. Only then could he garner their attention.

Once he had their attention, they would value him.

...

"Brother Tian, run!" A sweet-looking girl suddenly shouted.

But the person she was yelling at remained stationary, seemingly rooted in place.

The Wanshi Boss was shocked stiff by Chu You’s invincible demeanor. He couldn’t believe how a player could be so overwhelming in the early stages of the game. Chu You was like an unstoppable force, mowing down anyone who stood in his way—his terrifying presence left the Wanshi boss in utter shock.

His guild members were like ants in front of Chu You; he would slay one with each strike, eliminate a swath with each group attack, with no exception, they all seemed to die instantly!

When this huge and terrifying figure appeared in front of him, all the Wanshi Boss could do was to watch the oncoming attacks helplessly.

"Don’t worry! I’ll stop him, Brother Tian, run!"

When the situation was at its most critical, the girl threw herself in front of the Wanshi Boss, putting herself between him and Chu You. Her wide eyes were filled with concern as she looked at Wanshi Guild’s boss — Tian.

Did he remember me? Did he remember me? The girl was eagerly hoping in her heart.

Failing to make any initial inroads into the upper echelons of the Wanshi Guild had left her extremely tense. Now, however, she had finally found an excellent opportunity.

Wanshi Boss’s gaze finally focused on the Level 2 female player who was now standing before him.

’Thud’!

A mouthful of fresh blood splashed onto the Wanshi Boss’s face. The girl who had just shielded him collapsed slowly, her face a mask of tragic beauty.

Wanshi Boss finally snapped back to reality, a shudder passing through him.
